I'm way late to this, I have a lot I could say, but I'll just say this. I am forever grateful for this series and all you've done for it over the years. And of course many others feel the same. Good luck with everything in your future!

I think you should write a book in your retirement. You must have some incredible stories over those 27 years and even before that. Like how this passion and idea came to fruition. You have a tremendous amount of fans who would likely buy your story. Best of luck to you!

Markus,
I was wondering where you were hiding for this release and then I did some digging and came across this thread, I just wanted to take an opportunity to thank you for this game. I started playing OOTP X and was around until OOTP 14 then I had to take a break from gaming because of becoming a new father. Now that the kids are getting older I am picking back up the hobby again and of course OOTP is the first thing I came back to just as it was the last thing I played before taking a hiatus from gaming. OOTP was there with me through at the hospital as I welcomed my son into the world, He was reluctant in coming and took 2 days after his mom was induced to finally decide to come, During those two days in the hospital whenever my wife would doze off I would fire up a game and lose myself in my ootp universe to help calm my nerves. Making my triumphant return to OOTP for v26 I was weirded out not seeing you around the forums as release day approached. I remember one of the release days I was on the fence about pre ordering because of some bug and we messaged back and forth on the forums a bit and I made a joke about my last name not being in the names database and it being a pain to always manually add it in. You said since I pre ordered you would put it in there for the early release. I totally thought you were joking but sure enough I open up the names file and there it was. It was something so small but it really showed me what kind of company you were running and the type of person you are. I wish you nothing but happiness in your future endeavors (secretly hoping it is an American football version of ootp) no matter what they may be. If you ever make it to the Detroit area I definitely owe you a beer or two for all the hours of enjoyment this game has brought me. Cheers!

The great thing about software is you just sit down and start writing. Pretty impressive what you were able to achieve using some pretty basic tools. Must be an encouragement for others who have ideas they want to develop. Just sit down and start writing it.
