Schedule request - 36 teams 2S/3D/6T 162 games

Hello,

I am pretty sure this schedule is logistically possible, but I have no idea how to go about making it. If anyone could please help I would greatly appreciate it.

3 game series only, with off days for the entire league every Monday. No interleague, 18 games vs each team in division (9H/9A), 6 games vs each other team in league (3H/3A). 4 day all star break (including Monday) right around the middle of the season. I would like the season to end in early October. Since this would be a 27.5 week season including the all star break, I think this means the season would have to start at the end of March. I would also like for teams to have equal or roughly equal numbers of home/away weekend series.

The way I was planning on making this schedule was to have every home stand and road trip be 3 series, 9 games. With the season starting on a Friday Saturday Sunday series, and the all star break taking place on a Tuesday Wednesday Thursday exactly midway through the season, this results in 14 home and 14 away weekend series. I was also planning on structuring road trips and home stands in such a way that all 3 series are against teams from one division to minimize travel. I don't know how to make a schedule to know if this is actually possible, so if this has to be tweaked that is okay.

Thank you again to anyone who can help with this.

This schedule may work for you. I don't know if the weekdays will be right but the actual balance of games is correct

This part is impossible, just so you know. Imagine two teams that both open the season at home. If all homestands and roadtrips are the same length, then these two teams can never play against each other because they're always either both at home or both away.

Got it, yeah that makes sense when you put it that way. Thank you!

For something new that otherwise fits the parameters except for the homestands/roadtrips, which way would you rather go...

Typically I would spread things out for the division and interdivision game and make so the longest homestands/roadtrips are 4 series. Try to make mostly 2-3, but going to have numerous single and some 4.

If you are attached to the idea of having indivision games in sets of three straight series all home or away, that would be doable too. It would mean some long homestands/roadtrips though. I think the max would have to go to 6 series in a row -- 5 does not feel realistic, and hopefully it could be kept under 7.
