Just curious, is there anyway to get the variant on the roster without the 14 day penalty for taking the regular one off the active roster. i could not add the variant to my active roster with the regular one there and when I sent that one to the inactive list both that card and the variant had the (14) beside their names?

Probably the only way is to wait till the end of the season to make the change without the penalty.

I don't believe so, since the game treats them as the same card (which, despite it being a boosted version, is technically correct in the game's logic).

I griped about this a few weeks ago with no help from the devs. The All-Star break is coming soon, make the change now and you'll only miss 9 or 10 games.

There should have been a way to swap the versions out without both cards showing as needing 14 days on reserve list.

I wish this part of the game can change or be corrected. Technically when you upgrade and buy a variant of the player you already have you get penalized for it. This is clearly a technical problem and can discourage variants within the season.

This does not seem well thought out by OOTP. Please update?

it's both intended and not intended: in an ideal world it wouldn't be the case, but with how the game infrastructure is created it'd mean the variant would have to be a completely different card.

i imagine in the future they'll figure out a way to make this better but they're hamstrung by the way the database currently works

Technically it's a different card. I don't fully agree with this.

If it wasn't a different card then career statistics would carry over from the regular version when swapped for the variant. Same with Stieb. Case closed.

That's a compelling point. My main team's Stieb would have some really nice career numbers if this was true!

At HG now, he can't even stay in the bullpen some seasons, but he had some really good years.
