BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 August 2319

The August 1 Super Post

CBO Top Performances

Hitter - Needham Tickler's Opening Day performance is no longer #1. That distinction now belongs to the July 3 performance by Southie's Clean Blake Dean in the Brews' 17-3 shellacking of Vault 81. Dean was 5 for 5 with a double, two home runs, five runs scored, and eight RBI, earning him a game score of 141. His five runs scored tied the SCA record, which interestingly was also tied by FHE's Phil Brodie the day before.

Pitcher - Well, here is a rarity. Five pitchers earned a game score of 85, all tied for the best performance in July. The accomplishment in order with base stats:
July 3 - Leyden Aigg, Concord - 8.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 11 K
July 8 - Mister Burns, Nordhagen Beach - 8.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 8 K
July 14 - Macho Lopez, Diamond City - 8.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 9 K
July 25 - Scooter Yaghmour, Cambridge - 9.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 4 K
July 31 - Kevin Gauzeman, Concord - 8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 12 K

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Johnboy Zikmund, the Sunshine Tidings second baseman, certainly made a name for himself this past month. He banged out a .354 batting average with 29 hits, 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 24 times.

That kind of hitting earned him the North Charles Association Batter of the Month honors for July.

Thus far this year, Zikmund has hit .316 with 23 home runs and 76 RBIs.

SCA Hitter - Enigma Montgomery battered South Charles Association pitchers all July and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Montgomery told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 23 games, Montgomery hit .369 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 26 runs.

For the year, Montgomery is hitting .329 with 16 home runs. His stats include 53 runs batted in and 94 runs scored.

NCA Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month Award in July has been selected and the North Charles Association honor went to Starlight hurler, Mercury Morris. For his excellent performance he has been named the league's top pitcher.

During the month, Morris was superb with a 1.64 ERA and 5 wins and 1 loss. In 44 innings he struck out 41 and gave up 31 hits and 4 walks.

So far this season, Morris has a record of 12-7 with 140 strikeouts and 25 walks in 189.1 innings and a 3.28 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - A standout performance in July earned Meribrand Docybuck the Pitcher of the Month Award in the South Charles Association. When his name was penciled in to start by the Spectacle Island skipper, it meant trouble for opposing teams. For the month the Reapers star racked up 5 wins and no losses.

In 44 innings of work, Docybuck limited opposing batters to 33 base hits and a .209 batting average. He notched 36 strikeouts, issued 12 walks and had a 2.25 ERA.

This year, Docybuck has made 26 starts, thrown 169.1 innings, fanned 158 batters and walked 48. His won-lost record is 13-7 with a 3.88 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Marl Moriarty earned July's Rookie of the Month honors in the North Charles Association for last month's performance. The boyish Bunker Hill first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Moriarty hit .311 with 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 23 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Moriarty is currently hitting at a .323 pace with 17 home runs and 48 RBIs. He has played in 69 games and scored 55 times.

SCA Rookie - When it came to hitting the baseball, Bix Bimbleman had few peers in the South Charles Association last month. The gifted right fielder for Roxbury tagged opposing pitchers for a .364 average and was voted the Rookie of the Month for July.

Included in his stats were 32 hits, 4 homers, 17 runs scored and 14 RBIs.

This year, Bimbleman has collected a .350 batting average to date with 126 hits in 360 at-bats, 61 RBIs, 17 home runs and scored 62 times. He has played in 97 games.

NEBL Analysis

There are only five more games in the NEBL regular season. Only one division, the Old Glory, has been wrapped up. Another could be as early as tomorrow night. In the PL Stars, Brockton is that team with a chance to end the division race early, currently up three games on the Manchester Mammoths. In the PL Stripes, three teams are still alive, with the Fairfield Greasers possessing a two-game lead over Greenwich and a three-game lead over New Haven. The Lowell Sentry Bots have clinched the YL Old Glory and the top record in the Yankee League. In the YL USA, Hamden has a one-game lead over the Bridgeport Gulchers.

NEBL Players of the Month

PL Hitter - When Jokie Josey stepped up to the plate in July he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Patriot League Batter of the Month award.

The young Newton center fielder posted a .388 batting average with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and scored 22 runs. Josey also worked pitchers for 6 walks to post a .434 on-base percentage.

So far this season, Josey is batting .417 with 10 home runs.

YL Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to New England Baseball League, Sawmill Sarabia put up some good numbers in July and earned the YL Batter of the Month award.

He was one of Hamden's offensive leaders with a .371 average in 28 games. He also racked up 8 home runs, 19 RBIs, and 25 runs scored.

So far on the season, Sarabia is hitting .333 with 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has 46 hits and played in 66 games.

PL Pitcher - In July, Bunter Mayberry tore through the Patriot League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 23 years old.

The young New Haven starter posted a 4-1 mark and an ERA of 1.57 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 40 innings he collected 25 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .217 average.

To date this year, Mayberry shows a 5-3 record, 14 starts, 85 innings, 70 strikeouts and a 2.12 ERA.

YL Pitcher - Francisco Araiza really put his best foot forward in July with 5 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the Yankee League. When he got the start for the Hamden Lifegivers, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition.

In 34.1 innings of work, Araiza limited opposing batters to 29 base hits and a .234 batting average. He notched 30 strikeouts, issued 11 walks and had a 1.57 ERA.

To date this year, Araiza has compiled a 8-1 mark with a 2.66 ERA in 18 starts.

MML Analysis

Like the NEBL, the MML is down to its last five games per team. Unlike the MML, only one division is not decided, but that could happen today. teams clinching division championships are the Everett Mutant Hounds in the LL Boggs, the Brookline bandoliers in the LL Murtagh, and the Middletown Sextants in the SL Yastrzemski. In the SL Williams, the East providence Townies have a four-game lead over the Attleboro Mongrels.

MML Players of the Month

LL Hitter - Aaron Annis of the Methuen Spy Hunters has won the Legends League Batter of the Month award, and it's no surprise.

It was difficult to keep the 27-year-old off the bases in July, as he batted .350, hit 6 home runs, drove in 16 runs, scored 18 times and compiled a .419 on-base percentage.

Annis on the season is batting .318 with 20 home runs. His totals include 60 RBIs and 54 runs scored. He has played in 90 games.

SL Hitter - Saint Orleans used that sweet swing with great success for Milford last month, garnering him the Stars League Batter of the Month award.

The 27-year-old right fielder put up a .341 batting average and collected 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

This year, Orleans has hit at a .286 clip with 75 hits, 16 home runs, 42 RBIs and 49 runs scored.

LL Pitcher - When Cuff Collins takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Waltham victory. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 4-1 mark and a 1.37 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 39.1 innings, fanned 30, and held enemy hitters to a .227 average.

That's why the Wanderers star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Legends League.

Collins has gone 6-2 this season with an ERA of 2.49 and 68 strikeouts in 90.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .263 against him.

SL Pitcher - It was a sensational July for Fergus Parker as he mystified, mesmerized and terrorized opposing batters to capture the Stars League Pitcher of the Month trophy.

Parker locked down a 4-0 mark in 6 starts last month, striking out 35 while walking 9 in 40.1 innings and posting a 2.68 ERA.

On the year, Parker has compiled a 7-2 mark with a 3.94 ERA.

BMU Playoffs

The BMU playoffs are down to the final two teams: the Melrose Eyebots (Qui) and Foxborough Minutemen (Good). In the Association Finals, the Eyebots defeated the Brunswick Brainiacs (ST), 4 games to 2. The Minutemen downed the Meriden Attack Dogs (Cam) in five games, 4 games to 1.

Right now, Melrose has a 2-0 series lead, winning Game 1, 8-0, and Game 2, 5-2. SP Pin Luu, a second-round pick in 2315, threw a complete-game shutout in Game 1.

BMU Players of the Month

CA Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Beast Reid set the league afire in July and took home the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month award.

The Melrose shortstop posted a steady .367 batting average, 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 7 runs.

At present, Reid is batting .226 and has collected 13 home runs, 35 RBIs, .308 OBP and scored 35 runs.

MA Hitter - Meriden Attack Dogs fans believe they've got a talented young star in Striker Priester.

He did nothing to dissuade that notion in July, as he hit .364 with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

The end result was the right fielder being named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month.

Priester has collected 46 hits for the Attack Dogs this year, 9 of them home runs. He has also netted 30 RBIs and scored 23 runs while batting .315.

CA Pitcher - Nash Stylvian left little doubt in the minds of Commonwealth Association officials that he should be named July's Pitcher of the Month for his outstanding performance.

"I wasn't always confident at the start of a game," said Stylvian. "Sometimes it's hard to get into the flow -- the calls aren't going your way or you're trying to spot your pitches too much. You just have to relax and use what you've been taught all your life -- get back to basics -- good mechanics, control, location, keep the ball down."

The 22-year-old tossed 19.2 innings of quality baseball -- going 3-0 with a 0.46 ERA and 15 strikeouts.

This year, Stylvian has registered 4 wins and 4 losses in 15 starts with a 2.38 ERA while registering 75 strikeouts and 37 walks in 87 innings.

MA Pitcher - Ray Darkseid of Foxborough had an excellent July with a 3-0 record and was selected as the Pitcher of the Month in the Massachusetts Association.

He finished the month with a 3.09 ERA while piling up 15 strikeouts in 23.1 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .205 batting average.

GBRL Playoffs

The GBRL is now in the Greater Boston Series with two of the four playoff teams remaining: the Graygarden Action Boys (Atom) and the Mayoral Shelter Tricentennials (BH). In the Heroes League Championship Series, the Boys downed the Sandy Coves Freaks (), 4 games to 3. The Tricentennials edged the Somerville Place jets (), 4 games to 3 in the Saviors League Championship Series.

In the Greater Boston Series, the teams are tied at one win apiece. Mayoral Shelter took Game 1, 8-2, behind the bat of Phillip Rafferty, who scored twice and drove in two runs. In Game 2, the Action Boys fought back, winning it 4-3. SP Lorne French received Player of the Game honors after allowing just two earned runs in 6.0 innings.

GBRL Players of the Month

HL Hitter - Quintin Spicer has a lot going for him. The Augusta shortstop just broke into the majors this year and now the Heroes League has just picked him as its top hitter for July.

In 13 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .380 with 3 home runs, 18 RBIs and 12 runs scored.

So far this season, Spicer has gotten 47 hits in 129 at-bats for a .364 batting average with 5 home runs. His stats include 37 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has played in 34 games.

SL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 18 Cam Hall has a lot of baseball ahead of him.

But for now the young Stamford Cappies star can enjoy the numbers he put up in July, which have garnered him the nod as the Saviors League Batter of the Month.

His breakout month featured a .466 average with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

So far in 2319 Hall is batting .350 with 25 home runs, 77 RBIs and 88 runs scored. He has 114 hits in 326 at-bats and a .458 OBP.

