HRBaker's PT26 Diary (FTP)

Not bad for Week 1. Four(4) of 6 teams ended up with 92+ Wins, were in the Playoffs, and 1 of them won the World Series (Low Gold). Two(2) of the other 3 got to the WS but choked. The other 2 teams that didn't make the Playoffs ended up in 3rd and 4th place in their Divisions.

Heading into Week 2, my best team is in High Gold, 2 in Silver, and 3 in Bronze. Can't complain.

Only one team in regular league this week. Waited until Monday to create my other teams so that they'd have a normal start in Rookie League. Finished a strong 94-68 in High Gold, led the conference in runs scored (823, 4th overall), but lost the division series in five games. Will get promoted tomorrow.

Lost the world series in 7 games after being up 3-1. Blech.

Update coming tomorrow after everything is settled, but I'm happy with Week 2. All six teams made it into the playoffs and a few have a chance at promotion. Stay tuned...

First Championship!

Won in 6 in my Low Bronze league. I'm hoping to move up multiple levels since I had 115 wins in the regular season. Also got the Cy Young with the live collection Robbie Ray, who was my fifth starter. Now it's time to hopefully start doing well in tournaments.

If I understand the new setup, you should end up in LoS.

A mediocre season in Low Diamond. No playoffs, no relegation. Waiting on those live Braves prices to come down some, as that's the only mission I need for Live Level 1. Several Live Level 2 missions complete plus the Wakefield mission, a handful of tournament wins, plus some Clubhouse Stars from daily tournaments. Adequate start.

Not great, not awful. I have a price I'm willing to pay for iron/bronze/silver/gold/diamond cards, so the live missions are mostly beyond me right now since I'll wait for the prices to come down. I think I've finished 21 of the level 1 missions and 2 level 2s (the lowly As and White Sox of course.) None of the divisions completed though, a few at 4/5.

I'll probably be in low gold for a season or two more (as I'm generally around wildcard level) and then get relegated to silver depending on pack luck.

Tourneys have gone alright. I've made about 530 clubhouse stars so far, but only have 420 as I bought 1 pack bundle and Danks.

Since Friday I've gained about 55 packs (though it should be 60, for some reason the OOTP Official drops didn't work for me today) so just shy of 20/day between streams and tourneys - but as always waiting to open them.

The roster is somewhere between good and bad, I'd say it's "fine" for now. Needs to get some pack luck to pull ahead more. Definitely a bunch of spots to upgrade.

54 Game Update...

It's obvious the Commodores hit Quicksand in LoD. 22-32 and very likely going to be relegated back to HiG unless I decide to spend the other $50 lifeline in an attempt to keep them where they are. More likely I'll choose to drop back and see if a couple more weeks gives me better options.

Milwaukee, Oakville, and Chandler looks to remain where they are, while the Cardinals and Stars might have a chance to move up if things remain the same.

I'm happy with the quick start on all teams, but a bit disappointed I hit a brick wall with the Commodores after a 102-60 season...

My A team had "one of those starts" where the team just starts the season ice cold...I was a good 9 games under .500 after April. Told myself, don't PANIC, this happens, see where we are at in a month. Then the team went on a torrid streak in Mayrattling off 8 straight, at one point we had a 3 game lead in first, then we went ice cold again, by the end of June we were 5 games back of 1st. The team has gone red hot again in July with a 7 game win streak, we're back up to .500 and 4 games out of first, at least we are keeping it interesting and going .500 in High Diamond is nothing to be ashamed of, that's for sure.

B team is my team chemistry experiment, we are up to 67% and it shows, they wrapped up the Low Silver division by Wednesday....

What a weird season...won 14 of 16 after the all star break, we're a game up in the division, 2 games back in wild card. And sooo many 1 run contests..

Have 5 teams running

All are over .500, my team that has played only 9 days is 50+ games over .500 in Iron and has 26 Level 1 and 2 level 2 missions completed. As an FTP team, I plan to totally ignore the Atlanta missions until both levels are otherwise complete, then plan on completing both of those missions on the same day. That should keep me from being promoted too much above my weight class. I expect Hi Bronze next week. Plus, the Braves are going to have a large number of new player cards when they add the first batch of lives. Oddly, this team is 2nd in runs scored and 2nd in runs allowed, but has won only a little over 10,000 PP and has little hope of any individual awards except reliever of the year. Too much turnover for any of the hitters to get awards, my only two All-stars were Wendelken and Yadi.

Team is mostly live mission toppers, so it's a team with a really high floor in terms of individual talent. 5 Non-Live diamonds (Yadi, Hrabosky, Howard, Finley, and Hunter, 12 NL Golds, and Muncy and Helsey). Wendelken has been amazingly good, 2.95 ERA and 40 saves in 129 games. And I did get a huge pack pull, Ben Oglivie, who I sold for 11K and so was able to complete the Dodger L1 mission and get Scioscia very early.

My other 4 teams got loyalty bonuses and pre-purchase rewards. Three were in High gold for the first real week, My $ team is now leading its division in high diamond but with a lousy record as I spent too many PP's doing the Live missions quickly. Still, getting to the DS will probably get me to PL. The other 3 teams have been stagnant, as they got promoted above their weight class and are just now getting enough talent to make the playoffs.

Main team clawed its way to the top of its Low Diamond division shortly after the All-Star break and hung on to win a very tight four-team race. Three games separated first from fourth place, and it took all 162 to clinch. Phew!

Bats decided to stop doing anything in the division series, but my record seems to be high enough to get the last promotion slot to high silver. Also got my first perfect card with Rod Carew.

On another note, I lost game 7 in a tournament because my bullpen gave up 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th in the round before you get any rewards. I am in great pain.

Week 3

Well, the top three teams (Commodores, Marshalls, and Panthers) all hit a wall - mostly because the fast rise put them up against some heavy hitting Whales that haven't gotten to the top yet. I'm hoping once they park themselves at Perfect level, there will be a little more room for us Diamond Dreamers. I did manage not to spend my other $50 on the Commodores - didn't look like I could provide enough help for them since they slogged around the division all week at less than .500 and I got another bonus from the early timing of OOTP's promotion P/R process and missed being relegated back to HG. The Marshals, however, look to have some potential... (famous last words)

My three lower teams did well actually - all of them getting into the playoffs (but again failing to do any damage once they got there). The Stars, however, turned in a 108-54 season and got a promotion from High Bronze to Low Silver.

All six teams over 3 seasons have recorded a .558 winning percentage which is better than I did in PT25, so my hopes are up this will be a better year overall.

PS: Still too early to consider dropping any teams from daily to weekly review, but the clouds are clearing.

An Added Thought; It's clear (and obvious) once you choose which team your going to focus on (in my case the Commodores), any other team(s) you have will have a much longer road to travel for success. It can happen; a couple Perfect pulls and the possibilities not only change, but you might re-focus your efforts. That happening, however, is a rarity. When you put 90% of your time, money, and Twitch TV investments into a single team, your setting up a 1927 Yankees versus the 1899 Cleveland Spiders. Anyway - was just thinking out loud
