Failure to load

When I go to continue game, I get a series of error messages about failing to load databases, then it just goes back to the home page. I tried a restore and I got the same series of messages. I am unable to load my game. Any suggestions?

May want to post the exact message and any notes about the last time the game closed (was there a crash, a power failure, etc.). That might help someone recognize an issue they've encountered.

First: An Error occurred while loading database! Could not load Coaches file.
Second: A problem occurred loading the league files. Click "OK" to save the current files in a folder named "incident" inside your league folder now and to let OOTP try to restore your game to the state of the last previous successful save. Click cancel to return to the previous screen.
Third: OOTP saved the potentially damaged database files in a folder named "incident" inside your league folder. Click "OK" to restore the files manually.
Fourth: OOTP restored the league files from the auto-save folder. Click "OK" to try loading your saved game from the last valid save.
Fifth: An error occurred while loading the database! Could not load coaches file.

I had played the game the this morning. I left the game running (I am pretty sure) but came back and had to restart the game and this occurred.

I’ll mention this since it is easy and a check-the-box “yes, I tried that already” item and that is to go to the Settings on the title start screen, when the pop up comes up, go to troubleshooting and then look for a button that says “Force reinstallation” or “force verify all files” (Steam language). Words to that effect. Maybe it can reinstall the database if it got corrupted somehow.

I guess what I want to know, is this league gone forever, or is there a way to salvage it if the force game data re-installation fails?