HL Pitcher - In July Kingsport starter Stop Sign Welsh mystified Heroes League hitters and carried off the Pitcher of the Month honors by chalking up a 3-0 record in 3 starts.

The 18-year-old Welsh added 26 strikeouts in 19.2 innings and 6 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.83 ERA. Opposing batters hit .229 against him.

This season, Welsh has registered 4 wins and 3 losses in 18 starts with a 4.31 ERA.

SL Pitcher - Kirwin Farley really tore up the Saviors League this past month. He went 3-0 in July and won the Pitcher of the Month award.

In 5 starts he struck out 26 in 33.2 innings with a 3.48 ERA.

This year, Farley has compiled a 9-2 mark with a 3.36 ERA.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL and APL

by Evan Guy

1 August 2319

Victory Comfortable, Dark in a Battle

Well, folks. We have reached it. The final month of the final regular season in Nuka World League history. We are down to the final 17 or 18 regular season games. In the North Bradberton Division, Victory, a 1/2 game ahead of Dark for the NWL's top record, has a seven-game division lead and a Magic # of 11.

The South Bradberton Division is more contentious with the Bloodworms, on a five-game winning streak, up by just two on Orange. Dark has been 7-3 in their last 10 games, while the Tourists have gone 5-5. Dark has won the NWL the last two seasons.

Bitsy Blume put his mark on the Nuka World League this July by putting together some award-winning numbers. Wild's right fielder took home the Batter of the Month award on the strength of his .482 batting average.

He tacked up 41 hits, 7 home runs, 22 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

Currently Blume has 12 home runs and a .393 batting average.

When Mad Mutt Vinegar takes the hill, he's a good bet to nail down the victory for the Quantum Nukalurks. At least that's the way it was in May.

He excelled with a 4-1 mark and 2.66 ERA in 6 starts. In 47.1 innings, he fanned 35 and walked 16.
That's why he was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the Nuka World League.

This season, Vinegar has 6 wins and 7 losses and a 4.64 ERA.

Tiger McQuaid proved to be one of the Nuka World League's preeminent rookies last month, putting up some sensational numbers to take the Rookie of the Month trophy.

In July the first baseman for Wild had a .368 average, stroked 28 hits, 5 home runs, drove in 18 runs and drew 19 walks for a .500 OBP.

Thus far this year, McQuaid is batting .326 with 11 home runs, 49 RBIs and 48 runs scored.

There are 12 gaqmes remaining on the season in the Amusement Park League, but all teams are alive with just one in danger of falling out of the race.

In the North Division, the Nuka Bottling plant Pack have a one-game lead over both Nuka Jolly and Junkyard. Red Rocket trails by two games at .500.

There is a little more distance in the South Division, with Dunmore up by two games on Grandchester, which is at .500. At six games back, the Galcatic Zone G-Force is in danger of missing out sooner than later. They have gone a league-worst 3-7 in their last 10, dropping them a further back of the pack.

At only 22 years of age, Aaron Reels could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.

That would be great news for fans of the Grandchester Flying Ants, as July was one to remember for the left fielder and he has captured the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month award.

On the month he hit .388 with 7 home runs, 23 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Looking at his present stats, Reels has compiled a .321 batting average in 48 games with a .415 on-base percentage, while hitting 11 home runs and driving in 35 runs.

The Nuka Jolly Elves celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Sam Rosenberg had been selected as July's Amusement Park League Pitcher of the Month. Rosenberg's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic.

"Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Rosenberg said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs."

Rosenberg tossed 31 innings last month, holding opponents to a .259 average while striking out 24 batters. In 5 starting assignments he came away with a 3-1 record, putting together an ERA of 3.77.

To date this season, Rosenberg has compiled a 6-1 record with a 3.24 ERA in 10 starts.

Vim! View

News of the Vim! League and Its Affiliates

by Jimmy Gresham

1 August 2318

National Park, Grand Hotel Sit on Four-Game Leads

In what has probably been the best season ever(!), the National Park Gulpers and Grand Hotel Atoms currently have comfortable leads of four games each in their divisions. The Gulpers are on a nine-game winning streak that has vaulted them past Eden Meadows in the Fog Division. For the Atoms, they have struggled, losing their last three and 7 of their last 10, but they are doing better right now that Far Harbor, losers of their last five, in the Harbor Division. Cranberry Island and Acadia seem to be out of the race at this point.

Vim! League Players of the Month

Hitter - The Vim! League has selected its Hitter of the Month for July and the honor went to Ruwee Naba, Far Harbor's fine left fielder.

Naba was selected after batting .457, hitting 8 home runs, scoring 21 runs and driving in 20.

Currently Naba is batting .402 with 15 home runs and 51 RBIs.

Pitcher - Jason Woods certainly found a groove in July. The Echo Lake starter posted 5 wins last month to easily claim the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month.

During the month Woods was 5-0 with a 5.19 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 43.1 innings and had 30 strikeouts.

In 17 starts this season, Woods has gathered 6 wins while suffering 6 losses. He has pitched 109 innings, allowed 143 hits, struck out 67 and has a 6.19 ERA.

Rookie - The Vim! League has made it official -- Rapp Unzelle is the winner of the Rookie of the Month award.

During July the National Park left fielder was outstanding with a .351 batting average, 2 home runs and 18 RBIs. Unzelle also had 13 walks and posted a .422 on-base percentage.

In his season totals Unzelle has 5 home runs and a .348 batting average.

MDIL Analysis

The Cliff's Edge Actors have been red-hot, winning eight straight to claim the lead in the Small Bertha Division. The Actors now possess the league's best record at 30-18 with a two-game lead over the Nucleus Radchickens, who have lost three in a row. In the Old Longfellow Division, the Kitteredge Rad Rabbits are up by one game on Rayburn Point and two games on Haddock Cove and MS Azalea.

MDIL Players of the Month

Hitter - Bloop Single made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Mount Desert Island League this past month.

The Rock Point Barnacles right fielder shined through the month of July and has won the Batter of the Month award.

The 22-year-old hit .368 with 9 home runs, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

So far this year, Single is batting .331 with 16 home runs and 37 RBIs.

Pitcher - When the Actors skipper wrote Severin on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in July he took command and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 3-1 mark and 2.48 ERA in 4 starts. The gifted Actors star pitched 29 innings, fanned 20 and held opposing teams to a .248 average.

For his excellent mound work Severin was named the MDIL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

Severin has made 12 starts this season, posting 8 wins and 2 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .234 against him and he has 68 strikeouts in 87.1 innings with a 2.89 ERA.

Far Harbor Fog

On a personal note, I have been asked by Small Bertha and accepted the offer to be the official correspondent in late 2319 for the Far Harbor Fog. That will include spending a lot of time in the Boston Commonwealth covering the Fog in their games. I will also report on some of the minor league, college, and youth league activities on Mount Desert Island and parts of Maine's mainland. Stay tuned for what will be the best franchise ever in the CBO!

The Fog will begin official operations following the 2319 CBO season with an expansion draft. I have also received word that there will be two rookie teams for the expansion teams, giving them extra chances to develop talent. The Fog plan to hold tryouts on the island to help recruit some local talent for their team. The entirety of the Vim! League has been asked to report to tryouts, even some of the old veterans, like Echo Lake's Frankfurter Gifford, who was talking just this past week of attempting to continue playing baseball if he could, or at least working in it if his career is over.

There had been some talk of creating a veterans league of players over 30, but no plans have come to be. The CBO is expected to start covering more of the impending expansion, and I have received word that there would be an announcement early next week about the expansion teams' expected minor league affiliations. Far Harbor is hoping to land one of the teams from the Vim! League.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

4 August 2319

CBO Expansion Update - Minors Affiliations

The 2320 season is not entirely settled as there will still be teams moving around. However, the CBO has announced that it has finalized the affiliations for the four expansion teams and an update on a few procedures related to the move from 28 CBO teams to 32.

Each of the expansion teams will receive a team in each of the NEBL (AAA), MML (AA), BMU (A), and GBRL (R). The CBO has also announced that there will be a second rookie league, currently as a short season rookie league that will play fewer than the 88 games that are played in the GBRL. There is no word yet how many games that will be.

Commissioner Jimmy LaRue explained the need: "We want the expansion teams to be competitive within five seasons, so we are giving them an opportunity to stock more players.

The GBRL will remain at 40-man rosters but the expansion teams will have the opportunity to develop an unlimited number of players up to 26 years old in the short-season league."

That league will be called the VerHamp Rookie League with four total teams located in Vermont and New Hampshire. We will show the model of the league with teams and uniforms in the attachment below.

Here are the named affiliations for each team along with their geographical league designation:

Brotherhood League - Far Harbor Fog
NEBL - Norwalk Pickpockets
MML - Leominster Actors
BMU - Greenfield Disciples
GBRL - National Park Gulpers
VHRL - Conway Pinehawks

Institute League - Nuka World Thrills
NEBL - Stamford Cappies
MML - Chelsea Hackers
BMU - Diamond Island Glowers
GBRL - Orange Tourists
VHRL - Montpelier Monarchs

Minutemen League - Cape Cod Mirelurks
NEBL - Haverhill Grooms
MML - Natick Big Leaguers
BMU - Narragansett Sounds
GBRL - Quartz Star Force
VHRL - Burlington Tridents

Railroad League - Providence Super Mutants
NEBL - Somerville Place Jets
MML - Billerica Locos
BMU - Biddeford Rad Rabbits
GBRL - Cranberry Island Hermit Crabs
VHRL - Lebanon Comets

Speaking of the regional designations, Commissioner LaRue has also tossed out the possibility of one day unseating the North vs South arrangement with the possibility of each association having a mixture of teams. He mentioned that the pre-War Major League Baseball was set up that way.

"Yeah, we've talked about a lot of things in the future of the league," LaRue said. "In the M-L-B, they had leagues called the American and National. Teams from all over played in each league but each league also had regions, like North, South, East, and West. We have had a lot of fun reimagining what the CBO could look like if, say, Diamond City and Bunker Hill and Goodneighbor all played in the same division. That could be something we consider as our transportation means continue to improve. We might need some massive vertibirds to make that a reality, though!"

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

8 August 2319

Minors Report

Two more regular seasons have ended and the playoffs of the bottom two leagues have concluded. Here are the results.

NEBL

Another New England Baseball League campaign is in the books. The regular season has ended and the playoffs are about to begin. It is a time of skill, talent -- and luck. And when all the games have been played, one team will survive and be crowned the 2319 New England Series champion.

Some clubs have coasted to make the playoffs -- others have scrapped tooth and nail to get here. After a long, sometimes seemingly endless regular season, it gets down to who can win a short series -- by hook or crook, talent or luck. That's what it takes to capture the New England Baseball League championship. The top teams will vie in the New England Series starting today:
Brockton Irish vs Fairfield Greasers and Hamden Lifegivers vs Lowell Sentry Bots.

