Feshasu is currently leading all of the pitching Triple Crown categories. Round 28: ...National 2-3 A.Spirits - 7-11(10), 4-6, 4-2, 10-4, 0-3 .....Kupore 3-2 Otahel City - 5-1, 5-12, 8-3, 9-5(11), 1-3 ..Sh.Eagles 1-4 Amnanache - 9-4, 1-5, 4-5(10), 0-6, 0-6 .....Tsapna 4-1 Westline - 2-7, 5-3, 5-1, 9-7, 8-2 ....Fampalo 2-3 Hokrof - 1-10, 4-1, 4-10, 7-11, 4-3 Mighty Oaks 5-0 Mithazni - 6-1, 3-2, 4-0, 6-2, 7-6 .....Keleri 1-4 Pasataki - 1-8, 5-7, 2-3(10), 7-4, 1-8 .....Kepmem 2-3 Cheshek - 0-7, 0-12, 3-0, 5-6, 3-2 ....Nokelto 3-2 Akashemo - 5-1, 9-4, 2-12, 2-0(10), 1-2 .....Lutrul 3-2 Sitache - 12-8(12), 5-2(10), 9-0, 2-3, 3-4 Kupore 9, Otahel City 5 (11 innings): Kupore 1B Fomo Tirma runs his hit streak to 20 games with a 7th-inning RBI single. He also had a knock in the series finale, so the streak ends the week at 21, the longest recorded in the EL thus far this year. Standings..........W..L -- Mighty Oaks.100 40-- ...National..90 50-- ...Pasataki..84 56+1 .....Tsapna..82 58-1 .....Keleri..80 60+1 ....Cheshek..79 61-1 .....Kepmem..78 62-- ..A.Spirits..75 65+2 ..Amnanache..68 72-1 ...Akashemo..68 72-1 .....Kupore..68 72+1 ....Fampalo..66 74+1 .....Lutrul..64 76-2 ...Westline..63 77+2 ....Nokelto..61 79-- ....Sitache..60 80-2 ..Sh.Eagles..59 81----------------------------- -- Otahel City..57 83-- .....Hokrof..53 87-- ...Mithazni..45 95Not all that much going on this week, aside from Mighty Oaks continuing to consolidate their lead atop the league, now a full 10 games with 50 to play. It's not impossible for them to be caught, but I think a third straight championship seems likely. The relegation race is remaining interesting, though. Mithazni has very little hope of sticking around, but Hokrof are two games closer to safety than they were last week, and I'm rooting for Otahel to pull ahead of somebody. In week 15, the two marquee series both involve the champion Oaks; they'll first host 3rd-place Pasataki in Aroketsil, then head across town to face the rival Spirits. Round 29: Sitache vs. National Aroketsil Spirits vs. Tsapna Westline vs. Keleri Mithazni vs. Shunna Eagles Amnanache vs. Kepmem Cheshek vs. Nokelto Scouts Otahel City vs. Fampalo Hokrof vs. Kupore Akashemo vs. Lutrul Pasataki Galaxy vs. Mighty Oaks Round 30: Keleri vs. Akashemo National vs. Westline Nokelto Scouts vs. Pasataki Galaxy Lutrul vs. Otahel City Kupore vs. Amnanache Mighty Oaks vs. Aroketsil Spirits Tsapna vs. Hokrof Shunna Eagles vs. Cheshek Kepmem vs. Sitache Fampalo vs. Mithazni Last edited by Ruwisc; 01-27-2026 at 04:21 PM. Week 15: August 16-27
Round 29: ....Sitache 0-5 National - 2-8, 4-8, 3-14, 1-9, 1-3 ..A.Spirits 1-4 Tsapna - 6-10, 5-7, 5-8, 8-5, 1-4(10) ...Westline 3-2 Keleri - 5-4, 6-7(10), 13-7, 3-5, 4-2(11) ...Mithazni 3-2 Sh.Eagles - 6-0, 4-3, 6-0, 3-6, 1-9 ..Amnanache 3-2 Kepmem - 2-3, 4-8, 2-1(11), 6-1, 8-7(10) ....Cheshek 3-2 Nokelto - 10-8(10), 5-7, 4-2, 1-5, 5-4(10) Otahel City 0-5 Fampalo - 3-10, 0-2, 2-6, 0-8, 4-6 .....Hokrof 2-3 Kupore - 0-2, 5-2, 8-6(12), 9-10, 8-9(11) ...Akashemo 4-1 Lutrul - 4-2, 7-4, 1-0, 2-4, 5-2 ...Pasataki 2-3 Mighty Oaks - 13-5, 1-6, 1-14, 10-2, 3-6 A couple of mildly surprising series outcomes. Mithazni have become road warriors of a sort, with 3 series wins in their last 4 trips. They now actually have a better road than home record for the season, one of only three teams that can say that. This season has gone worse for them than expected (and relegation was still expected) but they do have some solid EL-quality starting pitchers. Elsewhere, a series win away at Keleri seems to be a statement from fellow newly-promoted Westline that they do expect to be back in the EL next year. Kupore 9, Hokrof 8 (11 innings): Despite the extra-inning opportunities, Kupore 1B Fomo Tirma had his hitting streak snapped at 25 games. Tirma only returned in early July from the concussion that ended his season last September, with this being just his 38th game back. Plugging him back into the leadoff spot was a big boost for Kupore, who are 23-15 since his return. Round 30: .....Keleri 4-1 Akashemo - 3-2(10), 8-6, 5-3, 10-7, 4-5(10) ...National 3-2 Westline - 4-5, 8-1, 8-7, 12-1, 2-6 ....Nokelto 0-5 Pasataki - 4-15, 5-6, 3-7, 3-8, 4-6 .....Lutrul 5-0 Otahel City - 3-2(11), 5-3, 5-3, 13-6, 6-2 .....Kupore 2-3 Amnanache - 3-9, 4-2, 6-5(10), 1-5, 0-2 Mighty Oaks 3-2 A.Spirits - 4-1, 3-2, 6-2, 6-8, 2-3 .....Tsapna 3-2 Hokrof - 1-3, 6-7, 1-0, 2-1, 7-6 ..Sh.Eagles 0-5 Cheshek - 5-6, 5-8, 2-6, 3-6, 3-10 .....Kepmem 4-1 Sitache - 5-2, 6-3, 3-1, 1-2(11), 11-3 ....Fampalo 3-2 Mithazni - 0-3, 8-3, 5-1, 4-9, 9-3 Standings..........W..L -- Mighty Oaks.106 44-- ...National..98 52-- ...Pasataki..91 59-- .....Tsapna..89 61+1 ....Cheshek..87 63-1 .....Keleri..86 64-- .....Kepmem..84 66-- ..A.Spirits..78 72-- ..Amnanache..74 76+2 ....Fampalo..74 76-1 ...Akashemo..73 77-1 .....Kupore..73 77-- .....Lutrul..70 80-- ...Westline..68 82-- ....Nokelto..63 87+1 ..Sh.Eagles..61 89-1 ....Sitache..61 89----------------------------- +1 .....Hokrof..57 93-1 Otahel City..57 93-- ...Mithazni..50 100A horrible week for some of the relegation-threatened teams: Shunna Eagles were 2-8, Sitache went 1-9, and Otahel City was winless at 0-10. If Mithazni is going to survive, they're going to need this to happen a few more times, but they do find themselves three games closer to safety than they were last week. The season has passed the three-quarter pole, so I think this is where I ought to pause to give an update on the rest of the league system with around 40 games to go across the board. When we resume EL play, these will be the next matchups: Round 31: Westline vs. Kupore Cheshek vs. Mighty Oaks Hokrof vs. Lutrul Aroketsil Spirits vs. Shunna Eagles Sitache vs. Tsapna Mithazni vs. Kepmem Akashemo vs. National Amnanache vs. Keleri Otahel City vs. Nokelto Scouts Pasataki Galaxy vs. Fampalo Round 32: Keleri vs. Cheshek Shunna Eagles vs. Akashemo Lutrul vs. Amnanache Nokelto Scouts vs. Aroketsil Spirits National vs. Hokrof Mighty Oaks vs. Westline Kepmem vs. Otahel City Kupore vs. Mithazni Tsapna vs. Pasataki Galaxy Fampalo vs. Sitache Last edited by Ruwisc; 01-26-2026 at 08:43 PM. 2022 Three-Quarter Pole – Stats Update
We're in the home stretch now, with only 40 games left. Here's how the stats & awards races are shaping up in the EL: Batting race: Peku Karwo (ASPI, 1B): .372 Solo Sipet (NAT, CF): .358 Rolupi Shekesu (SIT, 3B): .345 Sipet's batting pace fell off in Q3 while Karwo's average actually increased, and the Spirits' 1B now leads the league in all three of the slash line categories. Sipet is second in all three as well. It's easy for me to forget because these guys are mostly names on a screen, but both of these guys are still teenagers! Home runs: Rolana Rekesu (ASPI, 3B): 51 Lope Shosotsoke (MIT, LF): 44 Ilye Nofetso (LUT, 1B): 43 Rekesu led the league in homers in 2019 and 2021, and looks to be right on pace to tie his career high of 68 (2018 and 2019). Shosotsoke continues to be the brightest bright spot in a relegation-likely Mithazni team, though his young teammate Pokoni Merefife ranks fourth on this same list with 40 bombs. RBI: Somp Awia (OAKS, 1B): 125 Rolana Rekesu (ASPI, 3B): 123 Ilye Nofetso (LUT, 1B): 119 Fumiecho Sahiu (SIT, 3B): 119 In his first EL season, Awia is reaping the benefits of batting in the middle of such a star-studded lineup. Interestingly, he's a switch-hitter with a massive platoon split - he might be even better if he stuck to batting left-handed only. Position player WAR: Nekafe Natso (KEP, SS): 9.3 Sawita Pichake (XEAG, 2B): 8.1 Lawori El (ZAP, 2B): 8.1 Anesa Mikesash (NAT, SS): 8.1 There's quite a logjam of other players in the 7.7-8.0 range as well, so the MVP race is definitely wide open. Natso was 2nd at the halfway point to his teammate Kala Koshynae, who has fallen back to the pack. Is he the MVP this year? It doesn't really feel like it, without any chart-topping numbers and on the 7th place team, but finding a new offensive level while being a great defensive SS is definitely valuable. Stolen bases: Sawita Pichake (XEAG, 2B): 75 Ketso Kofmi (CEX, SS): 64 Lawori El (ZAP, 2B): 61 Pichake has blown past his career high of 46 steals, without a real obvious underlying cause - he's near his usual OBP, for example. Maybe he's being more aggressive to account for how bad the rest of the Eagles' lineup has been. ERA: Notsimi Feshasu (OAKS): 2.40 Tupae Epofemi (ZAP): 2.75 Santa Ketitu (NAT): 2.77 Wins: Notsimi Feshasu (OAKS): 21-2 Santa Ketitu (NAT): 15-6 Talese Yelishike (OAKS): 14-0 Lomunu Awia (ZAP): 14-6 Pilau Rima (CEX): 14-7 Feshasu is no longer undefeated, but still looks to be lapping the field for the Pitcher of the Year race. Ketitu is the hot hand, having rebounded from a slow start to win 13 of his last 15 decisions. Yelishike's 14-0 record is eye-popping, but he benefits from having an opener pitch in front of him - several of his wins have been recorded with less than 5 innings pitched! Saves: Akawo Nylur (ZAP): 46 Autsu Sikiura (OAKS): 40 Uteuche Rolei (KEP): 40 Nylur has made 25 appearances since the last stats update, and in that time he's recorded 20 saves, to go along with two wins, two holds, and no blown saves at all (making him 46-47 in save opportunities for the season). If you're trailing Tsapna in the 9th inning, things don't look good. Strikeouts: Notsimi Feshasu (OAKS): 198 Tsarase Roshoshe (AKAU): 190 Laotso Tirionu (AMN): 189 Roshoshe is weirdly ineffective for a guy with this many Ks, though maybe not when you look at the big upticks in his HR/9 and BB/9 this year. Amnanache usually has a guy on this list, as they seem to prioritize these fireballers with nasty stuff, and Tirionu has been that guy the last couple of years. He leads the league in K/9, but has thrown fewer innings than the other two guys on this list. For his part, Feshasu has thrown 18 more innings than anyone else in the Elite League, on top of his other accolades. Pitcher WAR: Santa Ketitu (NAT): 6.8 Notsimi Feshasu (OAKS): 6.2 Tsai Reyolafa (AMN): 4.8 And yet, Ketitu is the leader in WAR at the moment. It seems to be because Feshasu has quite a big gap between his ERA and FIP, nearly a full run, while Ketitu's FIP is actually lower than his ERA. In the more backward-looking rWAR, Feshasu has a two-win gap ahead of the field. ---------- Lower Leagues Update Second League Standings.......W..L -- ............Meka 97 52-- ............Muni 97 53+2 .........Tishmin 87 63----------------------------- -1 ...........Nokir 87 63+3 ..........Semyof 85 65-- Arokets.Canaries 85 65+3 ..Ransu Shockers 84 66+1 ......Yoho Bears 81 69+2 ...Tenshe.Rubies 77 73-6 ...Swans Menmapa 76 74-4 ......Nipte City 73 77-- .........Takanse 71 79+2 ..........Onesti 70 80-1 Pelpitimochu Utd 68 82-1 .....Nokelto Utd 67 83-- .........Penhara 64 86+1 .........Rasenok 63 87----------------------------- -1 ...........Linir 61 89+1 ..........Wichku 55 94-1 ...Mamtul Wolves 51 99The top two teams here are all but guaranteed to play in the Elite League in 2023, which is a first for Meka - they are a real Cinderella story, having risen up from tier 8, gradually, over the past couple of decades. Muni (Shunna Municipal) will return after being relegated last year, while the race for the third promotion spot is looking pretty wild. Semyof are 7-time Elite League champions who have fallen on hard times lately, while Nokir also have a title from 1996. Of the teams in contention, it's the current 3rd-place team, Tishmin, who have been outside the EL the longest, not playing in the top flight since 2012 and dropping to the Northern Premier League from 2017-19. It would be nice to have more teams from the south in the EL, so I'd pull for either Tishmin or Nokir, but I do have a soft spot for the Canaries as well. Northern Premier League Standings.......W..L +2 ..........Yasral.100 50-- ...Sunoki Hearts..99 51----------------------------- -2 ........Moonside..96 54-- .Alilia Captains..93 57+3 ....Tsutonsu Utd..88 62+1 ....Lempisho Utd..82 68+2 ......Hiolye Utd..81 69-2 ...Sowichark Utd..77 73-4 .........Loshtsi..75 75+1 ............Kine..75 75-1 Enihaka Cyclones..73 77+3 .........Shalish..72 78-1 .......Atafe Utd..71 79-- .....Ransu Ports..70 80-2 ........Lisa Utd..69 81-- ...........Losap..65 85----------------------------- +1 ..........Oyefit..64 86-1 .......Moshelosi..59 91-- Sapoyo Tortoises..55 95-- ...........Lesha..36 114Yasral and Sunoki, both hailing from the nation's largest city of Ransu, now occupy the two promotion places from the NPL. Weirdly, only 7 of the 20 clubs in this league have ever played in the Second League before, and that doesn't include any of the current top 3. Moonside comes from Rupakare, the same island state that is home to Akashemo United; Moonside is the primary team representing the city of Eroha, which is north of Akashemo. Southern Premier League Standings.......W..L -- ............Fese.103 47+1 ...........Fachi..87 63----------------------------- -1 ...Killi.Bayside..86 64-- ........Sachlihe..86 64+1 .Killitash Stars..85 65+1 .........Shepero..85 65+1 .........Himespo..84 66+1 .........Wikyats..82 68-4 .........Amkutan..78 72-- ......Feshuyalya..77 73+1 South Shore Aksa..75 75-1 Killitash Giants..70 80+1 ....Tinshenikosh..68 82+3 .......Takelehun..67 83-2 ...........Hilas..67 83-- ...Hefem Rangers..65 85----------------------------- +1 ....Aksa Hornets..62 88-3 ...........Somno..61 89-- .....Hechemi Utd..59 91-- ..Hefem Monarchs..53 97Fese's league championship is all but locked up; they would have a chance at promotion even if they went 0-40 to close the year. A run of four straight promotions from 2016-19 brought this team out of obscurity, and now they're headed for even greater heights. Meanwhile, the Hefem Rangers are in danger of dropping to the fourth tier for the first time ever. They've previously finished as high as 5th in the EL. The best record in a state league currently belongs to Lokile BC (33-3) in the Efiro state league, a team that was just relegated from the Southern League last year. To be promoted back, they would need one of the four Efiro-based teams in this year's Southern League to finish last, but luckily, one of those teams is currently in last place. Time will tell. The worst team in the state leagues, and thus, the worst team in Lokasi, appears to be the Pale Eagles from Pale, Talor, who have been the nation's worst team at both pitching and defense, averaging about 11 runs against per game to this point to the tune of a 4-32 record. I feel somewhat bad for their one player on what would be a full-time salary, LF Ruol Apylsho, who could be playing at a much higher level than this. |

