Hey Ruth forgive the brevity but I’m at the office. The Steam pack like the pack here is updated every couple months. Steam needs to be reinstalled from the workshop. It overwrites. So a bad file w the same name gets replaced. May need to run an in game cache refresh or auto-refresh a player to see an improvement. Between updates, pull from here and drop in the fg_files folder.

Frank Kitson
What do you guys think of this deadballer? Does the light skin area contrast too much, or is he fine as is? The scar-like tissues seem to shine a bit when the photo is smaller.

Jack Harper
Just came across another one as I'm looking at league leaders. Definitely nowhere near as bad as the old zombies, but he doesn't look healthy.

Lans,
Back in your former thread you and FancySkunk discussed the two Erasmo Ramirez's but I don't find an FG for ramire001era (the first Erasmo whose best seasons were with Texas in '03 and '04). He's distinguished from the 2024 Erasmo by his very dark goatee. Would you please provide an .fg? |

Jack Harper
“[Jack] Harper’s career in baseball has been rather sensational,” noted a sportswriter in 1908. At the major league level, the pitcher began with the worst of all teams, the 1899 20-134 Cleveland Spiders, and finished with one of the greatest, the 1906 116-36 Chicago Cubs. In between lay betrayal, court rulings, moments of near greatness, and lapses of effort, topped with a memorable myth that has wound its way through a century of baseball history.
“Harper was pitching for the Reds at a salary of $4500. In one game he hit Frank Chance three times with pitched balls, the last one rendering Chance unconscious. Chance accused Harper of hitting him purposely and informed the pitcher of his intention of ‘putting him out of the business.’ That winter President Murphy made a trade with Cincinnati. Chance insisted upon having Harper in the trade. Cincinnati traded Harper to Chicago and the Cubs offered Harper a salary of $1500. Chance told Harper he had him; that he would either sign that contract or quit.” In the century since, a fitting coda has been added to the story: after signing Harper, Chance then spitefully benched the pitcher for virtually the entire season, allowing him to pitch but one inning for the 116-36 pennant winning Cubs, and destroying his career. It is a grand old tale, but with little basis in fact. - SABR bio As requested, even though the one in the pack is better than the older zombie one in the original request.

Frank Kitson
Frank Kitson, old diamond star, dies Death Comes Suddenly After Extended Illness.
Frank R. Kitson, 61, one of baseball's great pitchers of the olden days, dropped dead at his farm home two and one-half miles north of Allegan last night. News of his death was received here today by Mrs. Lincoln Estes, a half sister. Kitson had been in poor health during the last five years, suffering at times from a heart ailment. However, he was about yesterday and apparently aa well as within months. Kitson, the farmer boy, started his baseball playing with independent teams In Muskegon and other places in western Michigan. His work soon attracted attention and he went to the majors, where he starred with Baltimore and later with Brooklyn. From Brooklyn he was signed by Detroit in the American league. He ended his professional baseball career with Kansas City. Muskegon, April 14, 1930, Detroit Free Press I don't have the one that you have, Baby Ruth. AESP's is the one in the pack but when I pulled it for the before screenshot, I had already done it.

Abe Alvarez
Abe Alvarez was hired as the BYU pitching coach on July 18, 2022. Prior to joining the BYU baseball staff, Alvarez had spent the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Nevada.
Alvarez was an All-American at Long Beach State where he posted a 23–5 record with a 2.56 ERA over three seasons. As a junior in 2003, he helped lead Long Beach to its first-ever NCAA Super Regional appearance. He was selected 2003 Big West Pitcher of the Year and named second-team All-American by Baseball America after going 11–2 with a 2.35 ERA in 18 starts. Alvarez also won a silver medal with Team USA in the 2002 University Games. After the 2003 season, Alvarez was drafted in the second round, 49th overall, by the Boston Red Sox. He made the quickest trip from single-A ball to the big leagues in Red Sox history, making his MLB appearance in July of 2004. Alvarez was the youngest member of the Red Sox team to win a World Series ring in 2004. He went on to spend six seasons with the Red Sox organization, including three stints in the majors, before retiring in 2009. - BYU website Here you go, perc