MML

Massachusetts Minor League just concluded the regular season -- and the playoffs -- the real season -- are slated to begin soon. The playoffs separate the men from the boys -- there are no weak sisters in the playoffs. Only the best clubs qualify. You have to play your best to survive. And when it's all over, you can be proud to be proclaimed the Massachusetts Minor Series winner.

To win the Massachusetts Minor League title is the zenith of any baseball career.

Players on postseason qualifiers will get the chance of a lifetime beginning today with the League Championship Series, where both heroes and goats will arise, but only one team will emerge as the Massachusetts Minor Series champion.

The playoffs are a time for managers to map out pitching and batting matchups and on-the-field strategy. Rivalries soar to new heights and destiny's fickle finger holds the fate of the teams and players. The League Championship Series begins today with these games:

BMU Playoffs

The Melrose Eyebots earned their 1st Boston Minor Series title and now have all winter to spend basking in the glory, while the beaten Foxborough Minutemen will have plenty of time to wonder what went wrong.

Melrose became the Boston Minor Union champion for 2319 with a 4-3 triumph to capture the series 4-1.

"Both clubs are talented. We just made fewer mistakes than they did," winning manager Tom Stamey said to the press corps at the postgame press conference. "We made the crucial plays and got the timely hits."

Foxborough skipper Goomer Bermea agreed with that assessment, saying his club turned out to be "a little weak on fundamentals" at crucial times.

"I have a sneaking suspicion we will be working on fundamentals a lot next spring," he said.

On the way to the Boston Minor Series championship, the Eyebots ended up in first place in the Commonwealth Association Cambridge Division and compiled a 48-40 record during the regular season.

GBRL Playoffs

It's party time in Mayoral Shelter. The confetti is flying and residents are smiling.

The Mayoral Shelter Tricentennials have reached the mountaintop, capturing the 2319 Greater Boston Series today. They defeated the Graygarden Action Boys 5-0 at Boston Shelter Field to officially wrap up the series 4-3.

Asked how it feels to be a champion, left fielder Swatter Palmer was to the point.

"It feels great, like a million bucks. I'm so happy right now, not just for me but for all the guys," he said. "We put a lot of work into this and deserve to be champions."

The team is planning a victory parade and fan appreciation day later in the week. Mayoral Shelter finished the regular season 58-30 and claimed first place in the Saviors League Garvey Division.

I don't remember ever seeing a person with two or more injuries at the same time. I was curious since there was a question mark next to his return time even with a news story stating 4-5 weeks more for his recovery:

"The injury that has kept Lance Tinter out of action since 08/11/2319 will keep him out a while longer. Malden Grognaks officials made the announcement this afternoon. They said that Tinter is expected to miss at least 4-5 weeks with knee tendinitis.

Thus far this year, Tinter has hit .252 with 8 home runs and 30 RBIs."

Race to Sole Survivor Series: Through Lexington and Diamond City

In the race to the playoffs and either 13 or 14 games remaining for teams on the season in the last two weeks, the Lexington Synths and Diamond City Swatters currently sit at the top in their associations. The playoff picture has begun to clear up, but some teams currently struggling could swing their way up, while there are some teams hot that could falter down the stretch. Only four teams--County Crossing, Quincy, Spectacle Island, and Oberland--have been eliminated. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Teams (Total Points, Tendency):
1) Diamond City Swatters (121.7, +)
2) Atom Cats (115.3, ++)
3) FHE Yao Guai (107.5, ++)
4) Lexington Synths (107.2, --)
5) Goodneighbor Hancocks (103.5, +)
6) Egret Ninjas (102.8, ++)
7) Vault 81 Dwellers (102.6, --)
8) Malden Grognaks (99.8, ++)
9) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (98.5, --)
10) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (98.3, -)
11) Cambridge Coursers (93.7, +)
12) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (92.3, -)
13) University Point Deathclaws (92.3, ++)
14) Southie Brews (89.7, --)
15) Easy Town Assaultrons (88.8, --)
16) Bunker Hill 75ers (86.7, -)
17) Starlight Killers (84.7, o)
18) Nahant Celtics (84.2, o)
19) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (83.3, --)
20) Roxbury Rad Sox (81.9, ++)
21) Concord Radstags (80.2, +)
22) The Slog Ghouls (79.2, -)
23) Quincy Granites (76.9, +)
24) Spectacle Island Reapers (76.8, ++)
25) Salem Witch Hats (76.3, --)
26) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (71.9, --)
27) Oberland T-51s (66.2, +)
28) County Crossing Bloodbugs (61.2, -)

Current Playoff Seeds:

NCA
1. Lexington
2. Easy Town
3. Malden
4. Sunshine Tidings (5-5 vs FtH, 24-28 vs IL)
5. Fort Hagen (5-5 vs ST, 22-28 vs IL)
6. Cambridge

SCA
1. Diamond City
2. Atom
3. Vault 81
4. Jamaica Plain (3-1 vs FHE)
5. FHE (1-3 vs JP)
6. Goodneighbor

Brotherhood League

Easy Town has struggled in July (9-15) and August (5-11), putting their chance to clinch the BL in jeopardy. Malden has won four-straight, placing them just two back of the Trons. Nahant and The Slog have not been able to keep pace with the Institute League teams, dropping them out of the playoff race for now. The Celtics are three back of the last wildcard spot, so wins are needed. Salem and Nordhagen Beach have both gone cold and are likely to be eliminated by next week unless they go on winning streaks. County Crossing is close to clinching 7th.

The Assaultrons should not be struggling but they are. Easy Town is 2nd in runs scored (632) and 6th in runs allowed (562). CF Eden Babz (.354/23/97/71 SB) leads the NCA in average, RBI, and stolen bases, meaning it is likely he will win back-to-back Nuka Hitter Awards and his third in the last four seasons. Pitching is struggling, though, with Cutter Redman (6-9, 3.26) the only starter with an ERA below 4.00. RP Shawn Dunn (23 SV, 5.01) has also been moved out of the closer spot due to his struggles. SP Cohort Williams (11-5, 4.05) should be returning from injury by next week, so that will help the Trons in the playoff race and the playoffs themselves.

Institute League

The Synths have their Magic # down to 5 in clinching the IL and 8 for the top seed in the NCA. They have played well enough to maintain status quo, while the three teams behind them have played well. Sunshine Tidings and Fort Hagen are currently tied for 2nd, with Cambridge trailing them by a game. All three of those teams are now above .500, which looks to be the division point (.500) for playoffs vs no playoffs. Starlight, Bunker Hill, and Concord trail, but they are all still in the race at this point.

Lexington is the best of a weak association, and even then, the offense is amazingly unproductive for a lot of talent. The Synths are 8th in runs scored (558) with stolen bases (3rd at 85) being their best stat. LF Dude Lebowski (.330/17/59) is not struggling and the offense is not terrible. If they would produce more runs, we would name the Synths as the favorites to win the title. Instead, we think they will be the #1 seed but feel there is too much that could derail them from even making the Sole Survivor Seried, much less win it all. Pitching has been good, though, including being 1st in runs allowed (483) and Bullpen ERA (3.57). Ace Aaron Noluh (11-11, 3.72) has been pitching much better, winning four-straight decisions from July 26-August 10. Veteran SP Deedee Martinson (15-4, 2.68) has been on fire all season after replacing Admiral Kelm (Nahant) as the 4th starter.

Minutemen League

Atom is starting to pull away with Jamaica Plain's recent struggles. The Cats can now concentrate on their pursuit of the #1 seed, though the Swatters do not seem to want to give up that spot, either as the CBO's hottest team. The Rockets have a newly hot Goodneighbor team that had been good in the first half and bad in the second half of the season for years now. That may have changed as they are solidly ahead of the 7th seed Egret by three games. While technically still alive, University Point and Southie need to win a lot and get some help. The Granites and Reapers are contending for the 3rd and 4th overall picks (behind Oberland/County Crossing).

The Cats still appear to be the CBO's best team. That has manifested itself with being #1 in runs scored (661) and runs allowed (497). In the batting lineup, everyone is hitting well, so it is difficult to pick a team MVP. That is probably RF Candy Kline (.325/15/66/27 SB) who leads in average and stolen bases and tied for the team lead with Redeye Perez in homers. On the mound, Josh Brown (15-9, 2.89) has been the leader of a great staff, 1st in Starters ERA (3.64). SP Mesquite Williams (16-6, 3.23) trails only Salem's Paul Stains (17) in wins.

Railroad League

As mentioned, the Swatters are hot, winning their last five and 9 of their last 11. With Vault 81 going 3-7 in their last 10, Diamond City is now looking to push themselves back in position to repeat as champions. FHE has won four-straight, putting them just two back of the Dwellers. Egret has won five-straight, and, as mentioned, is in the race but needs to do work. Glowing Sea has struggled to stay healthy and is now fading down the stretch with pitching struggling. Roxbury has no chance, while the T-51s are officially eliminated and still holding on to the #1 spot in the draft. Speaking of the draft, the official draft pool has been announced. See the top prospects in Noteworthy News below.

Diamond City is 3rd in runs scored (589) and runs allowed (504), giving them an advantage in every game. Their weakness is hitting the long ball, last in the SCA with 90. SS Alex Bragman (.304/15/70) is on his typical pace of homers, hitting on average just under 20 per season. Pitching, of course is good, including being 2nd in Starters ERA (3.71). Macho Lopez (16-5, 3.05) is in the race for the Vim! Pitcher Award. CL Machine Beard (38 SV, 2.98) has been vulnerable recently, but he is still in range of tying or breaking the single-season saves record of 41 (four players).

CBO Standings

CBO Players of the Week

August 4 - This week's recipient of the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award is center fielder Pro Jabonete of Cambridge.

Jabonete showed great patience at the plate, collecting 9 hits in 21 at-bats as he compiled a .429 average, 3 home runs, 15 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

Looking at his season stats, Jabonete has compiled a .349 batting average and a .398 on-base percentage, while hitting 16 home runs and driving in 78 runs.

When it came to hitting the baseball, Brass Well was in a class by himself in the South Charles Association this past week. Nobody did it better.

The outstanding shortstop for FHE tagged opposing pitchers for a .632 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 12 hits in 19 at-bats, 0 homers, 4 runs scored and 4 RBIs.

Well is currently hitting at a .345 pace with 10 home runs, 59 RBIs and has scored 70 times.

August 11 - When it came to hitting the baseball, Eden Babz had few peers in the North Charles Association this past week.

The talented center fielder for Easy Town tagged opposing pitchers for a .577 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 15 hits in 26 at-bats, 1 homers, 5 runs scored and 10 RBIs.

For the year, Babz has hit at a .356 clip with 88 RBIs, 22 home runs and 94 runs scored.

Ditcher Doyle Cobbler has the tools to stick in this league for many years. The 23-year-old center fielder of the Southie Brews had a hot bat in the South Charles Association over the past seven days and won the Player of the Week honors.