Week 16: August 28-September 8
Round 31: ...Westline 1-4 Kupore - 7-6(11), 8-9, 3-8, 1-5, 5-9 ....Cheshek 2-3 Mighty Oaks - 3-2, 4-9, 9-6, 1-4, 3-7 .....Hokrof 2-3 Lutrul - 5-7, 1-13, 7-1, 9-2, 1-8 ..A.Spirits 5-0 Sh.Eagles - 6-2(12), 2-1, 8-6(10), 4-0, 7-4 ....Sitache 2-3 Tsapna - 4-2, 2-10, 5-2, 2-9, 0-2 ...Mithazni 0-5 Kepmem - 1-3, 0-6, 1-3, 2-6, 1-3 ...Akashemo 2-3 National - 4-7, 3-1, 4-5(11), 3-13, 5-4 ..Amnanache 2-3 Keleri - 0-2, 7-1, 2-3(10), 1-4, 4-1 Otahel City 4-1 Nokelto - 7-5, 0-1, 11-0, 6-5, 5-3(11) ...Pasataki 1-4 Fampalo - 3-0, 0-2, 4-8, 1-4, 4-5 Mighty Oaks 9, Cheshek 4: Oaks CF Myna Kylchi was 5-5 with four extra-base hits in this game, including a 3-run home run that stretched their lead from 4-1 to 7-1. Kylchi was a relatively rare intra-EL trade acquisition, coming over from Wikyats Athletic during the 2020 season. Hokrof 9, Lutrul 2: Hokrof 3B Pumacha Layaka had three home runs in this series-evening win. From the start of the season in March through the first week of June, nine EL players hit 3 home runs in a game, but Layaka is the first to do it since, a span of another almost three months. He has just 14 HR on the season. Round 32: .....Keleri 3-2 Cheshek - 4-2, 2-6, 1-2, 9-6, 3-2 ..Sh.Eagles 2-3 Akashemo - 9-6, 1-8, 1-2, 3-1, 2-7 .....Lutrul 4-1 Amnanache - 5-3, 5-2, 0-1(10), 1-0(10), 6-2(10) ....Nokelto 1-4 A.Spirits - 4-10, 1-7, 3-7, 7-11, 8-6 ...National 2-3 Hokrof - 3-2, 3-4, 5-4, 5-6(11), 7-14 Mighty Oaks 4-1 Westline - 7-4, 4-3, 7-12, 4-1, 3-1 .....Kepmem 2-3 Otahel City - 7-4, 6-7, 7-1, 1-2, 0-5 .....Kupore 3-2 Mithazni - 1-2, 7-6, 2-4, 7-3, 8-4 .....Tsapna 2-3 Pasataki - 4-5, 3-0, 6-4, 3-6, 5-10 ....Fampalo 3-2 Sitache - 2-6, 11-4, 2-4, 5-1, 1-0 Hokrof 6, National 5 (11 innings): This feels like the game that ends the title race - one that National has to have, going to the bottom of the 9th with a 5-4 lead. Cleanup hitter LF Keinu Wapatsite delivered his 2nd RBI single of the night to tie the game, and little-used bench bat Lamaeku Salohela provided the walkoff heroics with another single. It'll probably be about two weeks before Mighty Oaks lock things up, but this game increased their lead to 9 games with 31 to play, and it would go up to 10 with 30 to play. Standings.......W..L -- Mighty Oaks.113 47-- ...National.103 57-- ...Pasataki..95 65-- .....Tsapna..94 66+1 .....Keleri..92 68-1 ....Cheshek..91 69-- .....Kepmem..91 69-- ..A.Spirits..87 73+1 ....Fampalo..81 79+2 .....Kupore..80 80-- ...Akashemo..78 82-3 ..Amnanache..77 83-- .....Lutrul..77 83-- ...Westline..70 90+2 ....Sitache..65 95-1 ....Nokelto..65 95+2 Otahel City..64 96----------------------------- -2 ..Sh.Eagles..63 97-1 .....Hokrof..62 98-- ...Mithazni..52 108In other news, what a huge week for Otahel City. After going 0-10 last week, they won 4 games at Nokelto, one of their rivals in the relegation fight, then picked off a big series win at home against BK Kepmem. They had previously lost their last eight series! But that's all it might take to survive in this season's EL. The relegation race is certainly something to watch. The next round of games could ratchet that up even further, with OCBC traveling to play the Eagles and Hokrof up north to play Sitache. Along with Nokelto, it appears that two of those five teams will be relegated, with lots still up in the air. Round 33: Kepmem vs. Kupore Fampalo vs. Nokelto Scouts Keleri vs. Mighty Oaks Mithazni vs. Amnanache Tsapna vs. National Westline vs. Akashemo Hokrof vs. Sitache Pasataki Galaxy vs. Lutrul Aroketsil Spirits vs. Cheshek Otahel City vs. Shunna Eagles Round 34: Shunna Eagles vs. Westline Cheshek vs. Otahel City Mighty Oaks vs. Tsapna Kupore vs. Fampalo Lutrul vs. Mithazni Amnanache vs. Hokrof Nokelto Scouts vs. Keleri Akashemo vs. Aroketsil Spirits National vs. Kepmem Sitache vs. Pasataki Galaxy |

