Advice on getting started with PT

I’m a long time OOTP player, but never seriously got into Perfect Team. Going to use the next month or so to tinker around in 26 to try to get a feel for the game and be ready when 27 comes out.

I have a feeling there are some distinct differences from playing regular OOTP that I’m missing. For example, I see a card with a bunch of ratings over 100, but then the card overall is 77, I just don’t see how it adds up. Also have no idea how variant cards work, but I get the idea you need those to win in the capped tournaments.

What would you recommend a new player work on for the last month of the game? I’m hoping to get some good practice in on tournaments and drafts.

Also, are there any resources out there that explain how the cards work and maybe some roster building strategies for tournaments?

i would recommend joining the discord, you will get far better feedback there. additionally, there are videos that both me and laptophound have, mine are a little more competitively focused.

just try and figure out how the game mechanics work so you can get ready the beginning of next cycle well.

Also be aware

That an opening day historical card that has an OVR of 100 will end up being worse than many historical gold and even silver cards by this time next year.

And the live cards are re-rated every month or so, there is an opportunity to speculate on cards and earn PP's. Cards are usually rerated on the first Monday of the month, except for September (delayed a week because of Labor Day in the US) and the end of the year, when it's usually a week or two after the end of the season.

Decide on a rational method of evaluating cards and employ it. It doesn't have to be perfect, and you can change it down the road, but it's always better to be building logical teams.

Strategy?

What's the best way to get up to speed for someone new to Perfect Team?