Cobbler batted .481 with 13 hits in 27 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs.

This season in 106 games, Cobbler is batting .274 with 8 home runs, 46 RBIs and has scored 64 times.

August 18 - It was an extraordinary week for Jim Geiger of the Cambridge Coursers. First he goes on a hot hitting streak, batting .480, then he is voted the Player of the Week in the North Charles Association. Last week Geiger went 12-for-25, racked up 4 home runs and 6 RBIs and scored 6 runs. It was a heck of a week for the Cambridge right fielder.

In the 2319 season Geiger is hitting .244 with 14 home runs.

When it came to hitting the baseball, Buns Palmer was in a class by himself in the South Charles Association this past week. Nobody did it better.

The outstanding second baseman for Egret tagged opposing pitchers for a .550 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 11 hits in 20 at-bats, 1 homers, 5 runs scored and 5 RBIs.

This season, Palmer is batting .337 with 11 home runs.

CBO Noteworthy News

July 31 - It likely won't turn either team into an instant contender or provide a huge franchise shakeup, but the Sunshine Tidings Chemists and Roxbury Rad Sox finalized a trade today. Sunshine Tidings will send 19-year old minor league RHP Howard Chalmers to the Rad Sox, while the Chemists will receive 25-year old RHP Torcan Frawley and 24-year old minor league RHP Flipper Atkinson.

"We think this is a deal that will help out both teams and we're glad to get it done," Chemists general manager Frank Freeman said.

The trade is expected to be officially completed later today with the players joining their new ballclubs by the end of the day.

Checking out his stats for the year, Frawley has racked up 3 wins and 5 losses in 13 starts, posted a 5.23 ERA, and struck out 53 batters in 63.2 innings.

July 31 - It has been in the rumor mill for several weeks, but today team officials for Quincy and Glowing Sea confirmed an agreement. The Granites dealt 34-year old SS Pipewrench Mathis and a 3rd round draft pick to the Radscorpions for 23-year old minor league 1B Gary Tide, 20-year old minor league SS Spot Tahir, 18-year old minor league LHP Lucky Duck Hughes, and a 2nd round draft pick.

Hitting .270 to date, Mathis has 7 home runs and 39 RBIs. He has played in 96 games.

July 31 - BNN has learned the Lexington Synths have reportedly worked out a deal with the Roxbury Rad Sox. Sources close to the Synths indicated that a trade has been reached in principle where 29-year old RHP Saint O'Fender and 20-year old minor league LF Alex Russian will be swapped to Lexington with 22-year old minor league 1B Krieg Hawksea heading to Roxbury. Neither organization would comment on the report, saying it was club policy not to speak about a trade until it was finalized.

This year, Hawksea has batted at a .263 pace with 5 hits, 1 home run, 4 RBIs and scored 3 times.

To date this year, in 25 starts, O'Fender has crafted a 9-5 mark with a 3.58 ERA.

August 5 - Paper Mills has been on a tear for several weeks, and his hitting streak just keeps getting longer. The 26-year-old Concord Radstags shortstop extended his streak to 20 games, going 1-for-4 as Concord got the best of the Malden Grognaks at Nuka Park, 4-1.

"Paper has been playing real well lately and we're proud of him," Radstags manager Chris Barrientos said.
Paper Mills grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th and doubled in the 7th.

On the year, Mills has hit .307 with 10 home runs, 52 RBIs and scored 58 runs.

August 7 - Commonwealth Baseball Organization announced the 2319 amateur draft pool today, a scant 90 days in advance of the actual draft. For scouts, it is the toughest challenge of the season, trying to come up with an educated guess as to what a young man in his late teens or early twenties is going to do at the professional level a good five years down the road, at best. Some will go on gut instincts; some will rely on years of experience; but most will find it disconcerting how much their team is beholden to Lady Luck. Choose well and they are geniuses; choose poorly and they are unemployed.

A complete rundown of the draft list is available in the Transactions area for quick reference and will be available 90 days before the draft.

The early favorites to be high picks are the following:
1. Rocket Rooth, 18 year-old 1B out of high-school.
2. Viper Kowalski, 17 year-old CF out of high-school.
3. Snack Boy Jordan Brown, 21 year-old 3B out of college.
4. Old Blue Sandoval, 21 year-old RF out of college.
5. JaRussell Marcus, 20 year-old 1B out of college.
6. Lucky Duck Hastings, 20 year-old 1B out of college.
7. Joe Rathmann Jr., 17 year-old C out of high-school.
8. Graham Cracker Fontenot, 20 year-old RHP out of college.
9. Acrobat Magee, 17 year-old 1B out of high-school.
10. Specs Blake, 17 year-old RHP out of high-school.

August 7 - The Spectacle Island Reapers had no answer for pitcher Jared Porch and the Goodneighbor Hancocks. Porch tossed a no-hitter against the Reapers, totaling 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in an impressive 4-0 win at Third Rail Stadium.

"Everything was working today," he told reporters following the game. "I had excellent location and great movement on my pitches. Good things happen when all of it comes together like that."

The Spectacle Island clubhouse emptied out quickly following the game. Reapers skipper Slim Twohand joked that it was "as silent as our bats were today."

"I don't have much to say to you guys right now," he told BNN reporters. "I'm speechless after that performance."

This year, Porch has posted a record of 14 wins and 7 losses with a 3.56 ERA. He has appeared in 28 games and struck out 128 in 197 innings.

August 9 - Nordhagen Beach scout Steve Strubberg talked today about a new "analytics-approach" to scouting. Strubberg stated that he was alerted to an archive at the Nahant Community Library. There he found a book from the early 21st Century about maximizing talent. He has stated that he is beginning to look into ways to fit the right players into the right situations and he is working with some of the coaching staff, including hitting coach Daniel Fish and pitching coach Brent Hooker on incorporating some of those philosophies into the Party Boys' system.

August 10 - Team doctors reported that the pace of recovery for Lance Tinter has been hampered by several recent setbacks and they have reassessed his injury situation. If all goes well, the Malden Grognaks first baseman should rejoin the club in one week. Tinter is suffering from a knee contusion.

Tinter is hitting .253 this year with 8 home runs and 30 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .384, 51 walks and scored 41 times.

August 11 - Lady Luck was not on the side of Paper Mills or his teammates at Lucky Charms Bowl.

Everything went the way of the Nahant Celtics, who not only came away with the 5-4 victory over Concord, but also held Mills hitless in 6 at-bats to put an end to his 24-game hitting streak.

"It was a good run," Mills said afterward. "It would be much easier to take right now if we had won."

In 2319 Mills has hit at a .309 clip with 125 hits, 12 home runs, 56 RBIs and has scored 62 times.

August 13 - The injury that has kept Lance Tinter out of action since 08/11/2319 will keep him out a while longer. Malden Grognaks officials made the announcement this afternoon. They said that Tinter is expected to miss at least 4-5 weeks with knee tendinitis.

Thus far this year, Tinter has hit .252 with 8 home runs and 30 RBIs.

August 14 - Lexington's Tommy Whitetiger was arrested and will be jailed for five days after a barroom brawl at The Clubhouse in The Slog. Whitetiger injured a settler, sending him to the Smooth Skin Clinic, thus the arrest. The Synths will visit Spectacle Island and the Glowing Sea without Whitetiger.

August 15 - The season will end prematurely for Jalep Temper, the Bunker Hill starting pitcher. He suffered a broken bone in the elbow on 08/11/2319, an injury that is serious enough to knock him out of action for the rest of the year. Temper was not available for comment.

In 27 starts this season, Temper has crafted a 10-7 record with a 4.03 ERA.

August 18 - The Bunker Hill 75ers have lost the services of Miko Miko for the rest of this season. He suffered a torn labrum in a recent ballgame and the follow-up report from the medical staff is not good. Miko is out for the year.

This year, Miko is batting .292 with 9 home runs and 51 RBIs.

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

25 August 2319

Minor League Updates

While the CBO begins its final regular season week of the season, the minors are now complete with the last of the champions declared and award winners known for the two shorter seasons, the BMU and GBRL.

NEBL Playoffs

For the Lowell Sentry Bots, it was a joyful time; for the Fairfield Greasers, it was gloom and doom.

With a 4-1 win at Mahkra Fishpacking Stadium, Lowell closed out the championship 4-3 over Fairfield.

The Sentry Bots have now won their 1st league championship in franchise history. The streets around the Sentry Bots' stadium were a mob scene, filling quickly with fans, while banners and flags were held high and waved proudly.

"It's unbelievable for us, our great fans, and all of Lowell," said a smiling owner The owner of the Lowell Sentry Bots. "The guys really put their heart and soul into this season and it paid off for them."

In a somewhat somber and dejected Greasers clubhouse, manager Amari Sharpe said his team "just didn't get the job done."

"The Sentry Bots played as good as any team I've seen and deserve to be champions," he said.

The champs finished the regular season 67-41 and claimed first place in the Yankee League Old Glory Division.

MML Playoffs

The Brookline Bandoliers were good enough to get past the Middletown Sextants at The Compass today and secure the 2nd championship in franchise history.

"When you wear Bandoliers on your shirt, you're good at something," Brookline skipper Kip Bomb told the press.

Bandoliers right fielder Murrough Pittman was named MVP of the series after he went .438 with 1 home run and 2 RBI.

"It feels totally incredible," Pittman said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment."

The new champions capped off a great season with a 5-0 victory over the Sextants to win the Massachusetts Minor Series 3-1.

County Crossing Has Record Day

The 2319 season may not be one for nostalgia for the County Crossing Bloodbugs, but that did not stop the team that will have the potential #1 overall pick from setting a single-game scoring record against the team likely to be the CBO's top team.

The Bugs scored 30 runs in a 30-2 win at the Cats, setting the single-game scoring record, the first time a team has reached 30 runs (StLee: I think) in CBO history. One major key, a record-setting hitting performance by one player.

6 times is the charm -- at least for Scott Eacott.

The Bloodbugs center fielder tore up the Atom Cats to the tune of 6 hits in 6 at-bats at Coolest Field in Town. The offensive onslaught from Eacott powered the 30-2 Bloodbugs win.

"Eacott was a tough out," Atom manager Josh Mustang said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."

Scott Eacott tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Gim Lee in the 6th, walked in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Spider Caddell in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

For the year, Eacott has hit .293 with 13 home runs, 74 RBIs and scored 64 runs.

County Crossing is now 46-77, a half-game ahead of Oberland (46-78) in the race for the CBO's top pick. Atom (76-48) holds the CBO's top record. This result is as unexpected as could be.

CBO Regular Season Ends: Lexington, Atom Earn Top Seeds

The 2319 regular season has concluded, our last season with just 28 teams. We will have plenty of news and coverage in the offseason regarding the expansion and the impending sale of the Oberland T-51s.

