Payrolls ranged from $110M to $275M. I have never myself set a salary cap in this game and I started with the first version, so if there is a cap it is whatever the game set it as. This was the offseason before the 2030 season so 5-6 seasons in.

Man, this is a pretty big (seemingly) new issue or at least one that has gotten way more out of hand.
Has anyone tried a fix in the game world? Lowering the max cash was mentioned. Would setting all RP to average players help? (Too much work I know). Can we realistically expect this to be patched or addressed in what remains of OOTP 26's life cycle? I hope so but we should probably try to find some user side workarounds if possible.

It's definitely still on our list to fix up. I think we understand where it's coming from, and hopefully should be improved in the next patch.

Pitchers are obviously a little different because three "positions" settings are possible. Hopefully any "reliever" salary tweaks (which is always a good thing) do not swing the pendulum the other way and introduce exploiting contracts by position setting?
Never ending challenges. But stay on it. |

Nice to see it’s being addressed, it was present last year but it’s gotten a bit out of hand. I’m noticing less and less superstars choosing free agency in my long-term playthrough, but at least a lot of the contracts have opt outs (extensions are very very common). It is amazing how impactful a shutout closer is in this game, I suppose that is true IRL too if utilized properly.

yeah that many relievers seems excessive even at 10% inflation.

Yeah I mean if anything, the way the game is going, traditional closers will be become less valued in favor of 2 or 3 strong bullpen options, i.e. the bullpen games we see so often. "Bullpenning"
Although a lockdown, once every 10 years kind of closer, I could definitely see getting a 20+ million contract by some teams IRL. But again, those guys are unicorns and most relief pitchers especially are considered expendable with the rate of arm issues in current MLB.
