How To Import Your Save From OOTP 25 On Mac
Hi all,

Mac uses a system where they compartmentalize files so that you won't be able to find your OOTP25 save in OOTP 26 to import it initially.

No worries though, it's pretty easy to work around this.

Here's how:

In OOTP 25, click on "Settings," then the "Troubleshooting" tag. Then click on "Open folder containing saved games."
In OOTP 26, do the same.
Copy the game you'd like to import from the OOTP 25 saved games folder to the OOTP 26 saved games folder.
Now, when you try and import the game in OOTP 26, you should be able to see it in the OOTP 26 saved games folder. (You still have to import it for it to work in OOTP 26.)

Then you should be good!

Tiny OOTP 26 screen on Hi Res monitors (How to fix)

If you open OOTP 26 and everything is so small you can't read it on 4k and 8k (1400 and 2160 resolutions) there is a very simple fix built into OOTP.

Click on settings either on the OOTP main page or if you are in a game and click on file. Click on Expert and down where it says "Use windows DPI scaling" turn that to Always Off and then close the game and reopen it and your font and scaling will look like it did in earlier versions.

Alternately, you may want to set it to Always On, for some users that will actually yield better scaling for you.

Do you want your views and filters from OOTP 25 in OOTP 26?

If so, you can copy the tables and filters manually, and they may work. Due to data changes, we cannot guarantee that they will import correctly, you may have to move some around or edit some fields to get them looking like they did before.

What you need to do is find your data folder from OOTP 25, and inside there is a folder called "tables". If you copy all of those files, and replace the ones in OOTP 26, then when you load up a game, you should have most of them returning.

As mentioned, this is a use at your own risk. It's possible the old tables and filters will not function the new version.

Where do my old custom construction kit parks need to go?

We have moved the default location for construction kit parks. Now, it is best if they are copied to your individual saved game folder. If you copy the .ootp3d and .sc files from your previous version into data\saved_games\<game>.lg\3d_ballparks\compositio ns, into their separate folders, that should let the game see those files. You may still need to go into your new saved game and hit the "Auto-Import All Ballparks" for the game to fix up changes to the paths.

Did your ratings bars go missing?

In cases of a file corruption, you may notice that your entire screen goes weird in a game, players cannot display ratings bars, players in PT display 0 ratings for all players, etc...

What has possible happened is a corruption of your user.dat file. What you can do is off the main screen, click the Settings, and then navigate to the Troubleshooting tab. If you click the button called "Open Folder containing app.cfg & engine.cfg", that should open an explorer window for you (alternately, you can often find it by navigating to %appdata% and navigating from there). Then, you need to close your OOTP game, and we would suggest to rename the user.dat file to something else (user.bak, for example). Then, when you load OOTP for the next time, your settings will return to the defaults.

If anything going wrong, you can restore the renamed file, and edit options manually in the Settings menu. But often it is easier to start fresh.

Do you not get the Challenge Mode popup anymore and you want it?

New in OOTP 26, we added an option to hide the challenge mode popup. If you wish to play in challenge mode, you can open the Settings menu, and then on the Misc tab, one of the options there can restore asking about challenge mode when you start a new game.

Why is the gameplay stuttering?

There are a few potential options that might cause the gameplay to stutter and have very jerky animations. We will detail the most likely resolutions, but you may want to post separately for other information.

1. Frame Limit. In the settings menu (either off the main menu, or from inside a game in File->Settings), on the 3D tab, there is an option "Max Frames per second". You may change that to a higher number, or No Limit, and see if that helps. In some machines, it's possible that applying a frame rate might cause weird issues in-game.

2. Too high display settings. Another common problem could be trying to play with settings that are too high for your machine. There are multiple pre-set options - we would suggest trying out Medium, Low, or Very Low, and seeing which of those options work best for your machine.

I saw other people get confetti on the screen but I don't?

By default on some systems, we have disabled the confetti on-screen.
Do note that some Mac users have experienced problems with the on-screen confetti, that is why we have it defaulted off. The confetti will draw in your first pick in a rookie draft. If you want to turn it on, we'd recommend saving your file before the draft, in case if there is a problem with the confetti. If you experience a hang or crash with that, then we would recommend to keep it disabled as we investigate further how to get it working on those devices.

Where are those Red Stars?

The Red Stars are in Game -> Game Setting, you can turn them on with the "Show Overall ratings < min" option.

How do I enable Trace Mode?

If you are experiencing problems, often a trace file can be a big help for us in finding the problem.

To enable tracing, open your game, go to the Settings menu, on the Troubleshooting Tab, and change the Trace Mode setting to "Write OOTP debug info into file".

What we would usually suggest next is on the same page, select the "Open folder containing debug files" and have that ready.
If you are experiencing a problem, with the trace mode enabled, if you can go and reproduce the problem (a crash or some other issue). From there, if you go back to the folder that opened above, you will likely notice a file called something like ootp_trace_2025-03-12_23-45-48.txt. That is the file that we need. If you can attach it to your bug report post, or send it to me or Lukas Berger in a private message, that can help us track down the problems in many cases.

Note that if you restart your game with tracing enabled, the file that we need most may not necessarily be the last file in the folder (if you sort by date modified). Please feel free to attach or send all the recent files. You can zip them together and send as a group if you wish. Thanks!

I am running into data issues. How do I make sure they are updated?

In Steam, if you right click on the game in your library, go to the Properties, and then Installed Files, there is a button to "Verify Integrity of Game Files".
If you have the version direct from us, then in the settings button on the main entry screen, in the troubleshooting tab, there is a button to "Force game data re-installation".

In both cases, it should hopefully restore any missing or corrupt files. If that does not work, the next step is to check what your data directory your game is trying to use. From the Settings button, on the Expert tab, there is a display of the data path. If you used a custom install, it's possible the game is not updating files correctly when the game is installed. You may need to manually open your custom data folder, and then copy in files manually from the default game folder installation. On the Troubleshooting tab there are buttons to open the customizable data folder and the default data folder.

Help! My file is corrupted.

It may be possible to restore from the autosave backup. To restore from the automatic backup, do the following:

1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings

2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting".

3) Click "Open folder containing saved games".

4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore.

5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them

6) Open the folder called "auto-save".

7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder.

8) Now start the game and load your league.
