AI Roster Issue, no 2nd catcher

Historical league, some teams refuse to carry a 2nd catcher.
50 games into the 1992 season, the MLB leaders in catcher passed balls are:
Bernie Williams 12
Kal Daniels 11
Kevin Maas 6

The Yankees have more than $16 million in money available.
There are 15 catchers on the free agent list all season, asking between $220K and $550K.

This is an ongoing issue that affects multiple teams every season. Also affect some teams who carry only 3 relievers.

When ever I've seen that on my team I simply go to "Organization - Overview - and under Actions I click on the "Ask A.I. to set up complete minor league system" and the A.I. will usually promote or pick up the missing players, then I go resetting players to levels I want them at. I see you are saying this happens to other teams than yours - there is a setting that allows you to run computer manager on ALL teams in your league under Game / Game Settings / League Settings /Functions...

Can I ask if you modified any of the settings before starting your league? That can make a difference, especially in the minors to player progression and promotions - even if the player is playing out of position.

When I saw this issue the team was carrying 13 or 14 pitchers in a 10 pitcher era. None of the pitchers had options and the computer manager didn't know what to do.
I went into commissioner mode, traded the least valuable pitchers and put another C on the roster.

THIS must be a great idea. My consistent detractors didn't show up en masse to argue against it. They didn't show up HERE either.

Thanks for commenting. I'm not using minor leagues. The fix I found under 'challenge mode' is to set the trade difficulty to easiest level. Sign the free agents to my team. Then trade them to the appropriate teams. Under hard trade level those teams won't take players unless I also give up my best players.

100%! Commissioner mode is the way to go. But I am using 'challenge mode' for the 'perfect team' benefits.
