It is very difficult to determine, *before* you acquire a variant, how much it will cost to “feed” that variant. Once you own the card, you can visit the card shop, select the variant from the “Variant Relations” dropdown menu (if the variant is below level 5), and then sort by variant relation. But this option is not available for unowned cards.
What if it were? No doubt, a massive dropdown that listed every variant-eligible card in the game would be unwieldy. But what if, when you viewed a card on the card shop, there were a button/link under the stars (the stars that show Level 1, 2, 3, etc. ratings) that said “View variant relations” — a button/link that, when clicked, took you to the card shop with that card’s name already selected in the dropdown? The dropdown would not have to be massively large; it would just include that one additional specific card.
Ideally this button/link would be available from the standard card shop, not just the variant marketplace, so we could see what it would cost to level clubhouse cards that are not yet variant eligible. That would also let us buy food in advance, spreading out demand.
An alternative approach would be to replace the dropdown with a datalist including every variant-eligible card, but perhaps that would be harder or more cumbersome.
It would be especially neat to pair this with two new sort options (Variant Relation / L10 and Variant Relation / Sell), treating divide-by-zero errors as just 0, but nothing in this suggestion depends on that.
