It's still cool if nothing else.... now I want to see the others!

Umpire William Tate

I can't really find much on this at all, but do you guys think the same William Tate who played for the Hartford Charter Oaks in 1865 could be the NA umpire Tate from 1874? If so, here is an image of him. I know a number of amateur players of the 1860s became umpires in the NA, including Fred Bunce who was on the Hartford club back then too so the possibility seems reasonable but I have nothing except speculation for now.

unknow dodger

I picked up some negatives recently and this player was in the lot. The photos are from 1993. He is number 54 and his last name ends with a "K"

In 1993 John Candelaria and Omar Daal used 54, its obviously neither of them

i would assume Its spring training as I also found a photo of dodgers minor league pitcher Greg Hansell from the same set of photos, possibly from the same game.

Any help would be great

The only player in the top two tiers of the Dodgers' minor league organization in 1993 whose surname ended in "K" was Scott Doffek.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=doffek001sco

However, I haven't been able to pick up any newspaper evidence that he was with the L.A. Dodgers in spring training in 1993. He's not on my lists of players who ever made major league spring rosters or got invites to major league spring camps as NRI's.

If you would like to make a photo comparison with the Dodger shot you have of player #54, I've posted a photo of Doffek on the OOTP Minor League thread at:

Strange, I dont think its Doffek. Could the letter possibly be a "Y", also have a nother shot where the first letter of his last name is possibly "C"

Thanks, Dto7. Dera Clark was a Rule V draft player who returned to the Kansas City Royals' system before the 1993 season started. The fallacy of my looking for Dodger minor leaguers with surnames ending in K overlooked the possibility of a player in spring training who neither made the Dodgers' major league season roster nor dropped back down into the Dodgers' farm system.

If you have it misidentified then so do I.

What makes you think that? I have the image dated from 1906.

As a comparison here are alternate images of Stricklett from 1899, 1904, 1905 and a full length 1905-07.

I originally didn’t have his name on the file, I figured it out and edited the post. Thanks for the additional photos of him.

That is a 1905 Carl Horner photograph of Elmer Stricklett, who pitched for Brooklyn 1905-1907. The date is confirmed by the use of the (reversed) image in the 1905 Sporting Life composite of the team (attached below). (The 1906 composite has the image in its correct orientation.)

I see now that the OP edited the post later the same day to add the correct identification of Elmer Stricklett to the title. (It would be helpful if the earlier request for assistance were deleted.)