But for now, let's look at how this thing ended. This season lacked in drama that the 2318 season had with no games of importance on the final day. There were possibilities of seeding changes on the last day, but none of those came to fruition, either.

In the NCA, only four teams are above .500 to finish the season. The two .500 teams, Cambridge and Sunshine Tidings, are two of the more disappointing, and for the Chemists, banged up, teams in the playoffs, so their exit should be soon. However, Malden is down the most talent, so the Chemists could have a shot as the #6 seed. Lexington clinched the #1 overall seed, with Easy Town hanging on to the Brotherhood League for the #2 seed.

Atom owns the CBO's top record. Diamond City maintained their lead to clinch the Railroad League. Glowing Sea and Goodneighbor faded away after great starts with Egret bursting into the #6 seed. Every NCA seed looks good enough to win the Sole Survivor Series.

Final CBO Standings

CBO Playoff Tree

CBO Players of the Week

August 25 - J.J. Gray demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award.

The Easy Town shortstop wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .480 average (12-for-25) with 1 home run and 12 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.

So far this year, Gray is hitting .314 with 14 home runs.

It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Nathan Done, the Vault 81 Dwellers 25-year-old third baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for South Charles Association Player of the Week honors.

He ripped 8 hits in 11 at-bats, compiling a .727 average with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.

In his season totals Done has 10 home runs and a .348 batting average.

CBO Noteworthy News

August 19 - Floren Habern will have to wait a while longer. The Malden center fielder was informed this afternoon that he will miss another 6 weeks with a strained posterior cruciate ligament. The injury has kept him off the field since 08/16/2319. Though Habern had hoped to return soon, he has no choice but to be patient. "Gotta stay focused," he said. "Gotta stay positive."

So far this year, Habern has 10 home runs and a .301 batting average.

August 21 - In a news release, the Egret Ninjas announced that starting pitcher Diesel O'Neal would miss the rest of the season due to radial nerve compression. O'Neal sustained the injury on 08/20/2319. He "will be sorely missed," said his manager.

Checking out his stats for the season, O'Neal has notched 4 wins and 2 losses in 12 starts. His ERA is 3.31 and he's struck out 32 batters in 73.1 innings.

August 22 - Obviously disappointed, Ahsoka Tano confirmed today that his season is officially over. The Malden starting pitcher offered mostly monosyllabic responses to reporters. "Nope," he said, when asked if he might possibly return this year. The 36-year-old Tano suffered an arthritic elbow on 08/20/2319 and has been out of action since.

In 28 starts this season, Tano has gathered 10 wins while suffering 7 losses. He has pitched 171 innings, allowed 156 hits, struck out 114 and has a 3.11 ERA.

August 25 - Scott Eacott truly did it all at Coolest Field in Town.

The County Crossing Bloodbugs center fielder hit for the cycle -- collecting 2 singles, 1 double, 1 triple and 2 home runs -- as he paced his club to victory, 30-2, over the Atom Cats.

"You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Eacott said later. "It was a heck of a feeling."

It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Atom pitching for 6 hits in 6 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Eacott also racked up 7 runs batted in and 5 runs scored in the game.

Scott Eacott tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Gim Lee in the 6th, walked in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Spider Caddell in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

Eacott is batting .293 this year with 13 home runs, 74 RBIs and 64 runs scored. He has 133 hits in 454 at-bats.

August 29 - Johnboy Zikmund of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists was injured in today's game against Lexington and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a strained back muscle, and he is expected to be out for up to 3 weeks. It happened while Zikmund was colliding with a player at a base. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."

This year, Zikmund is batting .296 with 126 hits and 27 home runs. He has scored 82 times and has batted in 86 runs.

August 31 - Brad Hop has been on a tear for several weeks, and his hitting streak just keeps getting longer. The 25-year-old Quincy Granites right fielder extended his streak to 20 games, going 1-for-5 as Quincy got the best of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at Red Rockets Stadium, 5-4.

"Brad has been playing real well lately and we're proud of him," Granites manager Ben Rodgers said.
Brad Hop walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, struck out in the 9th and struck out in the 11th.

This season, Hop has posted a batting average of .288 with 139 hits in 482 at-bats, 17 home runs and 62 RBIs. He has also scored 78 runs, walked 49 times and compiled a .359 OBP.

September 1 - One of the more prestigious postseason awards is presented to the league batting champion.

The North Charles Association recipient this year is Easy Town's 25-year-old center fielder Eden Babz, who hit .358 over 124 games.

Included in this accomplishment were 176 hits in 492 at-bats, 25 home runs, 109 runs batted in and 111 runs scored. Babz spoke humbly to reporters about the award.

"It's such a difficult thing to do," he explained, "There are a lot of great hitters in this league and to outhit them all is very special."

September 1 - The University Point Deathclaws had one hitter who stood out this past season with a dominant performance.

It was first baseman Plucky Epperson, who put up a league best .349 batting average, capturing the 2319 South Charles Association batting title.

The 23-year-old 173 hits, 33 doubles, 8 triples and 2 home runs for the year. In 124 games Epperson totaled 43 RBIs and scored 84 runs.

CBO Players of the Month

NCA Hitter - Pro Jabonete battered North Charles Association pitchers all August and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 26-year-old Jabonete told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 29 games, Jabonete hit .387 with 9 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 24 runs.

Jabonete is batting .355 with 23 home runs and 97 RBIs this season.

SCA Hitter - King Hippo, the Vault 81 second baseman, certainly made a name for himself this past month. He banged out a .440 batting average with 51 hits, 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 29 times.

That kind of hitting earned him the South Charles Association Batter of the Month honors for August.

Hippo is batting .337 this season in 124 games with 22 home runs, 69 RBIs and 100 runs scored. He has 170 hits in 504 at-bats.

NCA Pitcher - August's standout hurler was Hunter Kitchen of Fort Hagen. He muzzled North Charles Association hitters and held them in check the entire month to capture the Pitcher of the Month award.

To win the honor Kitchen compiled an impressive 5-1 mark and 3.54 ERA in 8 starts. The Silver Shroud star hurler also rung up 38 strikeouts in 56 innings.

So far this year, Kitchen has compiled a 8-6 record with a 3.48 ERA.

SCA Pitcher - Finnian Cook will be bringing August's South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month trophy home to Southie. He excelled all month long as he kept opposing hitters guessing, reaching and hoping.

Cook started 7 games, going 4-1 with 38 strikeouts in 43.1 innings as he compiled his 1.66 ERA.

In 24 starts this year, Cook has posted 11 wins while suffering 7 losses. He has pitched 150.2 innings, allowed 150 hits, struck out 126 and has a 4.12 ERA.

NCA Rookie - Marl Moriarty's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Bunker Hill first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In August he was voted the Rookie of the Month.

During the month he hit .307 with 9 doubles, no triples and 4 home runs. Moriarty also scored 15 times and drove in 20 runs.

This season, Moriarty is batting .319 with 117 hits, 21 home runs, 68 RBIs, 47 walks, .394 OBP and has scored 70 runs. He has played in 98 games.

SCA Rookie - It's hard for a newcomer to make their way in the South Charles Association, but Finnian Cook has withstood the pressure well. He posted a mark of 4-1 in August en route to his Rookie of the Month Award selection.

The 22-year-old starter for Southie worked 43.1 innings, striking out 38 and holding opponents to a .209 average. He also finished off the month with an ERA of 1.66.

For this year, Cook has chalked up 11 wins and 7 losses in 24 starts with 126 strikeouts in 150.2 innings and a 4.12 ERA.

August 4-5 @FtH: FtH 11-5, FtH 4-3

Analysis

The season series between the Cambridge Coursers and Fort Hagen Silver Shroud was one of two halves, or considerable home-field advantage. In the first half of the season, games played at Cambridge were all won by the Coursers. In the second half, at Fort Hagen, the Silver Shroud took 4 of 5.

Historically, the Shroud have had more success, but this is Cambridge's third appearance in four years. Fort Hagen is making its second-straight appearance. Last season, these teams met as the #4 (FtH) and #5 (Cam) seeds, with the Coursers getting the sweep on their way to their first-ever Sole Survivor Series appearance. This year's Cambridge team is not likely to do the same, but the Silver Shroud have been susceptible to huge cold streaks that they hope does not manifest itself in the playoffs.

For Cambridge, the team was average in both wins and statistics. They finished 6th in runs scored (637) and 8th in runs allowed (651). CF Pro Jabonete (.355/23/97) is in contention for the Nuka Hitter Award. LF bubbler Mayhem (.261/24/94) was also a major contributor. Every player in the starting lineup hit 12 or more homers but the team still finished 3rd in home run production (146).

On the mound, the starters were a bit disappointing, finishing 7th in ERA (4.52). The top two starters had ERA below that average, though not far away: Scooter Yaghmour (11-12, 4.43) and Malik Watts (14-9, 4.02). Bullets Barnes (4-4, 4.96) is the third starter with Freon McMahan (9-12, 4.16) moving to the bullpen. CL Monte Ward (29 SV, 3.42) was decent.

Fort Hagen was a lot more productive all-around statistically. The Shroud finished 2nd in runs scored (705) and 5th in runs allowed (619). Hitting begins with the star power of C Red Jay Jones (.305/32/101) who joined the team in a trade with Sunshine Tidings last season. LF Innis Sark (.289/23/79) and SS Nauseous Revere (.323/10/63/21 SB) have helped to power a good all-around offense.

Pitching had some good (Bullpen ERA 2nd at 3.99) and not-so-good (Starters ERA 10th at 4.57). Hunter Kitchen (8-6, 3.48 1 SV), the 2316 16th-overall pick, has moved into a permanent starters role. Nuke Laloosh (11-9, 4.35) is starting to show his age, and Alex Mazique (14-9, 4.24) wins when the Silver Shroud offense faces other low rotation starters. CL Billy Burian (30 SV, 2.53) had his best season so far in his three years in the bullpen.

Prediction

While Cambridge rode their opening upset to two more upsets on their way to the Sole Survivor Series, this Coursers team is not as good as that one in a parity season. Fort Hagen has had the most 4+-game winning and losing streaks on the season, so Game 1 is imperative that they succeed. We think the Silver Shroud will do that. Fort Hagen 2, Cambridge 0

NCA: #6 Sunshine Tidings (65-65) vs #3 Malden Grognaks (69-61)

Season Series: Malden 2, Sunshine Tidings 2

May 21-22 @Mal: Mal 2-1(10), Mal 8-1
July 26-27 @ST: ST 2-1, ST 6-3

Analysis

This series was even during the regular season with the home team winning all four games, three of which were tight games. Both teams, however, are missing some key players that makes both teams' playoff success in doubt. One of these teams has to win this series, so the question is which team is hurt most in their statistical output. Contributors missing:

Sunshine Tidings
SP Torcan Frawley (3-6, 5.62)
RP Boozy Bankman (0-0, 3.45)
RP Snappy Sloganman (0-1, 2.08)
2B Johnboy Zikmund (.296/27/86)

Malden
SP Ahsoka Tano (10-7, 3.11)
1B Lance Tinter (.252/8/30)
CF Floren Habern (.301/10/52)

From 2303-2311, Sunshine Tidings made the playoffs every season, winning the Institute League in five-straight seasons from 2304-2308. In that nine-year playoff run, their series records were: (#5) 0-1, #2 (0-1), #1 (0-1), #2 (1-1), #2 (0-1), #2 (0-1), #5 (0-1), #3 (0-1), #6 (0-1). They won ONE series in those nine seasons, their only playoffs series ever won. In that season in 2306, the Chemists swept Easy Town in the Semifinals and then got swept by County Crossing in the NCA Championship Series.