Week 17: September 9-20
Had OOTP crash while simming week 18, having already posted week 17 without a save. So, this is a redux. 30 games to go, and as previously mentioned, the title fight is pretty much over but the relegation battle is more interesting than usual. A followup from the end of last week's series finales - in Cheshek's 3-2 loss to close their series against Keleri, SP Tsysi Fatsi suffered a season ending elbow injury that will cost him most of next season as well. Even at just 19 years old, Fatsi is considered the team's captain, so everyone in the Cheshek camp wishes him well. Round 33: .....Kepmem 2-3 Kupore - 0-3, 9-5, 1-3, 10-4, 4-8 ....Fampalo 2-3 Nokelto - 0-1, 3-0, 5-8, 6-3, 1-2 .....Keleri 1-4 Mighty Oaks - 0-3, 3-4, 2-5, 5-2, 4-11 ...Mithazni 2-3 Amnanache - 6-0, 4-1, 5-8, 1-3, 2-4 .....Tsapna 1-4 National - 1-6, 5-6(10), 1-7, 4-2, 4-7(12) ...Westline 2-3 Akashemo - 3-7, 6-4, 3-4(10), 4-8, 3-2 .....Hokrof 1-4 Sitache - 1-6, 3-4, 2-4, 0-10, 8-3 ...Pasataki 1-4 Lutrul - 1-3, 1-3, 9-2, 1-2, 4-6 ..A.Spirits 3-2 Cheshek - 1-4, 4-2, 3-1, 1-6, 8-5 Otahel City 1-4 Sh.Eagles - 6-5, 3-4, 0-2, 6-7(10), 0-13 Shunna Eagles 4, Otahel City 3: In this game also quite important in the relegation battle, Eagles 1B Teriwoma Etoso hit his 400th Elite League home run. Etoso, now 37, has spent 10 full years of his career outside of the EL, so this is a far cry from his professional total of 727. He hails from the Ransu area, and debuted for one of his local clubs, Amnanache, in 2002 as a 17-year-old. Subsequent stops have taken him to Akashemo United, the Alilia Waves, and Meka, before landing in the capital in 2020. Tsapna 4, National 2: National SP Wicharu Chishatopi is what you would call a "walking IL stint". He missed the first two months of this season after a torn labrum last October. In his return against Akashemo United in late April, he faced six batters, allowed 4 to score, and left with a hamstring tear. He finally made it back at the start of August, and had pitched pretty well... until tearing the same labrum in this start. Looks like he'll be back... right around late April next year. Lutrul 2, Pasataki Galaxy 1: Galaxy RF Timleni Chanesha was hit in the face by a pitch from Lutrul's Rani Chamloha in the top of the 3rd inning, causing a facial fracture. It looks as though he'll be OK, but the recovery probably ends Chanesha's season. The league's best offense loses its leadoff hitter, a bummer. Round 34: ..Sh.Eagles 3-2 Westline - 4-3, 2-8, 2-1, 4-1, 2-4 ....Cheshek 2-3 Otahel City - 5-6(11), 0-2, 3-8, 7-3, 12-5 Mighty Oaks 2-3 Tsapna - 3-1, 0-6, 6-4, 2-5, 2-8 .....Kupore 3-2 Fampalo - 1-3, 1-0, 9-5, 1-10, 8-6 .....Lutrul 3-2 Mithazni - 11-4, 2-1, 3-6, 2-5, 3-0 ..Amnanache 4-1 Hokrof - 5-1, 0-17, 4-3, 5-0, 5-4 ....Nokelto 0-5 Keleri - 0-5, 0-10, 5-6, 3-7, 4-8 ...Akashemo 2-3 A.Spirits - 1-5, 2-1, 0-10, 10-6(12), 0-8 ...National 3-2 Kepmem - 6-0, 3-0, 4-2, 3-4, 1-5 ....Sitache 1-4 Pasataki - 3-16, 5-7, 3-1, 0-12, 1-14 Pasataki Galaxy 16, Sitache 3: Galaxy C Repimi Cholomu has 4 extra-base hits and 6 RBI in this blowout win. Interestingly, despite only playing half the season, Cholomu is by far the EL's leader in stolen bases for a catcher, with 16 in 87 games. Only one other catcher has swiped more than 5 bags (Lutrul's Otsiku Kiwarshi, 8) Hokrof 17, Amnanache 0: Not much to say here, I just think it's really funny that a team can get outscored 25-19 for a series and still win 4 of the 5 games. It's also nice to see the normally stellar Amnanache pitching staff get blown up once in a while - this was the most runs they've allowed all season, and the first time they had allowed so many as 10 runs in a game since June 10! Standings.......W..L -- Mighty Oaks.119 51-- ...National.110 60-- ...Pasataki.100 70+1 .....Keleri..98 72-1 .....Tsapna..98 72-- ....Cheshek..95 75-- .....Kepmem..95 75-- ..A.Spirits..93 77+1 .....Kupore..86 84-1 ....Fampalo..85 85+1 ..Amnanache..84 86+1 .....Lutrul..84 86-2 ...Akashemo..83 87-- ...Westline..74 96+3 ..Sh.Eagles..70 100-1 ....Sitache..70 100-- Otahel City..68 102----------------------------- -2 ....Nokelto..68 102-- .....Hokrof..64 106-- ...Mithazni..56 114Remaining schedules for the five teams that look like they could get relegated: Shunna Eagles: vs. Fampalo, @ Keleri, vs. National, @ Tsapna Sitache: vs. Mithazni, @ Westline, vs. Keleri, @ Kupore Otahel City: @ Amnanache, vs. Hokrof, @ Pasataki Galaxy, vs. Aroketsil Spirits Nokelto Scouts: vs. Westline, @ National, vs. Mithazni, @ Mighty Oaks Hokrof: vs. Mighty Oaks, @ Otahel City, vs. Kepmem, @ Keleri Of those, the most favorable schedule probably belongs to Sitache, while the Eagles certainly have it hardest. It's unfortunate that there is only one series left between these teams directly, Hokrof/Otahel next weekend. We will also be on clinch-watch for Mighty Oaks BC - with a 9-game lead and 20 games to play, there's a chance that they could wrap up the EL crown at home against Akashemo on the weekend. Here's the full Week 18 schedule: Round 35: Tsapna vs. Akashemo Mithazni vs. Sitache Mighty Oaks vs. Hokrof Keleri vs. Aroketsil Spirits Kepmem vs. Lutrul Kupore vs. Pasataki Galaxy Fampalo vs. Shunna Eagles Westline vs. Nokelto Scouts National vs. Cheshek Otahel City vs. Amnanache Round 36: Pasataki Galaxy vs. Mithazni Aroketsil Spirits vs. Kepmem Sitache vs. Westline Hokrof vs. Otahel City Akashemo vs. Mighty Oaks Cheshek vs. Kupore Amnanache vs. Fampalo Shunna Eagles vs. Keleri Nokelto Scouts vs. National Lutrul vs. Tsapna Last edited by Ruwisc; 01-28-2026 at 01:29 AM. |

Week 18: September 21-October 2, 2022
It's the second-to-last week of the 2022 season, with a good bit still up in the air in the EL and beyond. First, an injury update from the end of last week. Keleri CF Rarehimi Pohyfe, in his first pinch-hitting appearance of the season, tore his Achilles while trying to go 1st-to-3rd on Tutiha Nsika's RBI single. Surprisingly for an Achilles tear, he is expected to be ready for the start of the 2023 season. The oft-injured Pohyfe has descended into "Wrecked" territory lately, which tends to mean he'll take on 5-7 different injuries through the course of a season in a fairly non-realistic way - he only played 74 games this season through all of them. Round 35: .....Tsapna 3-2 Akashemo - 4-5, 4-0, 4-3, 6-7, 4-2(10) ...Mithazni 2-3 Sitache - 8-1, 7-8, 2-4, 11-3, 1-4 Mighty Oaks 4-1 Hokrof - 14-1, 6-4, 5-7, 5-0, 13-5 .....Keleri 2-3 A.Spirits - 5-6(10), 2-6, 5-3(10), 6-5(11), 7-11 .....Kepmem 4-1 Lutrul - 5-8, 2-1, 4-2, 9-5, 10-3 .....Kupore 1-4 Pasataki - 3-6, 3-5, 5-15, 4-5, 4-0 ....Fampalo 1-4 Sh.Eagles - 3-2(10), 0-1, 3-4, 0-5, 3-4 ...Westline 5-0 Nokelto - 8-6, 5-2, 8-4, 3-2, 8-0 ...National 4-1 Cheshek - 5-3, 12-5, 5-2, 4-9, 8-4(11) Otahel City 2-3 Amnanache - 4-0, 0-1(10), 7-3, 2-3, 1-5 National 5, Cheshek 3: another baserunning injury, with Cheshek wunderkind OF/1B Syshawe Arachihe ending his rookie season with a broken thumb from a home plate collision (at least he was safe). We haven't really checked in on Arachihe this season, but he is definitely living up to the hype. 36 HR this season and a titanic 183 walks, a number that only Barry Bonds has hit in MLB. Once his hit tool develops a bit more (.249 average this year), he will be a really, really dangerous all-around hitter. Amnanache 1, Otahel City 0 (10 innings): Otahel SP Tesemi Mpetu took a no-hitter into the 8th inning of this matchup, but his offense could not help him out. Mpetu would end up with a no-decision in the game as City managed just 4 hits of their own. Round 36: ...Pasataki 5-0 Mithazni - 7-2, 12-2, 7-3, 20-0, 11-8(10) ..A.Spirits 4-1 Kepmem - 3-0, 9-7, 6-3, 1-2, 11-0 ....Sitache 2-3 Westline - 12-5, 6-8(11), 3-7, 3-10, 5-3 .....Hokrof 1-4 Otahel City - 1-14, 1-5, 5-4, 2-4, 3-7 ...Akashemo 1-4 Mighty Oaks - 1-5, 2-3, 3-1, 1-3, 3-4 ....Cheshek 2-3 Kupore - 2-7, 2-9, 8-3, 1-5, 8-5 ..Amnanache 2-3 Fampalo - 13-8, 3-4, 0-3, 4-3, 2-6 ..Sh.Eagles 1-4 Keleri - 2-6, 1-5, 2-5, 4-5(10), 3-1 ....Nokelto 0-5 National - 4-5, 2-7, 0-1, 6-7, 5-9 .....Lutrul 1-4 Tsapna - 4-1, 5-9, 3-7, 2-5, 2-3(11) Pasataki Galaxy 12, Mithazni 2: Galaxy OF Tsata Mote hit 2 homers and had 8 RBI in this game, including a grand slam that busted open a 3-2 game. This is the 5th instance on the season of a player having 8+ RBI in a game, but the 4th to be accomplished by the Galaxy! Not that surprising for the league's best offense, to be fair. All of the other three were accomplished by his currently-injured teammate, SS Atsi Keana, who has had a really interesting first season in the EL that I hope to talk about over the offseason. With this loss, Mithazni become the first team to be officially relegated from the Elite League. I have really been rooting for them this season but there's not much that went right. More on this at season's end. Standings.......W..L -- Mighty Oaks.127 53-- ...National.119 61-- ...Pasataki.109 71+1 .....Tsapna.105 75-1 .....Keleri.104 76+2 ..A.Spirits.100 80-- .....Kepmem.100 80-2 ....Cheshek..98 82-- .....Kupore..90 90-- ....Fampalo..89 91-- ..Amnanache..89 91-- .....Lutrul..86 94-- ...Akashemo..86 94-- ...Westline..82 98-- ..Sh.Eagles..75 105-- ....Sitache..75 105-- Otahel City..74 106----------------------------- -- ....Nokelto..68 112-- .....Hokrof..66 114-- ...Mithazni..58 122What had been a tight race for relegation survival has become suddenly much less interesting. Nokelto Scouts and Hokrof BC combined to win just two games this week, and it would now take a miracle for either of them to survive the drop. They've been in the EL for 7 and 5 seasons, respectively. While none of Shunna Eagles, Sitache, or Otahel City have actually clinched their place in next year's EL, they were all 5-5 or better for the week and now seem pretty safe. The title clinch also did not come for Mighty Oaks this week, largely because National had a great week (going 9-1). The race is not really in doubt, but it does mean they will probably not clinch at home, with the magic number at 3 and a visit to Amnanache on the horizon to start next week. Before week 19 actually comes, in the next post I'll do a quick roundup of the promotion races in lower leagues. Let's get a quick look at who might be joining the top 17 in next year's Elite League. Round 37: Keleri vs. Sitache Mithazni vs. Nokelto Scouts Tsapna vs. Cheshek Fampalo vs. Aroketsil Spirits Westline vs. Lutrul Kupore vs. Akashemo Kepmem vs. Hokrof Mighty Oaks vs. Amnanache National vs. Shunna Eagles Otahel City vs. Pasataki Galaxy Round 38: Pasataki Galaxy vs. Kepmem Hokrof vs. Keleri Aroketsil Spirits vs. Otahel City Cheshek vs. Mithazni Amnanache vs. Westline Shunna Eagles vs. Tsapna Akashemo vs. Fampalo Nokelto Scouts vs. Mighty Oaks Lutrul vs. National Sitache vs. Kupore |

