2026 NFL Off-season thread

Let's start this off with some good old fashioned police news. Falcons rookie LB, James Pearce Jr, arrested after deliberately crashing his Lambo into police & his estranged g/f, WNBA player Rikea Jackson.

His arrest

I don't get how this man got a $25,000 bond. From what I understand (none of this is official), after his g/f blocked his number, he contacted her again from a different number in San Diego. He evidently then flew cross country to Miami to stalk her. Tried to pull her out of the car in the middle of the street in broad daylight. Chased her down & willingly crashed his expensive sports car (ya'll know how we brothers feel about the ride) into her multiple times. Then drove away in a car chase, apparently w/guns drawn on him. Hit a cop in his knee w/the car. Then needed multiple officers to subdue him.

Just from the fact he made an ocean to ocean flight & his temper never waned, it tells you he is super dangerous, super violent, and a super risk to the public. $25,000 is just inviting him to strike again.

He just signed his rookie deal and already has a Lambo? He'll be one of the 80% that are broke a few years after retirement.

He's lucky he's still alive. Using your vehicle against the police is one of the quickest ways to meet your maker.

I think his career is kaput.

All of that and the cops didn't just murder him? That's the biggest surprise for me.

But yeah, career over.

When he struck the cop when he drove off, he was very fortunate. That is telling the officers "you may fire when ready". It wouldn't be justified after they got him out of the vehicle cause he no longer had a weapon.

As it is, he came into the NFL w/a rep for uncontrolled anger. Now that it has shown up like this, IDK how any NFL team could justify keeping him employed. Best case scenario for him is they give him probation (should be jail...years), he gets drowned w/therapy, he joins the UFL, and rehabilitates his rep. Then Jerry Jones is still alive in 2030 and signs him.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. When you're a first round pick with double digit sacks in your rookie season, sometimes an apology is all that is needed.

He's charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and one count of aggravated stalking, among other charges.

Besides his legal battle and the fines he'll get, the league will suspend him. Do people not consider consequences before doing something stupid?

Sadly you're right. That is why I came up w/the Jerry Jones scenario.

As for your final question, I don't think he has the ability. Again reports are his rage caused him to book a 5hr non stop flight. And thru that entire trip common sense never broke thru. This is why I think NFL front offices will stay clear of him. He has proven to lack the ability to function among civilization.

Win the championship and sell the team? That has to be a first.

Didn't the Celtics do the same? I know it was close.

They & Cincy showed this week why their franchises never accomplish anything. Cause they have bad front offices. Unless Murray was a locker room cancer, there is no way letting him go for nothing helps the franchise. And Cincinnati let the Hendrickson contract situation linger all season. Could have traded him to a number of teams for draft picks. And now are letting him go for nothing.

Hendrickson might end up on the Cowboys. Jerry needs to sell more jerseys. If they do get him, it's not with the intention of winning a SB.

You're spot on with poor management in Cinci and Arizona. I don't know what Arizona is doing/thinking. But it's pretty obvious in Cincinnati.

Any team can manipulate the cap and stack their team like the '78 Steelers. The only thing that matters is cap hit for the current year. Which can be manipulated the next year as well. The issue isn't the cap, it's real dollars. How much money are you willing to guarantee. Cinci, like many other teams, are willing to pay a few, and skimp on the rest.

What's the point of paying a couple of WRs and the QB and ignore the defense? Then you have all of these people thinking it's a cap restraint. No, it isn't. It's an owners restraint.

Since Green Bay is about to lose Willis then maybe they can get Murray as the backup QB, which I would totally be cool with.

Too expensive. I expect the Jets and Vikes to go for him hard. I'm surprised I haven't heard more Steeler rumors.

Could be a worthy expense considering Love misses games every year.
