A change request to the AI

If a team has clinched a post-season berth can the AI Not start SP1 SP2 SP3 SP4 and not pitch CLOSER SETUP in last four games of the regular season so they are rested for post-season and not injured in a meaningless game?

IF .games. > 158 then ....

The AI definitely does this at least in certain situations. It will use the "bench player for X number of days" option.

Are the teams you are seeing not resting these players still fighting for seeding or something along those lines? Can you provide the specific scenario?

The AI will sit their top 2 starters the last weekend of the season if they have clinched a division title.

It's a little tough to work through every playoff option to understand if winning would make a difference - we don't want teams to sit their #1 starter if winning a game means they could avoid a wildcard series, although obviously they should sit them if they're in the wildcard game regardless.

If I see it happen again I will try to document it.

Thank You!

Agree with this suggestion! I’ve requested this for several versions.

Thanks for this Matt. In what version was this tweak made?

I think that was added last year sometime.

Just to clarify.
Matt said “division title”. He did not say “playoff berth”
PS. A lot of times a team can clinch a playoff berth but are fighting for a better spot in the playoffs.

I just had the AI sit Billy Williams in a game 163. His team got shutout. Williams won the AL batting title. His team still made the playoffs, but lost out on the 1 game advantage award division winners.

Yeah, no one should be getting rested on elimination games.