2022 Final Week – Pro/Rel Update (Tiers 2-3)
Second League Promotion (3 teams go up) Probably safe: ![]() ![]() Shunna Municipal BC (Shunna): (119-61) Meka BC (Meka, TA): (114-66) Meka have pretty much led the Second League wire-to-wire, so I hope this slip doesn't cost them their promotion. Often, 114 wins is enough to be promoted full-stop: Otahel City were promoted from the 2L with a 113-77 record last year. This time, they may need a few extra, but it would still take a disastrous final week to cost them. As I think I've mentioned before, this would be their first time being promoted to the Elite League, and Meka would be by far the smallest city to ever house an EL club (pop. 14,400). In the mix: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Semyof BC (Ransu, RA): 109-71 Tishmin BC (Tishmin, ZA): 109-71 Ransu Shockers (Ransu, RA): 107-73 Nokir BC (Tenshemaho, ZA): 105-75 One of these teams will take the third spot, two from the north and two from the south. All have a good deal of EL pedigree, with Tishmin being the furthest removed having last been relegated in 2012. In the original iteration of this pyramid, back in OOTP18 (or whatever version it was), there was a "Big Five" of clubs that dominated the EL over its entire history, and Semyof, the Shockers, and Nokir were all part of it, so that gave me a smile when looking over the standings here. Mighty Oaks were one of those clubs as well, but the 5th, Sky Blues BC, fell apart financially and now play in the bottom tier of Tsawemoko's state leagues. Key series: Round 37: Nokir vs. Semyof Round 38: Tishmin vs. Nokir Nokir have a tough road to promotion, and technically they don't control their own destiny, but it feels like they do. Relegation (4 teams go down) Clinched: ![]() ![]() Wichku BC (Aksa, ZA): 66-114 Mamtul Wolves (Mamtul, EM): 62-118 Doesn't look good: ![]() ![]() Rasenok BC (Shepero, PI): 73-107 Linir BC (Nokelto, CA): 72-108 Rasenok sits 4 games from safety with 10 to play, so I wouldn't bet on a comeback. They've been an EL team before (as recently as 2011), while none of the others have. This was Wichku's first season reaching the Second League, in fact. Rasenok have a quite difficult closing schedule, going against Muni and Tishmin, while Linir's outlook is better while also having an extra game to make up. Northern Premier League Promotion (2 teams go up) In the mix: ![]() ![]() ![]() Yasral BC (Ransu, RA): 120-60 Sunoki Hearts (Ransu, RA): 119-61 Moonside BC (Eroha, RP): 117-63 Two of these three teams will definitely go up. It's been tight the entire season, although Moonside has been chasing more than leading throughout the second half. None of these teams will play each other, so it's fully up to executing in the final week. Relegation (4 teams go down) Clinched: ![]() ![]() Sapoyo Tortoises (Sapoyo, LS): 67-113 Lesha BC (Ransu, RA): 41-139 Doesn't look good: ![]() ![]() Oyefit BC (Oyefit, CA): 76-104 Moshelosi BC (Penhara, HO): 73-107 Maybe in danger: ![]() Losap BC (Kiyefexit, LS): 79-107 What went wrong for Lesha? They were promoted from tier 4 last season but didn't seemingly fortify at all. In contrast to how OOTP blowups seemingly usually go, they have a fairly balanced roster (albeit only 26 players under contract), but only about half their starting lineup is worth playing at this level. None of the teams in danger play each other this week, so we'll just wait and see. Southern Premier League Promotion (2 teams go up) Clinched: ![]() Fese BC (Susekyemep, ZA): 119-61 Fese has been miles ahead of the pack for the entire season. This'll be their first time in the Second League, having achieved four straight promotions from 2016-2019. In the mix: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Killitash Bayside (Killitash, ZA): 104-76 Sachlihe BC (Shunna): 103-77 Himespo BC (Himespo, RT): 102-78 Fachi BC (Hokrof, TA): 101-79 Shepero BC (Shepero, PI): 101-79 Wikyats Athletic (Tenshemaho, ZA): 100-80 Killitash Stars (Killitash, ZA): 100-80 The race for the last promotion place is quite crowded, with only one of these 7 teams able to go up. 4 games is a lot to make up in a week, but it could definitely happen! Key series: Round 37: Sachlihe vs. K.Stars, Wikyats vs. Fachi, Fese vs. Himespo Round 38: Himespo vs. Wikyats, Shepero vs. Sachlihe Bayside have the biggest advantage, with a game lead and as the only team in this group that doesn't play any of the others. Relegation (4 teams go down) Clinched: ![]() ![]() Hechemi United (Hechemi, PI): 67-113 Hefem Monarchs (Hefem, EM): 65-115 In the mix: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hefem Rangers (Hefem, EM): 80-100 Hilas BC (Hilas, PI): 79-101 Somno BC (Somno, KL): 76-104 Aksa Hornets (Aksa, ZA): 73-107 Key series: Round 37: Hechemi United vs. Aksa Hornets Round 38: Aksa Hornets vs. Hefem Rangers Rangers and Hilas are probably OK, but can't rest over this final week. That covers tiers 2-3, which feels like enough for a last-week preview. We'll have a nationwide review after the final week of games. On we go! |

Week 19: October 3-14, 2022
The final week is upon us! There's not much up for grabs, but Mighty Oaks still have not fully clinched their third consecutive title, holding an 8-game lead with 10 games to play. Similar story at the bottom of the table; there's a 6-game gap between 17th and 18th place, so the relegated teams appear to be Nokelto Scouts, Hokrof BC, and Mithazni BC, but only Mithazni is guaranteed to drop. Round 37: .....Keleri 4-1 Sitache - 3-0, 4-1, 3-8, 9-1, 7-5 ...Mithazni 1-4 Nokelto - 5-7, 3-8, 3-4, 4-5, 5-3 .....Tsapna 5-0 Cheshek - 8-3, 3-2, 3-1, 5-3, 7-6(13) ....Fampalo 2-3 A.Spirits - 4-3, 3-6, 3-5, 3-1, 2-5 ...Westline 4-1 Lutrul - 3-4(10), 6-3(11), 9-2, 6-0, 3-2 .....Kupore 3-2 Akashemo - 2-0, 3-7, 5-3, 3-1, 7-10 .....Kepmem 2-3 Hokrof - 3-5, 5-6, 8-6, 6-3, 3-4 Mighty Oaks 3-2 Amnanache - 11-5, 7-2, 0-8, 0-1, 8-1 ...National 4-1 Sh.Eagles - 4-2(10), 9-1, 5-3, 4-1, 1-3 Otahel City 1-4 Pasataki - 2-5, 3-0, 3-7, 1-3, 4-5(10) BK Kepmem 6, Hokrof 3: With this loss, Hokrof were mathematically relegated with six games remaining. As the only EL team from their area of Lokasi, they had carried the banner for the prairies for the past few years. Unfortunately for them, there's a high-flying team from the same state coming up to replace them... but more on that later. Keleri 9, Sitache 1: Part of a six-homer outburst for Keleri, RF Shatso Reseke, 21, had his first career 3-homer game tonight. Quite a nice overall season for him, with 43 bombs and a .338 average. He should be a down-ballot MVP vote-getter. Mighty Oaks 8. Amnanache 1: Having failed to clinch in the third and fourth games of the series, the Oaks' lineup had a bit of frustration to deal with in this series finale, but here on October 8, they jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after 3 innings and held quite easily. So, I can finally say: Mighty Oaks BC are the 2022 Elite League champions! This is the 7th title for the pride of the Oak City, pulling them even with Semyof BC for the second-most all time, behind Keleri's 12 championships. All of the Mighty Oaks championships have occurred since 2008, so this is definitely their age (though Keleri still have five championships in that time as well!). Round 38: ...Pasataki 3-2 Kepmem - 3-6, 4-6, 6-1, 5-2, 12-4 .....Hokrof 1-4 Keleri - 1-12, 11-5, 1-6, 1-8, 0-15 ..A.Spirits 2-3 Otahel City - 4-9, 3-1, 3-10, 6-4, 8-10 ....Cheshek 3-2 Mithazni - 4-0, 8-3, 3-1, 2-5, 3-7 ..Amnanache 3-2 Westline - 2-4, 3-2, 5-2, 3-4, 8-6 ..Sh.Eagles 2-3 Tsapna - 2-5, 9-6, 4-5, 2-4, 5-1 ...Akashemo 3-2 Fampalo - 0-3, 9-8, 3-12, 6-0, 10-5 ....Nokelto 3-2 Mighty Oaks - 3-2, 5-7, 6-2, 1-5, 4-2 .....Lutrul 1-4 National - 4-13, 5-6, 1-5, 2-6, 1-0 ....Sitache 2-3 Kupore - 6-3, 0-5, 2-3, 0-5, 5-3 Keleri 12, Hokrof 1: Not to be outdone by his teammate Raseke, Keleri SS Poem Solicha also tacked on a 3-homer game in this final week. The 3-time Gold Glover is much more known for his acumen in the field, but has hit over 400 professional home runs to boot. He's about to be a pretty highly-sought-after free agent, I would think. Pretty poor contact skills but you'll take whatever you can get offensively with that good a shortstop. Otahel City 10, Aroketsil Spirits 3: With this win, Otahel becomes the 17th and final team to secure their continued place in next year's Elite League, condemning the Nokelto Scouts to relegation. October 14: On the morning of the season's final game, the Pasataki Galaxy announce that they've agreed to a 7-year, $101-million contract extension with star 2B Apia Lela. You might recall (might) that Lela went unsigned all last offseason, only to re-sign with the Galaxy three games into the season. This turned out to be a perfect reunion, as he played 184 of the remaining 187 games for the Galaxy and was a spark plug in the leadoff spot for the league's best offense by far. Now, he will remain with Pasataki through his age-36 season. Final Standings.....W..L -- Mighty Oaks.132 58-- ...National.127 63-- ...Pasataki.116 74-- .....Tsapna.113 77-- .....Keleri.112 78-- ..A.Spirits.105 85-- .....Kepmem.104 86-- ....Cheshek.101 89-- .....Kupore..96 94+1 ..Amnanache..94 96-1 ....Fampalo..93 97+1 ...Akashemo..91 99+1 ...Westline..88 102-2 .....Lutrul..88 102-- ..Sh.Eagles..78 112+1 Otahel City..78 112-1 ....Sitache..78 112----------------------------- -- ....Nokelto..75 115-- .....Hokrof..70 120-- ...Mithazni..61 129----------------------------- And that concludes the 2022 season, for the Elite League anyway. Before the full debrief, let's do a quick recap of the end of the promotion race and see who will be joining us next year: 1st: Shunna Municipal BC (127-63) 2nd: Meka BC (122-68) 3rd: Semyof BC (118-72) 4th: Tishmin BC (113-77) 5th: Ransu Shockers (112-78) 6th: Nokir BC (111-79) I mentioned that Nokir would have a say in who got promoted, playing both Semyof and Tishmin in the last week while having a chance to pass both. That turned out to pretty much be the difference - Nokir lost 4 of 5 to Semyof, eliminating themselves in the process, but then swept Tishmin to ensure that they wouldn't make it either, and it's Semyof who will return to the Elite League (where, honestly, they do belong). Plenty more to come, but congrats to these teams in particular. |

