Mets win! Mets win! Praise be! Ring the bells! Mets win!
Oh yes, and in the same game Soto came back from his calf injury, Lindor exited with a calf injury of his own. That's how you know you're cursed and that you have to accept the 74-88 season coming at you.

I hope this doesn't come off as trolling. I personally like when owners spend money. Steve Cohen has obviously done that. Is this an example though of a situation where you just can't throw money at the problem? What is going on with that clubhouse? Is it a Lindor thing? Soto? Both?

It's a team where almost everybody plays out of position for some reason. Lindor is the shortstop, so all the other shortstops that they signed must go elsewhere and Bo Bichette at third has been *rough*.
There's no real first baseman. Pete got dumped, so it is Soup of the Day between a variety of misfits, including Jorge Polanco (not a first baseman), Brett Baty (no XP), Mark Vientos (horrible), and Jared Young (not much of anything). Robert jr. in center is something between casual and careless, also brittle, so every four days he must be on the bench. They even moved Soto from right to left for some stupid reason, so now Baty is moonlighting in rightfield, with ghastly results. Carson Benge was said to have a great arm, so he must play ... left. It's beyond brainless. They then take that defensive decrepitude to the plate with them. Then have Benge, hitting .136, bat leadoff. No, he doesn't walk. The only surprise is that he's not been dumped to Syracuse yet. To solve ALL problems, they now brought back the 38-year-old corpse of Tommy Pham. So far he's 0-for-11. The team costs about $325M and scores about 3.25 runs per game. The entire front office should be fired, and then rehired, just so they can fire them again. Then maybe have a public flogging. I don't know. I can't make my Raccoons score either. But maybe don't sign a full team of shortstops and expect that it will somehow magically work out. Because it ******* doesn't. The pitching is... *fair*. Senga and Peterson can't get anybody out. Nobody expected Senga to get anybody out anymore, though. And so far Clay Holmes starting has been the least of our problems.

Yes...he had 11 PA's where he led off...but that little experiment went bye-bye, in a hurry. 58 of his 73 PA's, (80%) for the season, have him hitting 7th through 9th. The other four were him hitting 6th. So...11 of 71 were him hitting 1st through 5th. |

The Mets got swept by the Rockies.
At home. Pitching allowed only ten runs in three games. They scored FOUR. FOUR. Enough. Fire the ENTIRE ******* FRONT OFFICE AND MANAGEMENT. And the front office ESPECIALLY. Fire everybody from David Stearns on down and stop short only when you reach the lovely Lithuanian cleaning lady and the interns. Hell, let the interns run the ******* place!! And the Lithuanian cleaning lady, too!! Fire especially the genius that brought back 38-year-old Tommy Pham, who hit ZERO, and is now going after Austin Slater, who was too **** even for the ******* Marlins...!! Four games behind the Marlins, by the way. And (tied for) the worst record in the ******* league. Fire everybody!! Only the lovely Lithuanian cleaning lady, the interns, Mr. and Mrs. Met, GKR, Steve, and Dave can stay!

What went wrong in our childhoods that we ended up saddled with such loser rooting interests?

Mets sweep the Fish by a total of 25-9 runs this weekend.
Last weekend, the Fish swept the Mets by a total of 10-2 runs. I'll remember that Soto Slam for a while. I liked that.

Sorry Mets fans...my Cardinals just aren't that good. I feel your pain. That's a LOT of underperforming mega millionaires.

Jordan Walker may not be a mega-millionaire today…but Mets "pitching" is certainly helping him earn some nice paydays in the future.

Five innings into the Mets-Phillies game from last night, and my resolve to watch all games to conclusion, no matter how bad it gets, is being seriously tested.
- Fox - Mets down by a dozen - Harper already has a cycle - Schwarber already has 910-some feet worth of homers - Vientos hit one of those meaningless homers that will make it look like he does something other than suck the air out of the ballpark - Smoltz being entirely too happy about the score - Did I mention FOX??? (sigh!)

September 8, 1962: Mets infield of Marv Throneberry, Rod Kanehl, Charlie Neal, and Felix Mantilla all make an error in the same game.
June 24, 2026: Mets infield of Mark Vientos, Marcus Semien, Francisco Lindor, and Bo Bichette all make an error in the same game. Add to that Dansby Swanson setting a new record for RBI's against the Mets in a single series, while batting NINTH, and with A GAME TO SPARE. Then there was that delightful graphic at the start of this game that the Mets' starters' ERA in the last X games was *10.59* - well, Sean Diarrhaea at least got that one down with his stellar performance of three-plus innings for three ******* runs. The crowd at the game is passionately booing, and I approve. Burn that **** down.
