3000 Hits

Figure I'm better off asking this in the Historical Forum. Would love to hear your thoughts. Do you think 3000 hits earns a player an automatic induction into the Hall of Fame? I've always felt it should. I'm starting to notice more and more that it's not always a sure thing when it comes to OOTP.

I've done that myself for at least one 3000 hit guy so far. Haven't seen the game leave a 500 home run guy out.

No doubt OOTP is a hard marker for HoF inclusion. I don't mind that at all. The real HoF has been inundated with unworthy players, to its great detriment.

3000 Hits certainly gets you a good portion of the way there in my book, but not over the line of its own accord. I want some peripheral corroboration to get it done. A bit of pop, a decent slash line, passable defence.

I'd rather too few than too many, any day.

Since there aren't steroid controversies in OOTP: sure. 3,000 Hits, 500 Home Runs, 300 Wins should be automatic qualifiers.

I the real world sure for hits and wins.....not so sure on HRs. Who is getting in ahead of 3k hitters? Does OOTPB have option that you get a vote? Does it track HOF voting overtime : )) Are they still eligible or have they falling off the list?