Malden is making its fourth-ever playoff appearance with its first three coming from 2315-2317. In those three seasons, the Grognaks have been much better than the Chemists in playoff success, going 0-1 in 2315, 1-1 in 2316, and 2-1 in 2317. Malden fell in seven games to Easy Town in the NCA Championship Series in each of 2316 and 2317.

The Chemists statistically should not be here. They finished 9th in runs scored (609) and runs allowed (656) thanks in part to going 22-16 in one-run games. With Zikmund (hurt just last week) out, the offensive production is expected to be much worse. 1B Charles Towner (.251/18/55) is now the homers leader, and 3B Down Home Dahl (.326/9/58) is the only qualifier hitting over .300 on the team.

On the mound, the staff is average, including the 6th-best Starters ERA (4.48) mark. All three playoff starters do have an ERA below that average, so they can hold teams down: Talley O'Reilly (14-11, 4.02), Eta Candy (8-6, 3.88), and McRicky McWilliams (3-10, 4.27). CL Ty Paterson (26 SV, 4.65) needs to pitch much better in save situations. He was tied for 3rd in the CBO in blown saves.

Malden is also average on offense (8th with 625 runs scored) but much better on the mound (2nd with 573 runs allowed). 3B Jacob Tarberry (.318/17/63) and 1B Jeremiah Stingwing (.308/18/60) have been offensive leaders. Stingwing is not even a qualifier with 315 ABs on the season, so his power production has been dynamic since replacing Tinter in the lineup.

The Grognaks finished 2nd in Starters ERA (3.72) but 11th in Bullpen ERA (4.87). Hry Caje (11-8, 3.34) has been excellent, but the loss of Tano two weeks ago has really hurt the chance for Malden to win it all. Beasty Boyd Hollen (9-15, 4.44) and Quincy Jones (10-1, 4.65) will be the other playoff starters. CL Rump Pellstilt (21 SV, 4.10) has not been the dominant force Malden needs.

Prediction

With this being the series of the walking wounded, we find it hard to predict what might happen. We think that the Grognaks are the more-talented team of the two, but losing a top pitcher and hitter in Habern is damaging. The Chemists are also without their top hitter, the only person on their offense that made it click. We think each team will steal a win, so this comes down to Game 3. Malden 2, Sunshine Tidings 1

SCA: #5 FHE Yao Guai (72-68) vs #4 Vault 81 Dwellers (73-57)

Season Series: Vault 81 7, FHE 3

May 12-14 @V81: V81 5-2, V81 8-3, V81 6-2
June 28-29 @V81: FHE 6-2, V81 6-5
July 18-20 @FHE: V81 3-2, FHE 6-2, V81 8-3
August 9-10 @FHE: V81 13-8, FHE 6-5(11)

Analysis

Before the 2310s, the FHE Yao Guai had appeared in the playoffs exactly one time, 2303. In the 2310s, they have now made the playoffs for the 6th time in the 10 years of the decade, this marking their first three-year stretch. In their now seven playoff seasons, two things FHE has never done is win the Railroad League (one of two teams--Cambridge--to never win their league) nor make it as far as the SCA Championship Series.

On the other hand, Vault 81 is making its 14th appearance in the playoffs, including their 9th in the 2310s (not n 2317). The Dwellers also appeared in two Sole Survivor Series, including winning it all in 2315. They have also won the RL six times, though they were not able to keep pace with Diamond City's quest for back-to-back championships this season.

In the season series, the Dwellers had most of the advantages, making the difference in their 2nd-place finish over FHE. Should the series reach Game 3, the most interesting of pitching matchups with Baker Dozen of FHE (1-0, 1.00 vs Vault 81) meeting Vault 81's Mirko Polanecky (2-0, 2.70) scheduled to meet.

The Yao Guai were a consistently good team throughout the season, finishing 4th in runs scored (642) and 3rd in runs allowed (570). 1B Bowen Marsh (.324/22/87) had the best all-around numbers, but 2B Phil Brodie (.340/15/85) and SS Brass Well (.331/10/68) also had excellent seasons. CF Missile Crews (.258/10/35/46 SB) may be showing his age, including finishing far below his career .312 average for the second-straight season and no longer a 20-HR hitter. However, he can get on base and extend bases to contribute more runs (80 in 2319) for the Yao Guai.

On the mound, FHE was 8th in Starters ERA (4.28) but 1st in Bullpen ERA (3.14). The top two starters, Dozen (7-4, 3.11) and Lane Phrasemaker (11-9, 3.82), were really good. Nien Nunb (12-9, 4.50) is OK as the 3rd starter. In the bullpen, CL Ryan Roberson (36 SV, 2.50) finished second in the CBO in saves behind the Swatters' Machine Beard.

For Vault 81, offense mostly powered their success to support an aging pitching staff. The Dwellers finished 2nd in runs scored (689) and 12th in runs allowed (635), calling into question their chance to get past Atom and the Swatters in the playoffs. On offense, RF Pockets Wrench (.287/33/97) led the CBO in home runs and may be the favorite to win his second-straight Nuka Hitter Award. 2B King Hippo (.337/22/69) and C Phantom Vargas (.303/21/77) also had great seasons.

For pitching, the Dwellers made a surprising decision to not start Lonely Gale (10-14, 5.22) after he could not hold teams down. That leaves Zack Million (12-9, 4.18), Polanecky (13-8, 3.64), and Exxie Summerset (10-10, 4.15) as playoffs starters. Million and Summerset are both 35 and apparently fading. CL Chunk Soopland (31 SV, 3.44) has been decent in the closer role for the team that finished 10th in Bullpen ERA (4.38).

Prediction

Neither team finished the season hot, both going 46 in their last 10. The Yao Guai went 32-21 (.604) in July and August, while Vault 81 went 23-30 (.434) in that same stretch. FHE moved up in the standings in that time. the Dwellers were four games up on Diamond City in the standings on July 1. These two teams are moving in opposite directions, and that is the major influence on this series despite the regular season result. FHE 2, Vault 81 1

SCA: #6 Egret Ninjas (71-59) vs #3 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (74-56)

Season Series: Jamaica Plain 3, Egret 1

June 19-20 @Egr: JP 4-1, JP 3-2(10)
August 11-12 @JP: Egr 9-5, JP 9-6

Analysis

Egret went 20-9 in August with Fort Hagen (21-8) being the only team that had a better month. One team that beat the Ninjas was Jamaica Plain, clinching the season series. Despite the 3-1 Rockets' advantage, the two teams seemed to be pretty evenly matched.

In their histories, neither team has particularly stood out. For Egret, this marks their 7th playoff appearance overall and their second-straight. Last season, the Ninjas fell to Jamaica Plain, 2-0, in the Wildcard Round. Their best success has been SCA Championship Series appearances in 2305 and 2309.

The Red Rockets are making their 13th playoff appearance and third-straight. Like the Ninjas, the Rockets have never appeared in the Sole Survivor Series with SCACS appearances in 2302, 2307, and 2312. After winning the Minutemen League in 2317, Jamaica Plain has finished in 2nd the last two seasons. Still, they are a title contender.

Egret finished in the middle of the pack statistically: 7th in runs scored (612) and 6th in runs allowed (586). 3B Shane Powers (.323/25/93) was the team Triple Crown winner and the only Ninja to bat above .300, hit more thatn 20 homers and drive in more that 70 runs. CF A-Train Gilmore (.255/13/49/69 SB) finished 2nd in the CBO in stolen bases (Eden Babz, 78).

Pitching was 6th in Starters ERA (4.22) and 2nd in Bullpen ERA (3.85). Starters Big Dog Monaghan (11-9, 3.60) and Jafar Khassanov (11-10, 3.98) both finished with ERAs below 4.00. Starters Mike Searocker (0-3, 6.87) and Diesel O'Neal (4-2, 3.31) would be starters in the playoffs, but they are both out for the season. It is suspected that Searocker, the 2318 Vim! Pitcher of the Year Award winner, entered the season injured, thus his poor performances in his three starts. CL Outie Lett (30SV, 2.87) was pretty good. RP Pin Tell (9-1, 1.32) sealed a lot of close games.

Jamaica Plain was OK on offense, finishing 5th in runs scored (530) but one of the better all-around pitching/defensive units, allowing the least runs (560). RF Kevin Cauthen (.313/8/79) and CF Jay Gabby (.310/18/77) led the team in average, while 2B Brandon Larsonist (.260/28/89) was the homers and RBI leader. Gabby (52) led the team in steals, followed by 48 by LF Campy Madrid (.298/2/54).

Despite being 4th in Starters ERA (4.12) and 3rd in Bullpen ERA (3.89) the Rockets were the best defensive scoring team thanks to the top defensive efficiency (.710). Ace Make Money (17-9, 2.90) is in contention for his first Vim! Pitcher Award at 30. Crash Cox (11-9, 4.08) and Kennett Kentucky (12-10, 4.68) can be decent but need a lot of run support. CL Swampy Tamragouri (33 Sv, 2.85) was pretty good, with additional support from RP Wizard Albutt (4-0, 8 SV, 0.84).

Prediction

Unlike the 3-6 matchup, we have a series of teams both looking better as the team progressed. The Red Rockets have been consistently good, with July (12-12) being their worst month. Egret has been hot and could be dangerous. However, we do not think things should go against the grain here. Jamaica Plain 2, Egret 1

Tough break for the Radscorpions. They had to be the one of the five not to make it. I think someone from the division will take it, just not sure who

CBO Playoffs 2319: Wildcard Round Results

NCA: Cambridge Coursers vs Fort Hagen Silver Shroud

Game 1: Fort Hagen 6, Cambridge 2

Sark Helps Fort Hagen Take Wildcard Round Game 1

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud got past the Cambridge Coursers by the score of 6-2 in the crucial first game of the Wildcard Round at Hubris Comics Park. Fort Hagen first baseman Innis Sark was 4 for 4 with 3 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2, to lead the charge. With a 1-0 lead, the Silver Shroud will have two chances to close out the Coursers.