Coby Mayo
It’s not hard to find reasons to be enamored with Mayo as a prospect. The infielder towers over most opposition at 6’5” and has plenty of power to match that imposing frame. Coming out of high school, MLB.com’s scouts rated his power tool a 55 on the 20-80 scale and his arm strength at a 65. Those explosive tools have only continued to grow as Mayo grows into his frame. His power now grades out at 60 while his arm is bumped up to 70.
Mayo’s offensive profile seems like a natural fit for first base and he could make a similar defensive transition to the one Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made when the Blue Jays called him up. And yet, sticking one of the best arms in baseball at a position where he’ll hardly ever make use of that arm seems like wasting one of Mayo’s greatest talents. Ultimately, Mayo may not have a true defensive home, as Brandon Hyde could choose to move him around the diamond just to keep his bat in the lineup. What is certain about Mayo, though, is that he possesses the same sort of limitless upside that enamored all of Birdland during Henderson’s meteoric rise through the minors. - camdenchat.com

Connor Norby
Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 50
Norby has always let his bat do the talking, ever since busting out to hit .412 over his final two years at East Carolina, before the Orioles snatched him up with the 41st overall pick of the 2021 Draft. And he’s done nothing but steadily produce in pro ball, putting up a .283/.362/.493 line and 52 homers in two-plus seasons in Baltimore’s system. He spent 2023 banging on the big league door at Triple-A Norfolk, where he spent the entire year, and slashed .290/.359/.483 with 40 doubles, 21 homers and 10 steals. He finished tied for fourth in all the Minors in both hits and two-baggers. A right-handed hitter with a simple, compact swing, Norby is quick to the ball and makes consistent loud contact. He punishes fastballs and is adept enough at recognizing spin to more than hold his own against breaking stuff, which he slugged .459 against last year (Triple-A average slugging against non-fastballs: .394). Furthermore, subtle changes to his approach have turned what looked like solid extra-base power into at least solid over-the-fence pop. His ability to leave the yard to all fields enabled Norby to lead Baltimore’s farm system in combined homers over the past two seasons. Norby isn’t a burner, but he isn’t a clogger either, with average speed and the ability to sneak a stolen base when the opportunity presents itself. He’s a capable defender at second base and athletic enough to handle left field as he has increasingly at the higher levels, with an average arm that works fine at both spots. It’s the bat, though, that has Norby looking like he’ll be an impactful big leaguer very soon. - mlbpipeline No before picture as I did him recently and saved over whatever old one I once had in my master pack.

Erasmo Ramírez (2003)
July 7, 2007, The Orange County Register
LOS ANGELES - It seemed to be a reasonable question to ask Erasmo Ramírez. "Why did you buy a house in Santa Ana when you could have bought a mansion for probably the same price in Texas?" It was a question Santa Ana's Erasmo Ramírez had a ready answer for when friends and family asked it. "Santa Ana will always be home," Florida Marlins left-hander Ramírez said simply. "I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, and I know my wife would not want to go anywhere (else) either." Ramírez purchased his Santa Ana home while playing in the Texas Rangers organization. The Cal State Fullerton and Saddleback High alum was drafted by the San Francisco Giants but was traded to Texas in 2003 for Andres Galarraga. Ramírez, 31, made his major-league debut in 2003 with the Rangers. He signed with the Oakland A's last season then signed as a free agent with the Marlins earlier this season. He has appeared in two games in relief for his new team and has yet to give up a run. Few would have predicted Ramirez would get this far. He is a first generation Mexican-American who attended schools with limited resources in Santa Ana. "I've gone through a lot of hurdles and obstacles dating back to high school," Ramírez said. "People saying I wasn't big enough (he is a 6-foooter now), didn't throw hard. In college people telling me I would never get drafted. In the minors (people telling me) I wouldn't get past Single A, Double A and Triple A. I've gotten over every hurdle and I'm going to keep playing until my arm falls off." Ramírez credits his parents, born in Zacatécas, for his success, noting the strict work ethic of his father, a concrete finisher. It has resulted in one major-leaguer and potentially another in his brother Ivan, who was drafted in the 50th round by the Rangers. There were unlikely characters who helped Ramírez along the way. "Alex Rodriguez was one guy back in Texas that pulled me off to the side and would talk to us (rookies) for hours about umpires, certain teams, certain players and you just listen and open your ears," Ramirez said. "I can name a lot of guys that have helped me along the way pitching-wise, but one guy that sticks out is Kenny Rogers. He was great. He talked to me during batting practice and taught me a lot of good things about pitching."

These look great Lans, really appreciate it! I just downloaded the master pack file and noticed you did have Norby in there already, that's my fault for not checking ahead of time.
I'm not seeing an fg file for the Mayo you just made. Not sure if that's on my end. |