2022 End of Season – Stats Update
Batting race: Peku Karwo (1B, Aroketsil Spirits): .377 Solo Sipet (CF, National): .354 Wia Merefife (1B, Pasataki Galaxy) Karwo's second batting title, after winning it as a rookie in 2020. He upgraded on that crown this year by also leading the league in hits, doubles, OBP, slug%, and OPS, none of which he pulled off in 2020. Home runs: Rolana Rekesu (3B, Aroketsil Spirits): 64 Lope Shosotsoke (LF, Mithazni): 54 Ilye Nofetso (1B, Lutrul): 52 [color="navy"]Teyumpu Rei (2B, Westline): 52 Rekesu's third home run crown, though he didn't quite match his career high of 68 like I thought he might. RBI: Rolana Rekesu (3B, Aroketsil Spirits): 157 Somp Awia (1B, Mighty Oaks): 155 Pumona Kakosuta (RF, National): 154 Rekesu also prevailed in this back-and-forth race to win his second straight RBI crown. Nowhere close to a Triple Crown contender, if you were wondering - Rekesu isn't that type of hitter. He hit just .262 from an average standpoint and also led the league in strikeouts. But man he can mash it. Position player WAR: Lawori El (2B, Tsapna): 11.6 Nekafe Natso (SS, Kepmem): 11.4 Solo Sipet (CF, National): 10.6 After Natso had a full win-gap over the field 4 weeks ago, I mentioned being unsure whether he was MVP material. The hard-charging El and Sipet are much more in that mold - El has two MVPs and Sipet could easily win a couple before his career is said and done. Stolen bases: Sawita Pichake (2B, Shunna Eagles): 90 Ketso Kofmi (SS, Cheshek): 83 Lawori El (2B, Tsapna): 83 This was a big year for steals - no EL player had stolen as many as 80 bags in 3 years, and now all three of these guys did. Pichake is the first to steal 90 bases in seven years. (The all-time record of 156 steals by Uriyoko Forsako in the inaugural 1991 season feels unbreakable) ERA: Notsimi Feshasu (Mighty Oaks): 2.27 Laotso Tirionu (Amnanache): 2.68 Santa Ketitu (National): 2.89 Wins: Notsimi Feshasu (Mighty Oaks): 27-4 Santa Ketitu (National): 19-6 Lomunu Awia (Tsapna): 19-9 Strikeouts: Notsimi Feshasu (Mighty Oaks): 251 Laotso Tirionu (Amnanache): 250 Tsarase Roshoshe (Akashemo United): 248 It was quite close in the end, but Notsimi Feshasu becomes the fourth pitcher in Elite League history to win the Triple Crown. What an amazing season he had, also leading the league in innings pitched, WHIP, complete games, and having the league's lowest BABIP for the second year in a row (so weak contact). In 22 of his 38 starts, he allowed one or zero earned runs. Pretty remarkable year. Saves: Akawo Nylur (Tsapna): 60 Autsu Sikiura (Mighty Oaks): 53 Uteuche Rolei (Kepmem): 51 Huge leap for Nylur in his second year as the full-time closer - he allowed only 11 runs in 83.2 innings, a 1.18 ERA, and was 60-63 in save opportunities. He came one away from tying the all-time record of 61 from Womatsi Fifire, set in 1994. Pitcher WAR: Santa Ketitu (National): 8.4 Notsimi Feshasu (Mighty Oaks): 7.9 Tsai Reyolafa (Amnanache): 6.3 Ketitu still grabs the WAR crown, largely because of his FIP advantage from allowing 20% fewer homers and walks than Feshasu did. A really great season in its own right, though I would still expect Feshasu to be named Pitcher of the Year, and likely unanimously. |

2022 Year in Review - Tiers 2-4
For the completionists among you, I'll run down the standings for the top 8 tiers in the next few posts. First, tiers 2-4. I'm going to try to have something interesting to say about each league, though I might be stretching at points! Second League ............Muni.127 63 ............Meka.122 68 ..........Semyof.118 72-------------------- .........Tishmin.113 77 ..Ransu Shockers.112 78 ...........Nokir.111 79 ......A.Canaries.107 83 ......Yoho Bears.100 90 ...Swans Menmapa..94 96 ......Nipte City..94 96 .....Nokelto Utd..91 99 .........Takanse..89 101 ...Tenshe.Rubies..86 104 Pelpitimochu Utd..85 105 .........Penhara..82 108 ..........Onesti..81 109-------------------- ...........Linir..77 113 .........Rasenok..75 115 ..........Wichku..70 120 ...Mamtul Wolves..66 124All three of last year's relegated teams fared fairly well, with Muni and Semyof earning immediate re-promotions and the Canaries in 7th. Semyof has an unusually high number of players who are still around from their 2021 team; typically relegation absolutely blows up a roster because most players have relegation release clauses in their contracts. We'll have to see how that affects their offseason. None of the relegated teams are real tragedies, although Rasenok BC has played 7 seasons in the EL. Northern Premier League ...Sunoki Hearts.125 65 ..........Yasral.125 65-------------------- ........Moonside.124 66 .Alilia Captains.112 78 ....Tsutonsu Utd.112 78 ...Sowichark Utd.102 88 ....Lempisho Utd.100 90 ......Hiolye Utd.100 90 .........Loshtsi..98 92 Enihaka Cyclones..95 95 ........Lisa Utd..93 97 .....Ransu Ports..92 98 ............Kine..92 98 .........Shalish..91 99 .......Atafe Utd..87 103 ..........Oyefit..80 110-------------------- ...........Losap..80 110 .......Moshelosi..75 115 Sapoyo Tortoises..73 117 ...........Lesha..44 146A 7-3 final week was not quite enough for Moonside, so the two teams from Ransu edge it out and capture the top two spots. On the other side, Losap BC (Kiyefexit, LS) entered the final week with a 3-game lead over Oyefit BC, but squandered it by going 1-9 and losing the run differential tiebreaker by 23 runs. Tough pill for Losap, who last season tied their all-time high water mark by finishing 9th in the NPL. I would expect OF Tseiriki Tushifo to be a target for EL teams after his relegation clause was triggered - league-leading 67 HR this season as a 18-year-old. Overall, the lower tiers of Lokasi baseball are a much more pitching-friendly environment, especially in tiers 5-7, but here in tier 3 is where it starts to be statistically evident. That's characterized I think most by a pair of Moonside pitchers, Pilau Mote & Enalo Mosaka, who topped the NPL with 428 and 380 strikeouts, respectively. The EL-leading total of Notsimi Feshasu was just 251! It's just a different environment. Mosaka pitched in the EL for the Galaxy last year, and only recorded 140 strikeouts in a full season. Southern Premier League ............Fese.125 65 ...Killi.Bayside.111 79-------------------- ........Sachlihe.108 82 ...........Fachi.108 82 .........Himespo.107 83 .........Shepero.107 83 .........Wikyats.105 85 .Killitash Stars.104 86 ......Feshuyalya.103 87 .........Amkutan..99 91 South Shore Aksa..92 98 Killitash Giants..88 102 ....Tinshenikosh..88 102 .......Takelehun..87 103 ...Hefem Rangers..86 104 ...........Hilas..83 107-------------------- ...........Somno..80 110 ....Aksa Hornets..78 112 ..Hefem Monarchs..71 119 .....Hechemi Utd..70 120In a crowded promotion race, Bayside's easier closing schedule saw their placement hold up, earning promotion to the 2L for the first time. The 7 teams in contention nearly stayed in exactly the same order over the final week. Fachi RF Lanoko Newi, just 17, hit the most home runs of any player in any league this season with 69. Fachi, who play in Hokrof, were one of the northernmost teams in the SPL - they have been shifted to the other side of the line & will play in the NPL in 2023. (Three of the four relegated teams from the Second League were southern teams.) Shepero P Shashacheta Kakosuta crossed the 190 innings threshold in late July, qualifying early for the ERA title... then immediately blew out his elbow, missing the final 2 1/2 months of the season but winning the ERA crown with a microscopic 1.17 in 192 innings. Interesting timing there Northern Super League ............Pale.113 71 ............Fure.111 73 ...........Sakse.109 75 ..Hokrof Beavers.108 76-------------------- ............Reli.102 82 ......Y.Warriors..99 85 ...........Lacho..98 86 .....Onemasi Utd..97 87 ...........Rukip..96 88 .........Shusnum..92 92 .Kepits Bulldogs..92 92 .........Tesoshi..92 92 ....Fampalo City..91 93 .......Fire Ants..89 95 ........Tsatsaye..87 97 ............Lulo..85 99 .........Santaku..84 100 ......Afarpo Utd..83 101 ......Malshe Utd..83 101 ..........Alilia..83 101-------------------- ....Puchetoshaya..81 103 Muhankas Jesters..81 103 ..........Shoron..76 108 ..........Pitste..76 108The NSL this year was a win for the little guys - Pale and Sakse are some of the smallest towns represented this high up the pyramid. Fure is a bit bigger, in the sense that the average Lokasi person would know roughly where it is, but still not huge (pop. 97,000). Given that there are six cities represented in this group with over half a million people, that's a win. A few posts ago, I profiled the Pale Eagles as perhaps the worst team in the nation (which didn't end up being true, but which would have been good clickbait). Pale BC are the town's main club, and they're interesting for the scale of their finances. They ran a payroll of $29 million this season while only having revenues of $17 million, leading the league in both wins and losses (in a sense). This partially comes about because of relegation - Pale had been in the NPL last season and expected the revenue that comes with that - but also because it seems like teams are willing to overextend themselves financially if there is a good chance of promotion, which seems pretty sensible. Lo and behold, their projected budget for the 2023 season has doubled to $35 million. Southern Super League .......Sokroch.120 64 .......Mewofes.117 67 ......Sapphire.115 69 ........Sheshu.105 79-------------------- ......Sipliyak.103 81 .....Sashrotse.103 81 ......Yewetats.102 82 ....Tokos City.101 83 .Shepero Bulls..97 87 ........Rontok..94 90 ......Neshpeki..93 91 .....Air Force..93 91 .Olosharpo Utd..91 93 ......NK Royan..88 96 ...Hefem Lions..86 98 .......Shizpos..86 98 .......Neshori..85 99 ...Somno Stars..84 100 ..........Nesi..81 103 Mamtul Jaguars..79 105-------------------- ........Chilka..76 108 ...Ehosh Blues..73 111 ......Noyelits..70 114 ..........Sika..66 118The Super Leagues are the largest leagues in the pyramid at 24 teams apiece, and that sometimes makes it hard for me to have anything insightful to say about them. There's just a lot of information to take in all at once. It also seems to be the tier of the pyramid that's easiest to pass through: if a team is on an upward trajectory, they usually get promoted without too much issue, and it's true in the opposite direction too. It's rare for a team that suffers a period of relegations and long decline to be able to fight their way all the back to the top, but that's what Sipliyak BC (Tenshemaho) are trying to do. The 1996 and 1997 Sipliyak teams both finished in the top 5 of the Elite League, but by 2000 they were relegated, and from 2011-2014 suffered four successive relegations that brought them from the Southern Premier League all the way to the tier-7 South Sea Regional Championship. It's only now that they've been pulling out of that spiral, and they just nearly missed out on their third straight promotion here. Manager Les Spopme retired after six seasons on the job, so the way forward isn't super obvious, but the long-term outlook for one of the Second City's most traditionally successful clubs is bright. |

