Liga PR-RD and Liga Libertadores
I can't stop making this project bigger - I started on minor league teams, and also figured that could turn into two (um, or three) more early 20th century precursor leagues.
This league would arise second after the Cuban League, say, five or ten years later, and then their champions and the Cuban champions could work out a Series - informal at first, then evolving into the first Caribbean Championship Series All of the teams aren't done for this one yet RD Division Santiago de los Caballeros Caballeros Santo Domingo Estrellas Samana Fletchas San Pedro de Macoris Porvenir/Poetas [Second SD team] [La Romana team] PR Division San Juan Coquis Bayamon Conejitos Ponce Bomberos [Mayaguez] [Caguas] Guayama Brujas but I do have the league logos

Liga Libertadores
aka the Gran Liga after Gran Colombia
This league would then start a few years after that. These all have future versions, except Santa Marta which I just made today - the idea there is a 19th century military name (the city is associated with Bolivar who died there), and then later it doubles as the name of a local bird. notes: Sabios is named after a real team I previously made a Maracaibo Relampagos/Catatumbos team, but I think Zulia Rayos is a much better name (also basically the name of several soccer teams that have played there) Tigrillos and Moros - I have read about every baseball league in the region during this project. Many of them have teams with indigenous branding (as Cleveland Boston etc did in this period). For example, Mayaguez, Managua, two in Venezuela. This is a much more complex topic in former Spanish colonial areas than it is in the United States and I am definitely not qualified to talk about it. For plausibility it would be correct to have a team named Indios, especially for example in a city named Cartagena de Indias, but I didn't want to make one. Tigrillos is my compromise. You can see how easily the T in that monogram could become a I. Moros - my attempt to make a relatively non-pc historical identity. I figured an early baseball team might take on this identity in an "approving, tribute" well-meaning type way. They use Ottoman symbolism, and will be rebranded. basically based on Indios de Boer (see above) and the London rugby team Saracens, among others. Anyway don't worry I drew a vulture for their rebrand! Also every baseball league in the world has a tigers team, but I prefer local animals, hence the tigrillo. The giants will start out generic and then become named for a local animal Santa Marta - the Santa Marta SM logo is based on a US monogram made by user flyinglamprey on the sportslogos board. it uses the colors from the Santa Marta flag Last edited by 20_range; 04-15-2026 at 11:22 PM. |

Fletchas de Samana
This one is a tribute to Fernando Rodney, who is from Samana, DR. My previous attempt at it from 2023 and explanation. Turned out that Rodney's arrow celebration is related to his home town. The arrows on the city crest commemorate arrows that were fired at Christopher Columbus.
I'm making letters now - a lot of the logos in this project are letters that I made. This s is made using the spiral function in inkscape. |

La Guaira Marineros
This one is just based on the LA Dodgers monogram. Probably this is the simplest/quickest logo I have made for this project. I made the letters.
(ended up with a few American major league team names in this project. Some are for fun reasons but this one is just because it's plausible.) This could be an independent team in a Venezualan or South American league, or a minor league team for Caracas. small logo in white (invisible on this board but uploaded to the right) |

Jardineros de Maracay
I don't speak Spanish but here is what I hope is a pun in Spanish, Maracay is the garden city " Otros nombres: Ciudad Jardín[1] "
And Jardineros is Spanish for outfielders as well as gardeners. Been wanting to make a team with this name for a while. I started with a blackletter J but then I made it into an outfielder the white blackletter j without the hat and glove is to the right Last edited by 20_range; 04-15-2026 at 09:19 PM. |

Caguas Caimanes
I wanted something like the Yankees, because the real Caguas team is the most successful in Puerto Rican baseball, with the years of all the titles on the logo. Very 27 rings. I stared at the logo, turned the top of the Y sideways, and made it a mouth. As a C now, it's also reminiscent of Cleveland's 70s hat logo

Liga Central
Once I'd decided on major league teams in Panama and Nicaragua, and then decided on precursor early 20th century leagues (and making at least one local minor league team for each of the 16 teams in the main league)... well then I just had to make an early 20th century league in Panama and Nicaragua!
Travel in this league sounds like it might be insane: "Three years later, the Nicaraguan national squad made an epic four-day journey by train, ferry (which caught fire and sank), and horseback through Costa Rica to Panama for the 1938 edition of the Central American Games. As Nicaraguan baseball historian Bayardo Cuadra told George Gmelch, the mini-odyssey formed a long-lasting esprit de corps.9" - -- sabr biography of Bluefields baseball legend Stanley Cayasso maybe the league plays like Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with four days off for travel? A lot of these places would have only been accessible by boat until recently. The logo is updated from a request I got for a early 20th century Nicaraguan league. The Canal Zone Pilots become the Panama City Pilots (maybe they merge with the Cutters team), with the team in David as their minor league team. And the Managua team would in the future use Leon or Bluefields as their minor league affiliate. Or the league could expand to Honduras and Costa Rica. Panama City Cutters
This team is really named after Mariano Rivera's cutter, but it also fits with the Culebra Cut, and the "cutting off" of Panama from Colombia.
Mariano Rivera's post-retirement career is a good reminder to play ootp only fictional. You can't trust real life players not to become terrible. I loved himlogo based on Brooklyn Dodgers (wanted something simple) with the little cut outs corresponding to the NW --> SE direction of the canal colors are, well, colors are not my specialty Last edited by 20_range; 05-04-2026 at 10:29 AM. |

Canal Zone Gunboats
Ok I drew the ship they used for the gunboat diplomacy that led to the American colonial project in Panama. Don't know why I did this to myself

Viajeros de David
David, Panama.
Stadium: Casa de David Based on: House of David I made the letters! Basically based on this logo the baseball has the stars from the flag of Chiriqui Province, also the colors are derived from that Travelers or Voyagers, and they'd have to be, one of the more remote locations in this or any league. |

Leon Elegidos
The Chosen or chosen ones, this is just a pun on the Dominican team Leones del Escogido, whose logo I've always wanted to use, I love it. Colors from seal of Leon.

Bluefields Pirates
Something just fascinates me about Bluefields and the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua (I have no ancestry anywhere near there). My first attempts at this exist on this message board from 2022 and 2023, and Bluefields was always on my list for this project.
It was one of the last ones I finished, I made this today, I had the simplest possible idea, so simple that I assume that there is somewhere obvious and well-known that has done it before. |

Liga PR RD
Posting the extra team identities I have as they are, when I get to this era when actually playing this league I'll probably expand on these and add to them. Most of these teams have already been posted in this and the other thread.

Santo Domingo Metropolitanos
I wanted a "Mets" team since I made a SD "Yankees" team, and, well..
These letters are modified by me from the Poblano font. I altered the serifs to make them look more like the Dominican cross from the coat of arms of Santo Domingo. There's two SD monograms because the tighter one is too hard to read in monocolor (teams that have been around forever also should have more than one monogram) |

Bayamon Conejitos
This team exists in the early 20th century, and is inspired by the Cedar Rapids Bunnies
It is actually named because Bayamon is the birthplace of Bad Bunny I would like to improve this logo, and to do a modern one, I just haven't yet. Last edited by 20_range; 05-11-2026 at 09:10 PM. |
