Mize, Montero, Skubal at Fenway. My nerves are shot.

Tigers are not exactly the favorites though, having to play the Red Sox, themselves needing the W's, and the Clevelands play the useless Rangers. And the 'stros have the equally useless Angels.

This just in: Tommy Kahnle and his changup is not a late-inning, high-leverage option Mr Hinch.

On the bright paw, Mike Trout has career numbers to pile up and beat the 'stros.
Hey, that's more than what we can offer for our Mets! ![]()

Also, the Rangers kept the Tribe in check. Go, Jack Leiter!
Meanwhile, the Brewers determine not to lay down for Cincy, send out 13-2 Quinn Priester…and somehow manage to let Gopher Ball Zach Littell escape unscathed, so Priester is now 13-3, and the Mets' Tragic Number is 2. We can actually get eliminated today. At least y'all are safe until Sunday… |

Am I stupid or does the AL wild card shuffle end today with a 'stros loss? They don't beat anybody on tie-breakers in the Central, and the Red Sox are out of reach. So if Mike Trout can swing a few more with his old bones, he could cram the Tigers into the playoffs regardless of their own serial ineptitude?
I'm sorry, I can't word it any nicer, I have too many braindead sports teams to root for right now. My patience for shenanigans by the Tigers / Mets / etc. is sorely limited.

Yes, that's the way I read it too. Honestly, I have zero faith in winning even a single playoff game, regardless of how this band of bumblers may stumble their way into the post season.
Tommy Kahnle and his changeup in the ninth inning of a tied do-or-die game?!? Yeah, yeah, Will Vest through 12 pitches the night before. Who cares. Terrible call Mr Hinch.

It doesn’t matter who gets the call from the bullpen. None of them are getting outs right now. While I’m not at all a Hinch apologist, I don’t really know what else he can do. Harris gave him this flawed deck.

Congrats on avoiding the total crash-out that we are still in danger of.
That said, I hope you keep the pedal down and win the division, rather than taking your place at the top of that chart I linked upthread. |

That walk-off HBP for Cleveland is our September in a moment. One soul-cruhing game at a time. day after day after day.

If I’m reading this right if they win the division they get Cleveland at home. If they lose it they get Cleveland on the road. Either way they would play Cleveland correct?
Edit. I'm wrong. They own the Tie-breaker over Boston so they could still land in the 5th spot. Last edited by Hrycaj; 09-28-2025 at 07:09 AM. |

Time to reset, be hopeful, and enjoy the playoffs. I have been a Tigers fan since 1972; most seasons don't include Detroit in October.
Let's go Tigers!
