This was classy of the Pirates. Nineteen yrs ago Pitt SS Jack Wilson took the 1st pitch from his 4 yr old son Jacob. Tonight before the game w/the A's, the Pirates had Jack toss the 1st pitch to his son, now SS for the exOaklandnowSacTownsoonVegas A's.

Jacob Miserablowski is not the guy, man. He has heat and that's it. He's been up for five minutes and MLB has him figured out. Zero command, just heat. Go back to the minors, learn a third pitch and try again. He is not the right-handed Randy Johnson. He's an average pitcher with TJ surgery coming in about two years.

I think it's a me problem. Unrelated, the Pirates probably have trouble sourcing Pittsburghers to partake in first pitch celebrations (that park was empty in *June*), but thankfully a (homeless) professional ballteam happened to pass through.

Let's take this in order, shall we? It's a great mishmash of confusion (on my part
). Quote:

Jack Wilson recreates 19-year-old first pitch to son, Jacob And then, "Oh wait. low is speaking of a pitcher. These guys were/are shortstops. Better search for Jacob Miserablowski". Sure enough, low was doing a riff on the man's name but it's this guy, a rookie pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. His post merely was interposed with the others in the usual style of a message board. Joy, if I can still figure stuff out like this, I've still got it! ![]() Or, on the other hand, is my initial confusion a bad sign?

Nah. I read the "ago" in Cobra's post as "old". Several times.
![]() I didn't even *realize* that low had mangled Miser- ... Missi- ... the pitcher's name, because my brain went "yeah that sounds alright" ![]() I am a *very* fast reader. But not on an empty stomach. ![]() Hey, anybody remember how they made that piece-of-work pitcher an All Star based on LITERALLY NOTHING?

But no matter how it goes for him from here, he will always have that "AS" at the end of the row.

Yeah, sorry. We don't have a dedicated Brewers thread so whenever I need to rip on one of my guys I'll just do it here. Carry on...

How did the Tigers go from coasting into the post season to threatening not to make the WC?

Have you ever thought of how many baseballs are used in just one game? Why the heck not? What's wrong with you? The Athletic has thought of it, and how!

Finally! It begins. Robo umps will be used for 2 challenges a game beginning in 2026.

Manfred's statement made me vomit. Basically it boiled down to "we've ****ed around before and my yes-men have spun that as a success, so let's **** some more!" Egomaniac turd.

A combination of poor/inconsistent SP outside of Skubal, a sketchy bullpen, and leaving so many men on base that it defies explanation at times - all exacerbated by injuries. All at once.

Although, I still think the entire game's balls and strikes should be called by robo ump. Only two challenges ... Say the human ump is irked and, once the two challenges have been used up by him getting two challenged calls right for a change, he decides to expand or contract the strike zone after that. But still, it's a step in the right direction. May it prevent a least a small portion of the egregious calls that we have been seeing (so carefully documented and broadcasted now) and the Aaron Boone-like beefs that ensue.

Cleveland ties Detroit. Tigers were probably hoping Skubal could slow the bleeding. But he accidently hit Guardian DH David Fry in the face w/a heater. Fry was carted off & Skubal was visibly shaken up over the misfire. He gave up the lead in that inning, tossing a wild pitch & balked.

I'm surprised more guys don't get injured during some of these rowdy walk-off celebrations.
