Difference Between Boards?
Can someone explain the difference between how people, in general, use the "OOTP 26 - Historical & Fictional Simulations" board and the "OOTP Dynasty Reports" board? I understand some people might use one the same as some other people might use the other, but in general how are they used?
If there's a difference between how they are used and how you think they should be used, you can point that out too, but if you do please make that clear as I'm more interested in how they are used, in general, as they are right now.

My attitude has changed slightly since this forum was (controversially?) changed a couple years / versions back to "Historical and Fictional".
I'm a fairly literal person and so I keep all of my straight-up historical "do-overs" in here, along with my newish fictional one. I basically keep everything else in the Dynasty board. The Eclipse League stayed in here, where I originally started it, although as an RD league it could go in either as far as I'm concerned. Same with my Gulf League, which is newer, which I opted to put onto the Dynasty board. What sort of specific info are you looking for? What is the nature and context of your enquiry? Happy to provide more insight if desired.

I usually am similar, using historical for historical dynasties and the other forum for modern ones ... but I posted my new "Draft League" one in Historical because I misclicked when I first posted it. And honestly i don't think anyone gets too hung up on it. If they were to combine those two forums into one "Dynasties" forum I doubt anyone would kick up any fuss ... and it'd probably be more active.

I suspect this thread and the recent outages are not unrelated. If so, any performative improvement is a good thing but I hope the solution isn't a wholesale change to the boards' structure.

Historic taken literally would be a replay league. There's not much to write about one of those.
The division is really between a what if league having historic players and a what if league with fictional players. Random debut belongs with the first. Combining with Dynasties forum would be a bad idea. Many of the threads here are about teams that at times struggle to win, have the misfortune of losing players to injury, or the good fortune of TCR boosting an OK player into an all star for a year or two. Those sorts of things make a much better story than some dynasty winning the division ten consecutive years. |