2022 Year in Review - Tiers 5-6
In tiers 5-6, the country is divided into four regions: Northeast, Mideast, Western and Southern. Mideast League One ........Wuhalale.122 48 .........Tsanmet.108 62-------------------- .......Hertulsho.100 70 .......Chohe Utd.100 70 ........Tono Utd..91 79 .....Enfayot Utd..91 79 ..Fuwarni Flames..86 84 ...........Kamin..85 85 Aroketsil Forest..84 86 ..Oak City Boars..83 87 .........Keptiya..83 87 ......Feche Town..82 88 ...........Sanor..79 91 ......Malro City..75 95 ...Kanchipso Utd..74 96-------------------- ........Sutineli..67 103 .........Rulakyu..60 110 .........Chetras..60 110A lot of teams here that remind me of the original version of the Lokasi baseball pyramid. Seeing Sutineli BC (Ukaulo, KL) pass across my screen especially always gives me a smile. In the original version, Sutineli staged what I would qualify as the greatest single inning of baseball I've ever seen. Playing in the Northern Premier League, and trailing Litsini BC 10-2 in the bottom of the 9th on the season's final day, Sutineli scored 11 runs to win 13-10 and save themselves from relegation in the process. Oak City Boars are also a welcome sight, deriving their name just as Mighty Oaks did from the nickname of their home city of Aroketsil. In that same original version, OCB were Elite League regulars and the Oaks' biggest local rival, rather than the Spirits as it is now. Northeast League One ...Kolansolo Utd.109 61 Oshotater Rubies.104 66-------------------- .....Fampalo Utd.102 68 .........Onemasi.101 69 ....Ransu Giants..94 76 ...Haitro Sufawa..92 78 .....Ransu Stars..89 81 .....O.Cardinals..87 83 .Sitache Liberty..86 84 ..Shosha Rangers..84 86 ............Nala..81 89 ..........Nuchre..81 89 ........Mimo Utd..80 90 ....Ransu Cobras..75 95 ......Numko Bees..75 95-------------------- ......Meyee City..66 104 ...........Leson..66 104 .....Ronikashili..58 112At the mouth of the Lon Sifn river, Kolansolo is the traditional home of Lokasi's maritime industry. Kolansolo teams are sometimes grouped with the Mideast leagues due to being further down the coast - in fact, Kolansolo United arrived in this league not via promotion or relegation, but via transfer from Mideast League One a few years ago. Oshotater, home of the also-promoted Rubies, is also in Lon Sifn, but up north near the Chastara border. Southern League One .........Renfiso.119 51 ..........Neshta.104 66-------------------- ........Netserat..92 78 .......Kiri Town..90 80 .Tenshemaho City..90 80 ...........Tatya..90 80 Aksa Green Storm..88 82 ..........Tepche..88 82 Efiro Red Devils..86 84 ...Pioneers Men...84 86 Tishmin Chargers..81 89 ............Mima..81 89 ..Tenshe.Prairie..80 90 .Yusut Battalion..75 95 .....Bricklayers..74 96-------------------- .............Kol..74 96 ....NK Tanisokin..67 103 ....Whales Punem..67 103Tenshemaho City 1B Kiosho Mutsetsi is a statistical marvel. Despite being a beefy 6'6", his best asset has always been his speed. He played 12 years in the Elite League, split evenly between his hometown Nokir, Tsapna, and Shunna Eagles, and did hit nearly 350 home runs in that time, but during his time with the Eagles in his late 20s he began stealing at an extraordinary rate. Now back in his home city and with his seventh team, Mutsetsi has just achieved something incredible for a 38-year-old first baseman: over 100 steals in a season! 103 to be exact, while being caught 24 times - not a bad ratio at all. And despite having a "wrecked" injury proneness level, he hasn't had a stint on the IL in six years. I wish I could interview this guy. Western League One ..........Motech.110 60 .Sametulshem Utd.109 61-------------------- .........Tsapich.102 68 ......Hokrof Utd..97 73 ...........Ruhap..91 79 ....Fitsafin Utd..90 80 .........Lathiki..88 82 .......Loshi Utd..87 83 .....Filtolo Utd..84 86 .......Kutis Utd..84 86 Shutsekomin City..83 87 .......Nipsi Utd..80 90 ..Lershukeso Utd..76 94 ..Shim.Crusaders..74 96 ....Uhot Coalmen..73 97-------------------- .......Chupelona..71 99 .....Koltsi Town..67 103 .........Tenemul..64 106Due to an injury to the starting backstop, Lershukeso United 1B Mai Awia was forced behind the plate for 33 games this season. It was quite valiant for him to give it a go, but he was charged with 46 passed balls during those 33 games, the 2nd-most in all of Lokasi organized baseball with the most being a state league team. Across the pyramid, there are about a dozen cases I can find of these long-term emergency catchers, including a much shorter stint for Kepmem's Lofi Wesasoe in the EL, but this one was probably the most disastrous. Mideast League Two ......Seshal Ath.110 60 ......Tenelemsha.109 61 .........Teshesa.101 69-------------------- Shunna Volunteer.100 70 .....Nopasen Utd..95 75 .........Sulchan..92 78 ....Shunna Blues..92 78 ........Fori Utd..88 82 .........Enfayot..87 83 ............Kuna..85 85 .......Ketsrohef..79 91 .......Mipokefre..79 91 ...Fapakahi Rams..72 98 ...........Rekya..71 99-------------------- .........Chirshe..70 100 .......Raponimos..70 100 ..Hefem Rivermen..67 103 ........Payentak..63 107Having a pretty tough time finding something interesting to say about this league, if I'm honest. One team really stands out for their sheer mediocrity - Kuna BC (Kuna, PI) have spent 22 of the last 26 seasons in this league since being promoted here after the 1996 season. They were promoted to Mideast League One once, lasted two seasons, and came back down; they've been relegated to the Central Championship twice, but immediately won promotion both times. Impressive level of averageness - no team has played more games in tier 6 of the pyramid than Kuna has. Northeast League Two ......Shotiskir.103 67 .Heshatesh City..96 74 ....Sitache Utd..96 74-------------------- .........Irtasa..92 78 ...Alilia Waves..91 79 .........Lotiru..90 80 ..........Raref..89 81 .......Muhankas..88 82 ..........Numko..87 83 ......Tseronats..86 84 ...Ransu Center..85 85 .......Rama Utd..84 86 .......Ashishwa..83 87 Surai Scorpions..81 89-------------------- ....S.Cavaliers..75 95 ......Simofchap..72 98 .....Nukimi Utd..71 99 .........Patsem..61 109Lotiru, LS is a pretty unassuming little city, but in 2022 it was the home of Lokasi's most durable pitcher, Siteye Aoko. Aoko logged 15 complete games this season, 5 of which were shutouts, and threw 277 innings in total across his 34 starts. That includes one start in which he left during the first inning with an injury - if you remove that game, he averaged over 8 1/3 innings per start for the full season and never logged fewer than 7 innings in a game. Southern League Two ............Wulu.107 63 ........Chanilra..99 71 ......Efiro Aces..98 72-------------------- ....Asukot Sting..96 74 ......Mereni Bay..92 78 .Susekyemep City..91 79 .......Kerawefta..87 83 Tekulroyana City..87 83 ..........Motsuf..84 86 ........Ishiyets..84 86 ...........Nokne..84 86 .......Killitash..83 87 .......Yusut Utd..76 94 ....P.Blackbirds..74 96-------------------- ......Hikalu Utd..74 96 .......Siyostuli..73 97 ....Heyesit City..72 98 .....T City West..69 101Lokasi has four states that are separated from the mainland: Rupakare to the northwest, Efiro to the southwest, Menmako to the east/southeast, and Rutepiyo to the southeast. Because only the top two tiers of the pyramid are nation-wide, there has never been a time where teams from all four island states played in the same league together, and in 2022, this is the only league that had teams from three island states: Kerawefta from Mamchi, Rutepiyo; BKK Ishiyets from Kiwa Ishiyets in Menmako, and five teams from Efiro, the most they're represented in any non-state league. Western League Two ...Aka.Clippers.110 60 ........Nuretom.103 67 ....Kepits City.102 68-------------------- ...Shempi Stars..90 80 .......Yokohelu..89 81 Penhara Bengals..88 82 .Shiwemin Gulls..88 82 ......Yalir Utd..84 86 ......Felti Utd..84 86 ....Leshest Utd..82 88 .......Siteparu..81 89 ........Yunahus..81 89 .Chochitinkeshu..81 89 .........Moncha..79 91-------------------- ....Tenemul Utd..77 93 .......Tisharan..76 94 ......Nitanlako..73 97 ....Fure Angels..62 108Kepits City CF Tsarase Ilie had a pretty remarkable year, being the 2nd-highest WAR accumulator across the pyramid all season with 17.1 wins of value. He mainly hit leadoff for a team iwth a pretty weak bottom of the lineup, so despite hitting 59 homers, he somehow only drove in 80 runs, which doesn't even feel possible. A .325/.434/.669 slash line with good CF defense is quite good no matter how you slice it - this guy should probably be playing at a much higher level than this. |

