Custom Game Entry Drafts?

Can we still not have an entry draft for our pro leagues?

Am I missing something somewhere?

There's the initial draft check box when you set up the league (first screen)
There should be an annual entry draft automaticly. If not, go to the league's edit screen (while in commisioner mode, on July 1st) and you should be able to edit the draft there.

Note: There is no draft in relegation leagues.

Yes. This is a relegation league.

Hopefully we can have this next year. If each relegation league has their own feeder leagues, it makes sense to have a draft as normal, no?

I remember in the testing that drafting was tricky in reg leagues. If you were a tier 2 team, and you drafted a 5 star player, that same player would also be drafted by a tier 1 team, and would more than likely sign with them. Made it hard to figure out who to draft that would actually come to your team.

So really, what's the point of a connected feeder league if other leagues can also draft them?

If my relegation league has its own feeder, the NHL should not be able to draft/sign them. Entry level contracts can only come from the team that drafted you. For three years.

The only issue I could see is where do the pro/rel teams draft... which I'm sure could be just added into the draft lottery in a defined rank, which happens before the draft and after July 1.

I'm no dev, but logic says this should be doable.

A relegation league isn't a feeder league. That would be a Jr. league, who sends it's players to the major league it's connected to when they're ready. A relegation league is a smaller, minor league. At the start of the next season, the lower league's top X number of teams move to the higher league, and the worst X number of teams from the higher league are sent down to the smaller league. It's a European thing.
If you're looking for a feeder league, uncheck releagation and add a jr league to your custom game.

Right. But I am able to create a feeder league for the relegation league.

So the NHL has a feeder league, and my relegation league has its own feeder league.
If the feeder leagues are assigned, why wouldn't it work?

The NHL can't draft from the relegation league's feeders, and the relegation league cant draft from the NHL feeder.

Logically this makes sense, whether it is real life or not is beside the point. That's what a custom world is all about. The logic and functionality already exist in the game, but they're not paired up here.
