We lost 6-7 to Chicago, thereby ending our chances for a sweep. Still, 2-1 over the Cubs isn't too bad I suppose.

We absolutely SMOKED the Nats yesterday, 16-5 victory for the Buccos. Both Lowe and Horwitz hit home runs in that game. Not only that, but Lowe also brought in 5 RBIs that day.

Exceptional game.

If this team can stay together they have a bright future. They're still mostly young, right? And even though we lost last time, I enjoy watching Skenes pitch. I was low-key hoping he'd get a perfect game or at least a no-hitter on Friday night.

It all really depends on if Skenes will stay as a Pirate in my opinion. If he doesn't then the rotation doesn't look nearly as good.

Also, Ozuna has been absolutely horrendous so far. McCutchen hasn't been too good this year either, but he definitely would've been at least slightly better as a DH than Ozuna so far this year and people obviously love him in Pittsburgh.

Currently last in an admittedly very competitive NL Central... feels bad man.

Now that I think about it more, even if they don't extend him (which may not happen considering they've extended everyone other big-name player, including Konnor Griffin who just debuted not even a month ago), my hope is they'll put whatever money they had for his extension to good use in free agency or development.

Hopefully by that point we'll be in a better shape to actually compete

If they pay Skenes his market value, then they have 24 rookies and AA players around him.

This is probably true. Plus, we have some really good pitchers in the minor leagues, so it hopefully won't be too bad once those players get up to the major league level.

Also, a pattern i've noticed with the Pirates is that ever since the new millennium we've only been good when the rest of the division is as well. Then again, we haven't been good for that many seasons since 2000, so at some point the levee will break I'd guess.
