Hi guys!
I just bought 2026. I'm a returning player, I haven't played OOTP in 15 years. ![]() What's the best way to get up and running with a solo sim starting in 2024? I've gotten back into watching MLB regularly and would like to get to know they Blue Jays' system better, and thought it would be interesting to start a sim beginning with last season, when expectations were high, before their disappointing real-world season. What are "very necessary" mods or tweaks that the majority of (recent) historical solo sim players use? Like I see Complete Universe Facegen Pack 2.0 is popular on the Steam Workshop. Does that improve the default facegens to ones that have been manually tweaked to be more accurate? Is that recommended/good for a 2024 sim? Or is doing a 2024 sim close enough to the current default roster that it's probably best just to do a default 2025 sim to experience the current game in its ideal state? I appreciate your time... I know I could figure some of this stuff on my own, but I was hoping the community's experience could quickly point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Starting a historical season in 2024 with the plan to play it into the future (i.e. not a single season replay) is somewhat problematic.
In historical saves the players are only rated on the stats they have created (i.e. the data in the historical database). So, for any young players that have not yet played into the prime of their career, you will probably not see Potential Ratings that are "realistic" in the sense of their real life projection. The "current roster" Standard Game set probably has most of those players and better Potential Ratings for them, but there isn't an easy way to get those ratings (although it is technically possible) into the historical 2024 save. If you want to sim in the future and see current prospects play out their career it would be better to start in the current season. Last edited by Rain King; 07-02-2025 at 07:56 PM. |

I expected that might be the case, thank you for explaining and confirming!
I presume what I'd want would be a custom-crafted 2024 roster or quickstart, but I imagine one doesn't exist and there's almost zero demand for a league starting one year in the past.

Curious.
Could he start a game in OOTP 25, then import it over to OOTP 26 to get what he is looking for? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not unless he bought OOTP25 when it was available for sale.

LOL. As luck would have it, I do! I bought it when it was sale on year but never got around to playing it.