Red Jay Jones, who finished 4th in the NCA in batting average with .345 in 2314, took Cambridge hurler Scooter Yaghmour deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Silver Shroud on top, 2-1. In all, Jones had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We don't have much margin for error now," Coursers manager Katt Daniels said. "We need to figure out the problem and fix it, immediately."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 2: Cambridge 7, Fort Hagen 2

Cambridge Win to Pull Even With Fort Hagen

The Cambridge Coursers defeated the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 7-2, in Game 2 of the Wildcard Round. Doing his part was starter Malik Watts, who threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The win moves Cambridge into a 1-1 tie with Fort Hagen in the series.

Quincy Craggs went 1-5 for Cambridge. With one out and the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Craggs had a clutch at-bat. Facing Fort Hagen hurler Hunter Kitchen, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Coursers a 3-2 lead.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Craggs.

The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 6th , 2319 at Cambridge Polymer Field in Cambridge.

Game 3: Fort Hagen 5, Cambridge 3

Silver Shroud Advance to Association Semifinal Round

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud were paced by a strong offensive output from Innis Sark as they downed the Cambridge Coursers 2-1 to win the Wildcard Round.

Fort Hagen won the final game by a score of 5-3 at Cambridge Polymer Field to send themselves off to the Association Semifinal Round.

"I wasn't so much focused on putting up big offensive numbers as I was about ensuring we won the games. So it's mission accomplished there," said first baseman Sark, who was named MVP.

For the series, the MVP hit .583 with a .615 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud will play against the Lexington Synths in the next round. Lexington had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.

NCA: Sunshine Tidings Chemists vs Malden Grognaks

Game 1: Sunshine Tidings 13, Malden 8

Road Win Lifts Sunshine Tidings to 1-0 Lead in WCR

The Sunshine Tidings Chemists powered past the hometown Malden Grognaks, 13-8, in the opener of the Wildcard Round at Unstoppable Park. Sunshine Tidings center fielder Taffy Dare went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the hosts. The Chemists now lead the series 1-0.

Down Home Dahl helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Chemists.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Dahl said. "We did a good job of that today."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Unstoppable Park in Malden.

Game 2: Sunshine Tidings 2, Malden 1

Sunshine Tidings Sweeps into the Association Semifinal Round

The Sunshine Tidings Chemists outclassed the Malden Grognaks in all facets of the game throughout the NCA Wildcard Round.

The end result was a Sunshine Tidings series sweep to advance to the Association Semifinal Round, capped off by a 2-1 win in the final game.

"We're a bit surprised it's over in a sweep, to be honest with you," said left fielder Pepper Spicer, who hit .455 in the series.

Spicer's standout effort garnered him MVP honors. He also put up a .455 on-base percentage and had 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 1 runs.

The Sunshine Tidings Chemists will play against the Easy Town Assaultrons in the next round. Easy Town had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.

SCA: FHE Yao Guai vs Vault 81 Dwellers

Game 1: FHE 8, Vault 81 7

Road Win Lifts FHE to 1-0 Lead in WCR

The FHE Yao Guai slipped past the Vault 81 Dwellers by the score of 8-7 at CURIE Inc. Field in the first game of the Wildcard Round. FHE had to overcome a strong effort from Vault 81 left fielder Hallinan Looney, who was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. With a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series, the Yao Guai will have two chances to close out the Dwellers.

FHE used the timely hitting of Duncan MacCready to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Yao Guai on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said MacCready.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at CURIE Inc. Field in Boston.

Game 2: Vault 81 4, FHE 1

Raucous CURIE Inc. Field Crowd Propels Dwellers to 4-1 Victory; Series Tied at 1

The Vault 81 Dwellers took down the FHE Yao Guai by the score of 4-1 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Wildcard Round. The largest share of the credit belongs to Vault 81 starter Mirko Polanecky, who threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball.

Pockets Wrench dealt the Yao Guai a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Vault 81 trailing 1-0, Wrench, who finished 2nd in the SCA in wins above replacement with 6.9 last year, hit a full count cutter for a 2-run double.

Vault 81 manager Darnell Bright commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at BosCom Circle in Fairline Hill Estates.

Game 3: FHE 6, Vault 81 5

Yao Guai Move on to Association Semifinal Round

The FHE Yao Guai and Vault 81 Dwellers didn't hold back anything in the Wildcard Round, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Association Semifinal Round.

FHE won the final game by a score of 6-5 at BosCom Circle and that concluded the series, 2-1.

The Yao Guai entered the bottom of the 9th trailing by 1, 5-4. Facing the Dwellers' Chunky Soopland, Missile Crews led off by drawing a walk. After a bunt foul and two more foul balls, FHE's Brass Well hit a 324 liner right down the left field line, walking off the game and series with a two-run shot.

"Relief is the biggest thing," FHE shortstop Brass Well said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Vault 81 deserves credit for the hard fight."

Pressed more about the homer, he responded. "Yeah. It was ****ing magical."

Well paced the FHE offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .429 with a .429 on-base percentage, 1 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The FHE Yao Guai will play against the Atom Cats in the next round. Atom had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.

SCA: Egret Ninjas vs Jamaica Plain Red Rockets

Game 1: Jamaica Plain 9, Egret 1

Wildcard Round Game 1 Goes to Jamaica Plain, Thanks to Kim

The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets powered past the visiting Egret Ninjas, 9-1, in the opener of the Wildcard Round at Red Rockets Stadium. Jamaica Plain first baseman Hax Kim was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 4 and driving in 2, to lead the charge. The Red Rockets now lead the series 1-0.

In the bottom of the second, Jamaica Plain catcher Fuzzy Russianhat had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Russianhat stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 2-0, Jamaica Plain. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 3 runs.

Said losing manager Matt Ballhawk Getman: "Give the Red Rockets credit. They played a better game than we did."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Red Rockets Stadium in Jamaica Plain.

Game 2: Egret 7, Jamaica Plain 2

Phantom, Ninjas Wallop Red Rockets in Game 2 of WCR

With right fielder Deez Phantom leading the charge, the Egret Ninjas got a road win over the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, 7-2, in Game 2 of the Wildcard Round. Phantom went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles at Red Rockets Stadium to help Egret force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 series.

Egret used a well-timed hit by Hugo Steadymaster to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Ninjas ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"It feels good to get this one," Phantom told the Egret Observer.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina in Egret Tours Marina.

Game 3: Egret 6, Jamaica Plain 3

Egret Moves on to Association Semifinal Round

Egret Ninjas won a nail-biting series against the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets 2-1, wrapping up the Wildcard Round finale 6-3 at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina.

Ninjas right fielder Deez Phantom was named the series MVP.

He batted .538, drove in 2 runs and scored 2 to lead Egret into the next round of play.

"Deez was real solid for us, real solid," said Ninjas manager Matt Ballhawk Getman. "I normally say I'd like to have nine of him out there, but thankfully we got by with just one this time."

The Egret Ninjas will play against the Diamond City Swatters in the next round. Diamond City had a bye in the Wildcard Round. The Association Semifinal Round schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Round finishes.

Glowing Sea's offense did not help much. In August they went 0-13 when allowing 5 or more runs. They were 11-18 in the final month. They scored 5 or more runs 10 times, going 6-4 in that stretch. Five of those wins came in the last week of the season when they proved to be out of the race already.

CBO Playoffs: Association Semifinals Round Preview

Overview

For the first time of the CBO playoffs expanding to six teams per association in the playoffs in 2310, both #6 seeds move on. This is in a season where earlier when asked Commissioner Jimmy LaRue had stated, "We have no plans to expand the number of teams in the playoffs next year or beyond. In fact, if I had my way, I would consider moving down to two wildcards, even zero. The regular season should mean something." The #6s have spoken loudly and clearly, Commissioner!

Now, we have two #6s, a #5, and a #4 taking on the best group of league winners we think we have seen in a long time. In fact, we would also not be surprised to see a #1 vs #1 (Lexington vs Atom) matchup for the third time in Sole Survivor Series history. The other two times were 2304 (County Crossing vs Roxbury) and 2315 (Lexington vs Vault 81).

At the same time, both #1s are facing teams, Fort Hagen and FHE, respectively, that they did not have success against. Only one hgher seed, #2 Easy Town, has had a winning record against its opponent, Sunshine Tidings. #2 Diamond City and #6 Egret were even in their season series.

Hold on to your trilbies, Wastelanders. These playoffs could get even more interesting!

NCA: #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud vs #1 Lexington Synths

Season Series: Fort Hagen 7, Lexington 3

April 7-8 @FtH: FtH 14-4, FtH 7-4
June 3-5 @Lex: Lex 5-4, Lex 8-4, FtH 10-4
July 24-25 @Lex: Lex 5-3, FtH 8-4
August 25-27 @FtH: FtH 18-6, FtH 5-1, FtH 10-4

Analysis

These teams last met in the 2314 playoffs as the #3 (FtH) vs #2 (Lex) seeds in the Association Semifinals Round, with the Silver Shroud taking that one, 3-1. It also marks the ONLY time these two teams have met in the playoffs before this season. Lexington's first trip to the playoffs was in 2313, so that makes sense. They are now here for the 6th time in 7 years with one trip to the Sole Survivor Series (2315). The Shroud are seeking their 5th Sole Survivor Series appearance (2299-2300, 2303, 2312) with their sole championship coming in 2312.

In the 2319 regular season, this was Fort Hagen's series. There were just two teams in the NCA that the Synths had a losing record against: the Shroud and Easy Town. That should scare fans who think that the Synths are championship bound in 2319. Lexington also went 1-2 versus Diamond City if looking at the series vs SCA teams still in the playoffs.

What should additionally give the Synths fans pause is that the Silver Shroud not only won 7 of 10 matchups, but they scored at least four runs in 9 of 10 matchups with the lowest output being three runs on July 24, a 5-3 loss. The Shroud also scored 10 or more runs four times.

Despite the lack of success versus Fort Hagen, Lexington's pitching was one of the better staffs in the CBO. In the NCA, the Synths finished 1st in runs allowed (563) and Bullpen ERA (3.76) and 4th in Starters ERA (4.09). Starters 2 and 3 in the playoffs, Saint O'Fender (12-7, 3.45) and 40-year-old Deedee Martinson (16-5, 2.76), had sub-4.00 ERAs. Martinson is in competition for his second Vim! Pitcher Award in three seasons. He does not age! Aaron Noluh (11-14, 4.06) struggled to keep run counts down. In the bullpen, C Hunter Kim (35 SV, 1.67) is the favorite to win the NCA's Fallon's Reliever Award.

Hitting has not been Lexington's strong suit, but they were better in 2319 than they had been in recent years. The Synths finished 5th in runs scored (638) despite being 10th in home runs (126). LF Dude Lebowski (.326/17/67) was the best all-around hitter and leader in average. CF Packs Ton Kling (.254/20/79/48 SB) was the leader in every other offensive category.

