At Cap’s suggestion I emailed Andreas Raht about the licences no longer working on TBCB 2.5 and here is the reply I got from OOTP support:
“ Hello Rob, Unfortunately, eLicense shut down their licensing servers. This will result in errors when the game is trying to activate your license key. Currently, there is no solution and no plans to work on DRM free versions of those games, as they are too old. Sorry for the inconvenience” |

TB is old but it's also unique. There's no other boxing sim like it. Cap

it was a great run. Wished TBCB 3 got going but oh well. Its not a perfect replacement but I found something to offset this.

If no one can purchase a copy of Title Bout 2.5 any more that pretty much puts the final nail in the coffin for the game. Probably means this forum will go the same way sooner or later. Too bad. Twenty years or more is a long life for one franchise that hasn't really changed in more than a decade. Just imagine how long OOTP Baseball would be around if it never upgraded every year...
I retired a while back and TB has been one of my favourite pastimes. No other boxing game comes close. I can't understand why some company couldn't keep it going and still make a profit. Title Bout is unique, especially if you love the history of the sport. All the other boxing games are just button mashers with pretty graphics and no guts. Cap

I’ve also emailed Paul to see if he is still selling TBCB 2013 and if he uses e-licence. His website still lists it for sale and if he uses e-licence then he should not be selling it.

Some time ago I sent him a message via his website, but he never answered.

Paul should make a free DRM version of TBCB 2013. I know a lot of you guys hate that version compared to 2.5 but it would be better than nothing

I fear that the couple of boxing sims I've heard are in the pipeline will not come out until I'm long dead, or will simply not measure up to what TBCB 2.5 gives us.

well kinda true looking at two settled on one its not perfect (no tourneys only 101215 rounds) bases more on rankings once I get my cornermen set up i can start diving into it. The other I have bene looking at can do a variety of things (tourneys regional play 3-15 rounds career mode but down sode does not appear to allow rfgs into the game and fighters are VERY limited even after paying

I used to long for a "career mode" for TBCB, but over the years my enthusiasm for any kind of "career mode" has evaporated. With a little bit of imagination (something I dare say many young people are not willing to use these days), TBCB 2.5 already does just about everything an elderly boxing enthusiast could want. If only it could track injuries and stoppages and impose medical suspensions (the way GD's World of Mixed Martial Arts does), and if only there were a few tweaks to the way you can sort and group fighters, it would be perfect. At least for me. Heck, I even enjoy the in-fight graphics of this game. Last night I was running a card to decide the Caribbean championship in my fictional LW division, and one fighter developed a bad cut over his left eye. At the end of each round I kept hoping hiis cutman would be able to stop the bleeding. I actually breathed a sigh of relief when the red patch on his face turned orange at the beginning of each next round.

I never cared about a career mode because like you said with a little imagination you can essentially have a career mode in TBCB. What I love about TBCB, besides the real fighters that were already created in the game, is that you can create essentially an unlimited amount of fighters, whether that be random fighters or fighters who started their careers after the game was introduced

I also wish our little boxing sim had an easier way to create a universe.
I found a CD to which I had copied a historical HW universe some years ago. Trouble is, I can't remember how I did it or how to continue it. For some reason my start year was 1946. I apparently created a number of fictional TCs, but can't remember how to import real fighters for 1947 on.

antonin at leats they have fast play method to blast through it but like you mentioned about RFG's i have over 25k REAL fighters in TBCB and there is NO WAY I can import that into the new game I have. Currently i am just working on the contenders on up that is around 230 range I think (i still have a license issue going on with that which prompted me to make the switch). The other game you can set something like 10 bouts at the same time but again very limited fighters.

and granted creating creating a universe is a challenge in any game but a "master copy" works wonders here

Here's a thought. I know nothing about AI (alien intelligence) but I'm wondering how difficult it would be for someone who understands it to ask it to code a programme similar to Title Bout 2.5 using the premise of the game as background information...
Whoever created the game, let's call it "Fight Game", could then offer it for sale at a minimal cost to fellow boxing enthusiasts. Just a thought..... ![]() ![]() Cap
