Bobby Miscik
9 year minor league veteran Bobby Miscik is pictured here as a 1982 Buffalo Bison in the worst misspellings I have ever seen on a card. As you can see its not even close. Miscik spent 7 of this professional seasons in the Pirates organization where he was a solid if unspectacular middle infielder with occasional power.
Miscik spent his last 6 campaigns at AAA without ever receiving a callup. I must ask : Is their a spring training photo out there of Miscik with the Pirates or with the Angels (his final employer) ? If you can find this you have my sincere appreciation. Bobby has a brother Dennis a lefthander who pitched in the Astros, Pirates, Royals, and Phillies organizations also reaching Triple A. Dennis Miscik would serve as a long term athletic director at his alma mater Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The Baseball Cube revealed that the Miscik brothers are natives of Calumet, Pennsylvania. https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=miscik001rob |

Dennis Miscik
Here is southpaw Dennis Miscik as a Cocoa Beach Astro 1977. Miscik in later years would become a very successful high school baseball coach at Mount Pleasant H.S.. Pennsylvania. Included is a Where Are They Now article from his alma mater Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The Misciks
The only major league spring camp Bobby Miscik attended was with the 1986 Pirates, when he was on their spring roster. I don't have a photo of him in a Pirates' uniform.
Dennis Miscik was a non-roster invitee to the Houston Astros' spring camp in 1980. I also lack a photo of Dennis in a major league uniform, although I have a Tucson Toros baseball card of him in which he's wearing an Astros' jacket. If you want that posted, let me know. Eric Grandy
I'm looking for an image of former Cub 1st Rd Pick (1974) Eric Grandy . So far all Google and card database searches have come up empty. Grandy had a very fine season in the Texas League 1979 hitting .305 with 45 SB and an .843 OPS. Then he's in the Mexican League in '81. His baseball career over at 26. I suspect Grandy had a severe leg injury in 1980 and lost his wheels.

eBay seller autographden is selling Grandy's signature, but in this case two words hardly paint a picture.

Bob E. Gibson 1929
From the Fall 2023 RMY Auction:
Here is Gibson with the Yankees in the spring of 1929, fresh off the campus of…somewhere. (All of my "Bob Gibson" searches sent me in an understandable wrong direction.). Anyway, Bob E. was 23 when he started his pro career, so some time in academia seems a likely explanation. Thorne Studios took this picture (de-yellowed and sharpened by me) of Gibson working out at 1B, but the presence of a prime Lou Gehrig meant that there weren't exactly a lot of chances for a first baseman in the Bronx, and Gibson was sent out. He had a nice minor-league career for over a decade, but never got to the bigs. Last edited by Amazin69; 06-24-2025 at 04:45 AM. |

Robert E. Gibson
Thanks for the Bob E. Gibson photo. According to Robert Earl Gibson's Sporting News contract card, he spent one year at Texas Christian University. Gibson was on the Yankees' spring roster in 1931. I haven't found any newspaper evidence to associate him with the Yankees in 1929. It's possible that the photo was dated incorrectly.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any spring training photos of Bobby Miscik with either the Pirates or Angels, despite his long minor league career and close proximity to the majors. Most available images show him in more recent roles, such as his work with the Brewers as a roving infield coordinator. His time as a player in the late '70s and early '80s isn’t well-documented online, especially in terms of photos. Your best bet might be checking old team yearbooks, media guides, or local newspaper archives from that era, particularly around Pirates spring training or Buffalo Bison coverage.
