I edited the transactions file to create transactions I wanted

When I created a new game I pointed at the database, imported complete history and minors, etc.

When game starts none of the work I did was there. It still used the games original data.
I have no idea, on transactions or lineups. (I only play draft or random historical)

I edit players major league stats (to fill in missing years or have a earlier rookie year) and add additional players and teams (early expansion).

Out of curiosity, when you add a team (early expansion, etc.) what files are you editing to set what their team (roster) or managers are? Maybe I'm editing the wrong file?

I don't set a roster (or check historical lineups/transactions) since I start off with a draft and have expansion later rather then stock rosters. (I start the game with 1899, and have expansion in 1920, 1940 and 1960. Some teams that moved, don't for me, like Washington, Brooklyn and the NY Giants, since I added many future team locations in the expansion)

To add teams I edit: teams.csv and teamfranchises.csv

Some changes, won't show up in the first season of a new game.

Editing affects all future games, so keep a copy each time you edit and edit one thing at time, and test, so you can see the effect (if any) over time.

I suspect the game is using the default database to start/initialize the game but then importing players and team changes from the modified database you point to during league creation. Not that I recommend it… but if you replaced the default database outright, your changes should show up immediately.

I see. Will make another run at it.

One more question: to edit Ml4 to appear as MIL in stats and history pages, where would I edit the historical database?

Teams (team ID)
But changing, will not change the MI4 on the initial season.
If you change to MIL from 1969 to present:
If you start with 1969, it will be SEA, 1970 will be MIL
If you start with 1970, it will be MI4, 1971 will be MIL

This does not change players locations in the real life stats, just in the players stats of the seasons that you play.
(to change real life locations, you'd have to change every players real life stat location, in all the batting, fielding and pitching files)
Hopefully this make sense.

I think to do some of the things you are trying to do, you'd be better of exporting mlb rosters (in League Settings), within the game program. Then make your changes, and reimport them. (I've never done it, just see it in the menus of the game)

I've been seeing this for years on here but never really looked into what it was all about.

This may seem like a weird question, but I've wondered this about this tool. I see it is mostly for historical leagues. But would this work for a fictional league?

I started my league in 1881. I'm in 2012 now so I have a ton of history and obviously a ton of players have come through the league.

I've thought before about trying to make some sort of database of all the players in the history of my league, and starting a new league and having those players randomly debut or pop up in different drafts and could be drafted by different teams than they were in the original league.

Is any of that possible with this database converter? If not my apologies, I was just confused and had made it 50 comments into this thread and still wasn't sure of the answer to my question.

Bug??

I've noticed that some players in the initial convert get the following added in the middle of the player ID in minor league master file:

+AC0 or
+AC0ALQ

ex: hufft+AC0-001irv

These players will not get imported to a league later.

These also get added to some "first and last" names in the main master file, but this is just a visual item, that can be corrected as you play the game (when you notice them)

I still need to reset everything back to "out of the box" and try the whole process again, but I figured I'd let you know. It might be just a bad import or export at some point, that gets repeated on multiple changes to the stats files in a spreadsheet.

Note:
It looks like it may happen (rather randomly) when re-saving the csv after editing in a spreadsheet. UTF 7 vs 8 encoding seems to be the issue.

Doom, I fear that given the new files included in the odb for OOTP26, a new conversation tool will very likely be required. Hope you’re still out there and doing well!

Alive and kicking

Guys, I'm still around and will take a look at the DB converter this week. Hopefully, it will be an easy fix and I'll have a new version up by the weekend.

Are you on Windows or macOS? I suspect it is an encoding issue as well.

Yep, it was a encoding issue in the windows database application.

Loaded and working. (Just added one fictional player in test) Thanks a million!!!!

It looks like they moved the Negro League Players it's own area.
This might make it a lot easier to add historic Japanese players (like Starffin) and fictional players (from movies!!) to the game.

Luckly, I set up a spreadsheet of all the changes I made.

Those are the NeL MLEs. So, if you elect to use the MLEs via the toggle in the set-up, it will create ratings based on those stats as opposed to their real stats. Kinda like how it can look a to the Batting2 file for neutralized stats. Those stats come from a version of this mod:

I used the InteGREATed Mod in OOTP25, and had added a handful of adjusted non-mlb players to it, and it gave those players realistic MLB playing careers.

The foreign players that I've added, I adjusted from their real stats. Pitchers "K's" get reduced X%, Batters EBH's get reduced X%.
Since none of the players I've added played in the US, I think they will still fit in here, rather then the main file.

I wonder if I should rename the files to reflect that. Something like NonMLBBatting2.csv, NonMLBPitching2.csv, NonMLBFielding2.csv. I suppose I could just leave it as is for now and consider updating it in the next major revision.

I'd leave it as-is. Who knows how the programming is wired and if it is looking for a specifically named file. The NeL csv is new but soon it will be clear what it is as people crack the new odb file open and poke about. Thanks again for the time you take to create the tool. It's invaluable t othe community.

The file names need to specifically be the same as what is in the default ootp26 DB otherwise it will not work. So we need to keep the naming conventions the same as what they provide.