2022 Year in Review - Tiers 7-8
In tiers 7-8, the country is divided into 8 regions, roughly using a map that you can see in post #35 of this thread. There's not a direct correlation that determines which 7th-tier leagues ("Championships") promote into which 6th-tier leagues, but you can imagine there is a pretty stable flow between, say, the Northeast Championship and Northeast League Two. I'm gonna forgo trying to come up with something interesting to say about each league, because that turned out to be really difficult for tier 6. Tier 7: Regional Championships Tier 7 is perhaps the level where the widest talent gap exists - there are players here that would be playable for EL teams, just very sparsely. For example, Yahofel Thunderbolts SS Kotsashu Lutsolo would be an average Elite League shortstop, with no real weaknesses in his game, good personality traits, and a strong defensive profile. But he's here, tearing up the Northwest Regional Championship instead, with 13.6 WAR, an OPS over 1.100, 49 HR and 95 RBI in 120 games, while being under contract through 2026. I feel that this helps to bridge the gap between the effectively-amateur state leagues and the more professionalized nationwide and regional leagues, so that teams don't get promoted or relegated too fast. Still, teams from this level can rocket up the pyramid over time - Meka BC was promoted from the Northwest League in 1993, and they're about to join the Elite League for 2023. These teams are being shifted from one league to another in the same tier, in order to satisfy geographical concerns. It might feel like a lot to realign every offseason, but this is one of the things that helps me retain my knowledge of Lokasi geography. Not too many changes this year:
Tier 3: Fachi BC - Southern Premier League to Northern Premier LeagueTier 5: Yusut Battalion - Southern League One to Mideast League OneTier 7: Posun United - Central Championship to Prairie ChampionshipTier 8: Malwerichu Town - Northeast League to Mideast League Fapakahi City - Southern League to South Sea League Fapakahi United - Southern League to South Sea League Ehosh BC - South Sea League to Southern LeagueThe two teams from Fapakahi were transferred from the Central League to the Southern League last season, and they're now on the move again. Fapakahi is in south-central Ketsis Sheru, so the ideal spot for those teams is probably the Central League, but there has been a shortage of tier-8 teams from the south, apparently. 2022 Elite League Awards Gold Gloves .P Mafuke Yshetsea.C Pusituli Fomochi1B Kashuma Rehefeo2B Sawita Pichake3B Arurke TimaereSS Ketso KofmiLF Faruo AyekreaCF Toyeseshi ShocheyeRF Selo SisiluSilver Sluggers .P Shaltseri Kalorotiha.C Kiposo Hatsalicho1B Peku Karwo2B Lawori El3B Rolana RekesuSS Nekafe NatsoLF Takipuse ShihoeCF Solo SipetRF Shatso ResekeManager of the Year Kechi MihauwyMihauwy goes out on top, winning the award for the fourth time to go along with his four championship rings. Reliever of the Year Akawo Nylur (20) Autsu Sikiura Fakaki OrukusaNylur had a spectacular 1.18 ERA this season, which equated to a 358 ERA+ and over 4 wins' worth of WAR, pretty mind-blowing for a closer. No surprise that this was unanimous. Pitcher of the Year Notsimi Feshasu (20) Santa Ketitu Laotso Tirionu Lohy Awia Sefti MerefifeFeshasu wins unanimously, as expected - he was the total package this season, doing everything at an elite level. Most Valuable Player Peku Karwo (13) Rolana Rekesu (5) Nekafe Natso (2) Somp Awia Solo SipetThis was a much more open race, by contrast, and I didn't really know what would happen. Karwo, as mentioned previously, won the batting title and also led the league in doubles, OBP and slugging percentage. It was a worse year for the Spirits in the standings, but they pick up their first major award winner, and second place to boot. I thought Tsapna's Lawori El would have a shot at winning, and he ended up 7th - it was a year without an obvious winner, which all things considered is a good thing. Nineteen different players from ten teams received MVP votes. -------------------------------------------------------- October Transactions October 17: - Somewhat unusually, no Elite League managers were fired at season's end, but there is one opening as legendary Mighty Oaks manager Kechi Mihauwy has announced his retirement. A lower-level pitcher in his playing days, Mihauwy became manager of the Nokelto Scouts in 1997, and led them until their relegation in 2001, at which point he was fired. Many other jobs followed, including stints with teams in tiers 3, 4, and 7, until a successful run with Tsutonsu United put him on the Oaks' radar. He was hired after the 2017 season and, in six years in Aroketsil, led the team to four Elite League championships. - By contrast, four teams fired their GMs, most prominently Tsapna's Shihiro Kayelili. Tsamo Fomochi (Kupore), Amela Pichake (Cheshek), and Tsepetsi Sayupapi (Sitache) were all also let go, and Teyumpu Posheni's (Kepmem) contract expired and was not renewed. - OF Yar Rolei announced his retirement - he played in the Elite League for four teams, most recently four years with Kepmem. His best years came in the Second League, but he recorded nearly 2000 EL hits and just as nearly 300 EL home runs. - Other retirements included Hokrof 3B Pumacha Layaka and Kupore SP Losaka Werori. - Lokasi does not hold a draft, and prospective players can sign with whoever they like. This offseason, players born in 2006 became eligible to sign pro contracts - this feels like a weaker class overall than last year. The top player for 2023 appears to be SP Kes Nokolo, a wiry right-hander who doesn't throw hard, but has a nasty sinker-splitter combo. Nokolo is from Seshal, on the outskirts of Hefem, so I wonder if he'll prefer to sign with Keleri. If not him, then I like catcher Neare Achoro, who isn't much of a defender behind the plate but will hit a ton of pro homers, or CF Chatiri Shosotsoke, who looks like he was grown in a lab to be the perfect leadoff hitter but might not be able to play CF long-term. Contract option/opt-out decisions:
October 21: The Oaks' new manager is Tishe Loap, a former low-level pitcher with no experience. I'm not sure how these coaching searches get made, because the Oaks should theoretically be able to poach anyone they want.

November 2022 Transactions
November 5: 41-year-old OF Ilye Lilo has been with Semyof through two relegations now, and the promotions back to the EL that followed, and he's choosing to stick around, signing a 2-year contract extension worth $5.6 million just before hitting free agency. Probably not a full-time starter ever again but he was an above average hitter in the Second League last year.November 6: Free agency day. 141 Elite League players became free agents today, plus thousands of others from lower leagues. On the first day of free agency, Fampalo strike with the first big amateur signing, bringing in SP Shutsichei Tinashatale on a 5-year contract worth $26 million. Tinashatale is an old-school type of pitcher, curveball-change-not much velo. He should slot right into the middle of the Fampalo rotation.November 10: Tsapna have acquired SS Kotsimare Wamia from the nearby Ransu Cobras (Northeast League One, tier 5) for not all that much but salary relief, with the Cobras in a bit of trouble. Wamia was a 12-win player in tier 5 last year, and likely displaces previous starter Kysatse Nysotof.November 13: Meka make their first signing as an EL club, landing arguably the 2nd-best amateur pitcher available in SP Fum Pese.November 14: A fairly rare trade between EL clubs. This one had former Lutrul SP Rani Chamloha heading to Kepmem with cash for two non-notable prospects. Chamloha's only previous mention in this thread was hitting someone in the face with a pitch, but maybe this will be good anyway.November 24: The big amateur free agent domino falls early this year - SP Kes Nokolo has indeed signed with Keleri, as I guessed he might. It's a big guarantee for a first pro contract (6 years, $60.9 million), but he might actually start for this storied team on Opening Day. A one-day shopping spree for Westline, signing five players and committing over $135 million on a single day. The new Liners are:
November 26: Keleri also brings in 1B/2B Mapisiu Kohopa for 8 years, $87.5 million. Kohopa has been playing in tiers 4 and 5 with Pitste BC (Hokrof) but cashes in on his relegation release and manages to multiply his earnings by about 10 in the process. I'm guessing he'll play second base rather than first, because...November 27: Keleri have also signed 1B Ouler Tuemole, formerly of Hokrof BC, for 8 years, $51.2 million. I'm interested to see if the change of scenery will be a plus or minus for Tuemole, who is classed as an "unmotivated" personality.November 29: Muni's first major move upon their EL return is to bring in OF Tae Hefie, formerly of Wichku BC, who would have played against Muni this season. This will be his first time at the EL level - he is an on-base machine who draws tons of walks, and that should play up in the top flight.

December 2022 Transactions
December 2: SP Aro Ipo, one of the league's true aces, signs with the Pasataki Galaxy for 5 years, $38.5 million. This feels like a big bargain for a team that badly needed pitching if they wanted to be a legit title contender. Ipo, who previously starred for Sitache BC, missed the back half of this season with a labrum tear, though, so I suppose that risk factor is accounted for.December 3: No tears for Sitache, at least not now. They bring in 1B Fomo Tirma, who opted out of his contract with Kupore in October, for 5 years, $55 million. Tirma is the most "pure hitter" hitter in the league, in my opinion - a walking batting title who probably won't hit more than 20-25 home runs but is extremely useful.December 5: Former Keleri closer Chysho Sofiulo has signed with Cheshek, 3 years/$12.2 million. The two-time EL saves leader has been pushed out by some other signings. One thing I missed in the later stages of the year - he hit a walk-off grand slam this September against the Eagles, his first career extra-base hit.December 8: Haven't had much Akashemo talk this offseason, but here they sign OF Tseiriki Tushifo to a 4-year, $25MM contract. Tushifo has not played in the EL but hit 67 home runs in the third tier this season.December 9: Another Westline bomb drop - SP Sefti Merefife, the 2021 Pitcher of the Year winner and 5th place finisher this year, has left Tsapna to sign across town. Not as much money as I would have expected either, $90 million over 7 years. Westline clearly feel like it's time for them to make the leap - at the very least, they're winning the offseason.December 15: C Lakiru Shufaho, who started 72 games for Keleri this year, mostly at third base, is moving on to the Shunna Eagles, where he will attempt to take the full reins of an EL pitching staff for the first time.December 17: Semyof re-signs C Takmake Efiyalem for 8 years and $48MM. Efiyalem has a bad clubhouse reputation, but he's a very good defensive catcher.December 20: Kupore has traded starting 2B Mirotiko Nysho to Motech of the Northern Super League, receiving closer Sosuo Lotechosa. Lotechosa is just 19, and had 59 saves for a first-place team in 2022, winning promotion from Western League One. For Kupore, Koraralu Fatsi is expected to move from third to be the everyday second baseman.December 25: Former Pasataki Galaxy shortstop Atsi Keana has signed a 5-year deal to join giants Keleri, earning $56.5 million. Keana had just one injury-plagued season with Pasataki, with three different IL stints and a spate of minor injuries to boot, but he was still extremely productive in the 83 games that he did play, driving in over a hundred runs. He got them in spurts, hitting six grand slams and recording more 8+ RBI games than the rest of the EL combined (3 to 2).December 31: C Tupae Pufosa has left Keleri to sign an 8-year contract with Fampalo for $76.4 million. Pufosa, on a 1-year deal with Keleri, was a full-time starter for the first time in his career in 2022, having been a backup/injury replacement previously with Amnanache, and now he's able to cash that in.

