Epic Collapse

So on September 14th in Low Gold, I was in in first place with the most runs scored and the fewest runs allowed. I didn't have the best record in the league because my record had a -8 Diff. I felt unlucky but, heck I'm in first in my division. Then comes Sept 15th, I lose. I lose the next day. I win two but then go on to lose 15 straight (17 of 19) and get swept in the WC round. Nothing I did to the lineup, strategy would stop the streak. Most games were close but always on the losing end.

While I have never had such a losing streak before I have had a lot of bad luck. I am routinely in the top 3 in both runs scored and fewest runs allowed but either can't make the playoffs or lose in the WC.

Had a similar collapse with one of my teams. Went 8-20 in September, just barely inched in as a Wild Card, and also got swept there.

On the bright side, one of my other teams won Game 163 to grab a Wild Card spot and then ran the table for a Low Gold championship (their first of the cycle). This included beating my division's first place club in LCS Game Seven by scoring seven runs in the eighth and ninth innings to erase a 2-1 deficit and make Johan Santana the winner (he went 5-0, 1.11 in the playoffs).

Game of inches indeed.

With the Mets, you expect these sorts of things. Not so much with the Tigers.

The Tigers don't often have a chance to collapse.

I wish they gave the in-game currency points for futility and bad luck. Shouldn't a 15 game lose streak be worth 800PP or something.

The amazing bad streaks and unfortunate circumstances that happen should be rewarded. For example a 15 game losing streak, variant 5 Joe Cronin committing 4 errors on opening day (yes, it happened), Chris Sale giving up 4 homeruns in an inning (yes again), etc...

I'm sure most of the community has even worse examples. Either way we'd all benefit. Yay

They do give points for snapping a losing streak, but it's only 250-375 depending on league level. I know this because the same team that fell apart last September was sitting at 81-57 on this September 9th, lost 14(!) in a row, won eight of their last ten to make the playoffs, and were again swept in the Wild Card round. Sheesh.
