Hi all,

I am trying to create a 1993 baseball universe with 1993 historical MLB season, and some other fictional foreign leagues with foreign players (like a japanese league and KBO, and indie ball).

When I play 1993 season alone, the historical rookies showed up correctly (vlad sr, david ortiz, a rod, andruw jones, etc).

But when I add the additional leagues, like a fictional japanese league, KBO (with fictional players), and some indie leagues, the historical MLB rookies do not show up in draft reveal anymore.

No settings changed for MLB default historical.

Any way to solve this? Or I just cannot play historical mode with more leagues? It seems the issue happens when the players are imported on the day/or right before draft reveal.

Moving the default draft date reveal and draft day can cause a historical game to skip a real-life class. Have you tried your set-up without touching those two things?

Cecil Ferguson is listed as George Ferguson with the nickname "Cecil". Only problem being his real name is actually Cecil. Clearly this is a fairly recent update given his IDs reference "ge" or "geo".

I have a question. Suppose someone spent the last few weeks correcting and filling in data for the Master database file and has hundreds--if not thousands--of corrections. What would be the best way to share this?

Hypothetically. :P


Totally not related, but it's amazing how many 19th-century players have had their stats corrected or filled out by SABR researchers in the past decade.

It should come as no surprise that I was not being hypothetical. :/ Here's a list of players whose names were written backwards, with their lahman IDs for finding if needed.

All fixed. I think I got the Snitker one earlier from you.

There isn't an easy way for a volunteer such as myself to extract the corrections from the edits in the revised csv unless you ran a comparison showing which cells were changed. Whereas a post like above is really easy for someone with access to the db to jump in and make the corrections.

I used to undertake the same effort to correct stuff via postings, so I'm just like you in that regard. The only difference is now I am trusted to make my edits and to research and then quickly address other db issues once posted. I wish I could think of as easier way than writing stuff out in posts with IDs and what to change, but I do try to get to stuff like that ASAP.

Thanks. I'm actually going through and making changelogs with a program called WinMerge that lets you compare two docs (or versions of docs, really). The list of reversed names came from my "changed names" document.
At the least, I intend to upload the fixed .csv in the mods section and include changelogs with everything I did, separated by the kind of change, in that "Player ID. Was X, fixed to Y" format. So at least it'll be out there. :P
(The changelogs would be in attached .txt files, listing them in forum posts would be... really long forum posts.)

If you could provide the player ids, and the values for the changed fields, we could probably merge this into the db without too much trouble.

And do you need the numerical unique-to-OOTP "player IDs", or the lahmanID that Baseball-Reference.com uses? Terry Bevington would be 134819 with the column actually labelled "playerid", for example.

Just started a Brand New Historic Replay starting in 2004. I thought it odd when I was setting Function keys, that the Free Agent Data Base was bare except for the 100 year old Durham guy that shows up in every replay. So when I cleaned out my minor leagues of those I wanted to release, I cut from team and they all disappear. Show released on team and league transaction log, but do not appear in Free Agent list.

The one that sounds like a db issue is the Durham guy. Who is it exactly? An ID from his Player Editor would help.

As for the other issue, it sounds like they are hidden somehow. Did you make any eligibility edits or other customizations to the replay? Is this a historical transactions game? Any additional info on the settings would help, even if not a db issue.

Ideally the OOTP id, but whichever is easier for you we can work with.

Found an incorrect 1890 player...

John Fitzgerald (fitzge006joh) real stats are incorrect, he import with no stat for 1890 but he have a line for 1891 which aren't his since 90 was his only season in the ML. They are the stats of John H. Fitzgerald (fitzge007joh) who played for Boston in 1891.

Edit: I can't check but maybe the 1891 John Fitzgerald is incorrect too since his stats are assigned to the wrong player...

fitzgjo01 had stolen fitzgjo02's stats, so there was a third player involved. All three are now sorted Nice to see ya, AESP

Durham is durhajo01 and he appears in every historic replay I have done 1969 to 2015. Only his age changes, and I have started to sign him every time too. I just supposed he was one of the programmers inside joke or homage to a Grandparent. The Only change I made was to set Established International Free agents to default number. For kicks and giggles I started same replay in OOTP 24 made same change, and free agents are there.

I must have clicked something. I created a duplicate OOTP25, and free agents are there. So let's call this bug Operator Error. Durham, I can sign and forget. No problem there.