January 2023 Transactions
January 2: Former Semyof SP Tosolefi Loap signs with Cheshek, 6 years/$39 million. He was quite good in Semyof's promotion campaign, finishing 4th in the ERA race, 3rd in strikeouts and only behind his teammate Tusehu Wamia in wins with 23. Despite making a league jump, he could conceivably be Cheshek's Opening Day starter.January 3: Semyof acquires SP Mafuke Yshetsea from the Aroketsil Spirits, for relief pitcher Yipomo Wesiti. Don't love this for the Spirits (with the caveat that there's plenty of offseason left). The rotation has long been a weak point.January 6: An interesting trade - the Spirits trade swingman Like Seafofis to Kupore for LF Selo Sisilu. Seafofis goes right into the Kupore rotation, while Sisilu will replace the departed LF Lia Tsesahem, who has dropped down to tier 3 after a disappointing 2022. Another potential starting pitcher departs the Spirits.January 21: SP Katelo Measi has signed with Meka for 7 years, $24 million. The 24-year-old has exclusively pitched in tier 3 of the pyramid so far in his 8 year career, but is probably a capable back-end starter. Meka might need him for more than that though.January 31: SP Risei Late, who has been carving up tiers 5-7 with the Mokayoron Raiders for the past 9 years, signs with Cheshek for 4 years, $35 million. He only ever made a total of about $2.5 million in all his time in Mokayoron, so this is nice. While he has never pitched for another team professionally, Late does actually have an Elite League championship ring next to his name, from his time as a Mighty Oaks prospect. Not much else happening, with most of the big free agents signed. The best free agent remaining is definitely former Fampalo SS Wyku Tofpalts, the EL's WAR leader in 2021 and 2nd-place MVP finisher. |

February 2023 Transactions
Last month of the offseason, with Opening Day on March 1. Still a bit of business to attend to before then, though: February 3: 3B Taoma Otutsaka signs with Otahel City, 4 years/$16.1MM. Previously played in the EL for Aroketsil Canaries (2016) and Ransu Shockers (2017), with longer stints in the Second League with both teams. 31-year-old who has won the Second League Gold Glove at 3B the last five years in a row.February 4: SP Misote Tsumeratsi signs with Westline, 5 years/$46MM. The Westline revamp continues, though with a delayed start as Tsumeratsi, 33, will not be available until May due to injury suffered with Ransu Shockers last July. Has an EL ring, won with Tsapna in 2012, when he won 23 games. The Ransu native has now played for three of its most historically successful teams.February 5: RF Maho Tsimpese signs with Semyof, 1 year/$2.4 million. A surprisingly small deal for Tsimpese, who I would have thought would be asking for 5 years or longer at just the age of 21. Formerly of Akashemo United, Tsimpese gets on base and has a cannon of an outfield arm. Great value for Semyof.February 9: SP Uriyoko Tselsiko signs with Lutrul, 1 year/$2 million. This magnitude of signing doesn't normally move my needle, but this is the player whose career I've been tracking due to us sharing a date of birth and our left-handedness. Made 23 starts for Westline last year before being shut down due to injury in July (in fact, on our shared birthday). February 13: SS Wyku Tofpalts signs with the Pasataki Galaxy, 8 years/$92 million. That's the biggest domino left to fall, and the location makes perfect sense with the Galaxy having lost a star shortstop of their own this offseason. These guys are going to score a lot - right now, Tofpalts is slated to bat sixth in their lineup, and he nearly won the MVP two years ago. That pretty much covers it, although obviously I skipped over an awful lot of transactions. Anything that actually might have some import will be covered during the season preview, which will start in the next post. |

Going into the season, here are the top 5 rankings per position. I decided to include the names as written in the Lokasi language as well, hopefully some of you find that part interesting.

2023 Season Preview - Part 1
In reverse order of the preseason predictions, let's line up the clubs that will play for the Elite League title in 2023. So, we'll start with those who are expected to be relegated: ![]() SITACHE BC Sitache, CA 2022: 78-112 (17th) Seasons in EL: 15 Best finish: 4th (2018) Payroll: $82.2 million (13th) The EL's northernmost team also find themselves on the north end of this preview. It's only been 3 years since Sitache finished 5th, but most of that team's big contributors are gone, especially on the pitching side. Aro Ipo leaving for Pasataki especially stings - he didn't really get a sendoff due to his injury in June 2022 that cut his season short. #2 starter Mesa Tselsiko also left, going to now-2L club Mithazni. Lineup (12th): 1B Fomo Tirma - CF Tsusenu Shiyetsorisu - 2B Rypa Riali 3B Fumiecho Sahiu - LF Shesho Yutepe - RF Monisho Hefie SS Komake Tanipa - C Chise Koslu I'm slightly guessing here - star CF Rolupi Shekesu is out until May, and they actually only have two outfielders on the roster at the moment. Yutepe should be the starting catcher, but what he really is is the one guy who is capable of sliding into the outfield. Thank goodness Fomo Tirma is here, having been lured in from Kupore in the offseason. Sahiu is the only other player of note, a former two-time RBI champ. Rotation (18th): Eshan Kohopa - Chapeo Mematsa - Rari Asi - Neshofa Koleshaparo - Hecho Nikera Limited upside here, although at least the top three starters are still teenagers & might grow into something. Closer: Filashe Tsarosha (12th) Tsarosha is not bad, but I'd bet that Tsario Nufeka is closing by the end of the season - I just expect him to improve quite a bit. 2023 prediction: 67-123 (20th) As currently constructed, yeah, I do think Sitache are likely to get relegated. But if Shekesu is back soon, and they can find 1-2 really reliable starters out of this group, then survival is on the table. ![]() FAMPALO BC Fampalo, CA 2022: 93-97 (11th) Seasons in EL: 20 Best finish: 3rd (2015) Payroll: $80.3 million (15th) Fampalo BC have been in the EL since 2007, one of only 5 teams that have been in the league for that whole period. They finished in the top 6 in both 2020 and 2021, but slipped last year and lost quite a bit over the offseason. Last year's two top hitters, SS Wyku Tofpalts and RF Santa Chewefa, are gone, so this team that ranked 12th in runs scored last year will struggle to reach that level. Lineup (20th): 1B Rykitopa Tufsu - 2B Sysak Tisoki - C Tupae Pufosa SS Ynyce Elemi - LF Sashem Sofiulo - 3B Feli Tyxite RF Lala Kishawua - CF Tofe Uyeshu Yeah, the cupboard is pretty bare. Pufosa is a good get, coming over from Keleri, but wasn't even a full-time starter until last year, and derives a lot of his value from being a good catcher. Elemi was their other acquisition, in a trade with Mighty Oaks, and was a below average hitter last year while mostly coming off the bench. He's also not really a shortstop anymore, having mostly played 3B and not starting a game at shortstop in three years. Rotation (11th): Kimyu Mekuri - Shutsichei Tinatashale - Wokyo Nuchipasora - Filashe Sikepo - Wyshuo Rainai Fampalo will be quite good on the days that Mekuri pitches, and very beatable the other four games of the series. Tinatashale is a good prospect, but making his pro debut. Rainai could be decent with a full complement of starts. Closer: Nene Asi (9th) A former Second League Pitcher of the Year as a starter, Asi is surprisingly crafty for a modern closer. The bullpen should be improved, with last year's closer Latsor Sofiulo relegated to a 7th-inning role. 2023 prediction: 69-121 (19th) Fampalo will struggle to score at all this year, and the best pitchers in the world can't save you if you don't score. Also, they don't have the best pitchers in the world. ![]() AROKETSIL SPIRITS Aroketsil, KX 2022: 105-85 (6th) Seasons in EL: 15 Best finish: 3rd (2021) Payroll: $81.8 million (14th) I'm quite surprised to see the Spirits this far down, although the offseason moves that they made were questionable. They have finished in the top 7 in each of the top six seasons, and a step back does seem likely from what has been the club's most successful era. Lineup (18th): SS Wasi Tsewayo - LF Selo Sisilu - 1B Peku Karwo 3B Rolana Rekesu - 2B Okitso Womoipo - RF Fapasile Lumafi CF Roshuere Nesapatame - C Feko Kuishuchutso This seems to be the source of OOTP's pessimism compared to what I think will happen. This should be an average-or-better offense this year, as the Spirits scored the 4th-most runs in the EL last year and brought back almost everyone. Only LF Lia Tsesahem moved on from the everyday starters, and Sisilu is a pretty similar player. They are, as you may recall, also returning the top two MVP finishers in Karwo and Rekesu. The bottom of the lineup is quite weak, but the top 5 is the league's best half-a-lineup. Rotation (20th): Loroche Awia - Maho Rirto - Olf Fochaeki - Sefi Roshopufo - Teshuye Sekao This is pretty bad, though. Loroche Awia does not even make the leaguewide top three of "starting pitchers named L. Awia" and he's supposed to be the ace. Roshopufo and Sekao are not really EL caliber, so there could be some long nights. Closer: Yipomo Wesiti (17th) The bullpen is not as much of a dumpster fire as the rotation, but it's also not a strength. Wesiti, acquired in a trade from Semyof, is not miscast as a shutdown reliever with strong strikeout stuff, but he's unproven in that big role. 2023 prediction: 74-116 (18th) I would really, really be surprised if the Spirits were relegated - their offense simply has too many actual great players. But as low as 12th-14th would not be that surprising. ![]() AKASHEMO UNITED Akashemo, RP 2022: 91-99 (12th) Seasons in EL: 20 Best finish: 7th (2014) Payroll: $87.0 million (12th) With between 91-93 wins each of the last three years, Akashemo are starting to feel like mid-table fixtures. Their top two hitters have moved on, though (catcher Kiposo Hatsalicho and RF Maho Tsimpese). For Rupakare's sake, I hope they have a place in this league for as long as possible, it's easy to root for the islander teams. Lineup (15th): RF Puta Faseltsa - 2B Kypo Oifi - LF Tseiriki Tushifo C Kawachu Tan - 1B Takipuse Chyshane - 2B Shati Ushineye SS Chosyshire Pochayi - CF Hypuse Toyerno Tushifo and Chyshane are the replacement players for the two mentioned above, with Kawachu Tan moving from 1st back to his natural position behind the dish. Tushifo tore up the 3rd tier last year, but is unproven at this level; Chyshane was a bench player for Tsapna who is only getting his first crack at an everyday EL lineup aged 25. Rotation (13th): Tsarase Roshoshe - Moshiwa Satyre - Lumekatse Merefife - Tsol Chanesha - Mesopi Salama A mixed bag. Roshoshe is great, and Satyre would pitch for most of the top-half teams, but Chanesha and Salama are effectively warm bodies out there. Closer: Chitipa Fyhy (4th) One of the game's top relievers; the bullpen overall is a pretty strong unit. 2023 prediction: 76-114 (17th) The loss of Hatsalicho probably means Akashemo will take a slight dip in 2023 - whether that means relegation is going to be up in the air. ![]() OTAHEL CITY Otahel, FH 2022: 78-112 (16th) Seasons in EL: 3 Best finish: 16th (2022) Payroll: $64.9 million (19th) Otahel City survived an EL season for the first time in club history in 2022, in their second attempt. This is also the first team on the list that looks better than they were last year. Lineup (17th): SS Sashe Pipasu - RF Kiposo Posheni - 3B Taoma Otukatsa 1B Riroi Toyerno - C Kiowu Salama - CF Toyeseshi Shocheye LF Chitipa Petosa - 2B Hekewi Faseltsa Last year's lineup was 15th in run-scoring, and this looks a bit better. Salama and Shocheye did most of the heavy lifting in 2022, and Otukatsa/Toyerno should help to cover that. The top-end talent isn't really there, but the depth of the lineup is improved by a good bit. Rotation (16th): Hiatoa Neyopet - Yatil Mesha - Lasha Chuotsa - Elpim Merefife - Roshana Chileros Probably actually the weakest unit, though again through lack of star power rather than lack of depth. Otahel are starting the year with three more starters on the IL, but all about the same quality as these guys. That is to say, none of their starting pitchers are great but there sure are a lot of them. Closer: Turoa Roshirmi (10th) The bullpen is the strongest of these three units, probably, though not as good as Akashemo's. Average to above across the board. Roshirmi doesn't strike out nearly as many batters as you would expect of someone with his skillset, I'll have to look into what's up with that. 2023 prediction: 80-110 (16th) Otahel's ceiling is lower than some of the other teams in the bottom half, but their floor is higher. Pretty good chance for this prediction to be right on the money. Last edited by Ruwisc; 02-01-2026 at 11:19 PM. |
