Pittsburgh Pirates: 2026 Season

The question is simple: Will the Pirates actually be a good ballclub, or will we continue to do absolutely nothing?

Well, if the offseason is any indicator, we may have a decent roster on our hands. Don't know if it'll be enough to make the playoffs, but I hope it will be.

Here are the major changes heading into 2026:
- Pirates trade Johan Oviedo and change for Jhostynxon Garcia and pitching prospect Jesus Travieso.
- Reliever Gregory Soto heads to Pittsburgh for 7.75 million.
- Pirates acquire Brandon Lowe as part of a three-team deal. Also acquired outfielder Jake Mangum and left-hander Mason Montgomery.
- Ryan O'Hearn signs for the Pirates, 2 years and 29 million.
- We traded for Marcell Ozuna
- We offered Schwarber 100 million dollars

I probably missed something major, but that's the bulk of our transactions heading into spring training.

Nonetheless, let's do our best to enjoy another year of Pirates baseball.

Well i hope so.
I'm not a Pittsburgh fan but i think its about time they made it to the series again.
Maybe they can do it for Maz.

I'd have to say Spring Training has begun rather well for the Buccos. We are currently 6-2.

Konnor Griffin has been a big part of that. Unfortunately he likely won't be on the Opening Day roster which means the success likely won't continue, but the future looks great.

They're going to wait until the momentum is already lost to move him up, I guess

I'm strangely more upset we got rid of Suwinski. If the Pirates were able to develop good batters, I'm sure he would've been an amazing player. Worst part is he's now on the Dodgers.

In the end, the Pirates finished 17-13 during Spring Training. Good enough for 4th best in the Grapefruit League, only behind the Yankees, Cardinals, and Braves.

That first inning yesterday was awful yesterday, wasn't it? I couldn't watch it unfortunately.

Kind of impressive that it was so bad iit pushed his career ERA up 2.10. He'll need 23 consecutive scoreless innings to get his ERA down to where it was last year.

Skenes has arbitration coming up after this year, correct? How soon before he hits LA or NY?

I'll be honest, I'll hate it when he leaves the division since that means I'll get to see him pitch less often.

Yeah, I’m hoping he’ll stay here, but I have to doubt it’ll happen

I actually went to the second game against the Mets. Of course, as I expected to some degree, we lost.

The funny part is that THIS game was the pitcher's duel and the game Skenes was pitching turned into a slugfest. I suppose that's just baseball for you.

That 2028 Dodgers rotation of Yamamoto, Ohtani, Skenes, & Skubal will be tough.
