Historical League with no previous stats
I'm starting a league in 1901 and want all previous years stats deleted.
I made this thread last year and got a comment that I need to import league history then go to functions and then delete league history. That works but at the end of the year, all the old players come back. I even went into commish mode and deleted the players but they came back the next year. What else do I need to do?

One way around this, is to create your league in say 1880(import league history when you do so). Then fast sim forward till you reach January 1st 1901. At this point, go ahead and erase all history, player stats etc. etc. This should do away with the problems caused by Dan Brouthers and others like him, as they will not return if the game already has them present during the erase all history/stats procedure. Problem is, your rosters won't be completely accurate to 1901, but if you turn off trades and have players go to original teams instead of a draft during the fast sim years, rosters shouldn't be that far out of whack. Another option is to simply check your leaderboard like a hawk immediately following the finish of every season. For example, at the end of the 1903 season when Dan Brouthers imports, if you check the leaderboard you will see Brothers leading every offensive category. Delete him. This method works, but I've always been scared I will miss someone and end up with players in my league that didn't actually play in the league. Another option is to create your league in 1901 and add several levels of minor leagues. You must have the box for import complete league history checked. Once created, you need to run a free agent draft (or release all players and run a fantasy draft) making sure every single player in the free agent pool ends up on a roster. You want to make sure there are enough levels of minors, that every player will get a chance to play. Once players earn some form a OOTP stats they will not return with career stats. Only thing is, I'm not sure if this will solve the problem of a guy like Brothers or any other guy that returns so many years after stopping their career. One way to check if it might work is to check the free agent list in 1901. If Dan Brouthers is a free agent, it should work as long as he gets an at bat in the minor leagues. I should add, I don't know if any of this would work if one is using historical minors. I would also recommend creating a few trial leagues to use as test leagues before diving in officially. That way you can be prepared for any hiccups that might pop up. Last edited by David Watts; 11-20-2024 at 12:51 PM. |
