Database problems

Blew up a hard drive when OOTP crashed on me. Not happy...

how do you blow up a hard drive? Wouldn't logic tell you that your hard drive blowing up is what caused the crash not the other way around

I don't know. I managed to get the drive back by cycling the power, but it crashed again when I tried to access the folder with the database. I deleted the dat files, moved everything else off the drive, reformatted and put the folders back using the backup dat files and it's working fine.

I'm assuming you have some bad sectors. Drive could be failing. That or the controller on the MB is dying. I've had both happen.

I'd be careful saving anything important on that drive and look at replacing it ASAP

I used to be a computer tech so know my way around. My original post was pretty spicy and I couldn’t delete it so I watered it down. But yes, I was mad and jumped to a conclusion without really confirming it.