Prediction

What the Silver Shroud was able to do to Lexington in 2319 has been impressive, and we think that success will matter. Despite Fort Hagen not being regulars to the playoffs in recent years, the 2319 team is strong but streaky. Including the Wildcard Round, the Shroud have now won 9 of their last 11 games, including a three-game sweep over the Synths. We think that the team in orange is the more talented team but they are not the better team in this matchup. Fort Hagen 3, Lexington 1

NCA: #6 Sunshine Tidings Chemists vs #2 Easy Town Assaultrons

Season Series: Easy Town 3, Sunshine Tidings 1

June 17-18 @ST: ET 1-0(10), ET 4-2
August 13-14 @ET: ET 9-2, ST 9-1

Analysis

The Chemists enter this series with just their second trip to the NCA Semifinals in team history. Easy Town is here for the 4th time in 5 years with the exception being last season when they missed the playoffs. The Assaultrons also won their Semifinals Round matchups in all three seasons (2315-2317), making it to the Sole Survivor Series twice and winning it all in 2317.

The Trons also won 3 of 4 in the regular season in matchups where they should have most of the advantages. Easy Town's starting pitching, other than Astro Puptent's start, handled a few dangerous bats in the Chemists lineups. And, of course, the best hitter for Sunshine Tidings, 2B Johnboy Zikmund (.364/1/1 against ET) is not available for the series due to injury.

Easy Town is an offense first team, finishing 1st in runs scored (733) and four other offensive categories, including stolen bases (178). That's mostly because of Eden Babz (78) and Finnan Hunt (56). Babz (.358/25/109) led the CBO in 14 categories: average, RBI, SLG (.628), OPS (1.028), WAR (9.4), hits (176), runs (111), triples (14), TB (309), SB, XBH (69), OPS+ (159), WPA (5.51), and wOBA (.430). He will be a unanimous Nuka Hitter Award winner, his third overall.

On the mound, the Trons were 7th in runs allowed (632) mostly because of the 8th-best starters in ERA (4.53). Ace Cutter Redman (7-10, 3.53) was the only starter with an ERA below 4.00. Cohort Williams (12-5, 4.14) and Red Eagle (15-9, 4.54) will take up spots 2 and 3 in the playoff rotation. None of the 8 players in the bullpen had a good year, including both guys tried as the #4 starter on the year: Jeremy Wyckoff (4-10, 5.58) and Puptent (5-15, 6.42). Puptent went 1-4 with a 6.41 ERA since joining near the trade deadline from Oberland. Closer was also a problem with Shawn Dunn (23 SV, 4.98) being replaced late by Tee Browning (3 SV, 4.71). If there is a tight game late, Easy Town needs its offense to outpace the other team's offense. That means the Assaultrons would need a lot of late runs to win tight early games. That is not a Sole Survivor Series-winning formula.

Prediction

Easy Town appeared to be the best team in the CBO earlier in the season. At the end of June, they were 49-28 but went just 22-31 in July and August. The Chemists had a strong July (18-6) that made it possible for them to slip into the playoffs. They finished with the same record as the Trons in August (13-16). In the battle of talent, Sunshine Tiding's pitching staff may look better, but the juggernaut offense that is Easy Town is just too tough and we expect the Assaultrons to overwhelm Chemist pitching early and often. Easy Town 3, Sunshine Tidings 0

SCA: #5 FHE Yao Guai vs #1 Atom Cats

Season Series: FHE 3, Atom 1

April 26-27 @Atom: Atom 2-1(10), FHE 9-4
July 2-3 @FHE: FHE 15-5, FHE 13-10

Analysis

In their three wins over Atom in 2319, the Yao Guai scored 9, 15, and 13 runs. The Cats' Mesquite Williams (17-7, 3.61) went 0-2 with a 11.88 ERA in his two starts against FHE. Some Yao Guai hitters just went off against the Cats, including Phil Brodie (.526/1/4) in 19 at bats.

We noted in the Wildcard Round preview that FHE is making their 7th team appearance in the playoffs. Atom is now making its 11th appearance with the previous 10 appearances coming in runs of five years: 2301-2305 and 2313-2317. Last season, the Cats did not make it. This is the 5th time both teams are in the playoffs. In 2313, they met only once, in the Semifinals Round with the Cats as the #2 seed and FHE as the #3 seed. Atom won that series on their way to their only Sole Survivor Series win, 4-3 over Nahant, which was the only #6 seed to make it that far. The Cats would like the result of a win here to lead to the same final result.

Atom led the SCA in most offensive categories, including runs scored (722) and average (.287). All eight hitters in the lineup can hit well, with the lowest average being by SS Peter Pan Calvillo (.255/11/61). Four players hit above .500, and eight players hit 10 or more home runs. C Ramon Saldivar (.326/11/77) led in average and RBI, while RF Candy Kline (.325/16/69) was tied with SS Redeye Perez for the team lead in homers, and Kline led the team in stolen bases (29).

Pitching was a tale of two staffs for the Cats. They were 5th in runs allowed (585) thanks wholly to the Starters ERA (2nd at 3.82). The bullpen was 12th in ERA (4.58). Ace Josh Brown (15-9, 2.95) is a finalist for the Vim! Pitcher Award. K-9 Creep (11-6, 3.79), Williams, and Melvin Terminator (13-11, 4.27) all had good years. Terminator moves to the bullpen for the playoffs. Tuba Noza (27 SV, 4.60) was replaced as closer late in the season by Moby Dick O'Brien (2 SV, 3.86).

Prediction

While FHE took the season series, this Cats team looks to be the most-talented team. Atom did cruise into the playoffs once they clinched the #1 seed, including losing their last four games, so it will be interesting to see what they do if they get off to a slow start. The Yao Guai also were riding a four-game losing streak before beating Glowing Sea on the last day of the season and then handling an even colder Vault 81 team in the Wildcard Round. This series may be interesting, so we are going to pick it to go five with our gut stating the regular season series meant little. Atom 3, FHE 2

SCA: #6 Egret Ninjas vs #2 Diamond City

Season Series: Diamond City 5, Egret 5

May 12,14 @DC: Egr 5-2, DC 1-0, DC 5-4
June 28-29 @Egr: Egr 6-3, Egr 7-3
July 18-20 @Egr: DC 10-3, Egr 5-1, DC 5-4(10)
August 9-10 @DC: DC 5-1, Egr 7-6(14)

Analysis

A month ago, we would have guessed that Diamond City was well on its way to repeating as CBO champions. Now? Not so fast, my friends! The Swatters meet a team they split with in their 10-game season series, one of two teams they struggled to have a winning record against in the Railroad League. The Swatters went 4-6 against FHE.

Diamond City is also on its second seven-year stretch of playoffs in team history (2298-2304 and 2313-2319), totaling 14 years altogether. Last season was the third title for the Swatters, tying them with Roxbury for second all-time behind Nordhagen Beach (4). The Ninjas are here for the 7th time overall with this being just the second time the two teams are in the playoffs in the same season. Last season was the first time, with neither team ever facing each other in the playoffs.

The Swatters live and die with their starting pitching. Diamond City was 4th in runs allowed (572), inlcuding the top Starters ERA (3.75) and the 11th-best Bullpen ERA (4.51). Ace Macho Lopez (17-6, 2.98) is in contention for the Vim! Pitcher Award. Dropper Millieu (15-9, 3.47) had a good year, while Heaven Fontenot (5-5, 4.22) struggled at times after returning from injury. Dimman Dillon (14-10, 4.10) joins the bullpen for the playoffs, joining SP/RP Beachboy Nut (3-6, 5.51) in his final season and SP/RP Elastic Man Haley (5-1, 4.14). CL Machine Beard (38 SV, 3.33) was on a record-setting pace early in the season before blowing six saves from July 31-August 29. He had 31 saves by July 14, just 10 shy of the single-season high, but converted only 7 of 13 attempts after that time. He also saw his ERA rise from 1.24 on July 14 to the end 3.33. That drop could matter.

Offense finished 3rd in scoring (657 runs) with OBP being their best stat, 2nd at .344. Diamond City finished 13th in home runs (108) despite playing at a home run-friendly park for right-handed hitters and deep pull lefties. LF Ready Freddy Mobley (.317/14/58) did not get enough at-bats to qualify, but he was probably the Swatters' best hitter all-around. Five-time All Star, SS Alex Bragman (.300/18/80) led the team in homers and tied with RF Teng Dgebuadze (.288/16/80) in the RBI lead.

Prediction

The Ninjas have shown a lot of fight to get this far, and we think that they could be a formidable opponent to any team they face. Still, they are the sixth seed and have a tough job having to face a pitching staff good at keeping the run counts down. We think, however, that Egret could still an early game in Diamond City and make this a battle. In the end, we also think the defending champions know what to do in these situations. Diamond City 3, Egret 2

Season Pass Association

And that's all, folks.

The 2319 Season Pass Series is complete, ending the 19-year run of the Season Pass Association.

The Orange Tourists finished the year on a high note by winning the Season Pass Association crown.

The Tourists claimed the trophy with a 5-1 victory over the Grand Hotel Atoms to take the series 4-1. It was the first Season Pass Association title for Orange.

The winning manager, Late Night Whitaker, told reporters after the game, "I think the key to success in the playoffs is to get hot at the right time."

Orange previously won its 2nd league title to qualify for the overall crown.

During the South Bradberton Division regular season, the Tourists posted a record of 55-35 and wound up first in the standings.

Nuka News Update

Reporting on the NWL and APL

by Evan Guy

8 September 2319

The Orange faithful were cheering in the streets, and Victory fans wiping away the tears, after the Tourists won the Nuka Series at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA on August 31.

The Tourists clinched it by knocking off the Cave Crickets 8-5 to take their 2nd Nuka World League crown. Orange took the series 4-3.

"This club never gave up all year long," Orange manager Late Night Whitaker told the press. "They believed they could win the title and they did."

On the way to the Nuka Series title, Orange compiled a 55-35 won-loss record and finished first in the South Bradberton Division.

"We just didn't play well enough to win," Cave Crickets manager Cop Diaz said. "We just didn't make the big plays like they did."

APL Playoffs

With a 17-5 win over the Dunmore Ferris Wheels tonight at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA, the Junkyard Space Cadets wrapped up their 2nd title in team history.

Junkyard left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Space Cadets celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game.

"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Junkyard manager Brady Petropo. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void."

A jovial mood filled the air as Junkyard celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works.

"We're going to celebrate our team, our championship Junkyard Space Cadets," the mayor said.

The champions completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the APL North Division and a 34-26 record.

Atoms Sweep Gulpers

The Grand Hotel Atoms rolled over the National Park Gulpers 4-2 at Harbor Grand Hotel Grounds to easily win the 2319 Vim! Series crown on August 27.

Grand Hotel won in a walk and swept the series from the Gulpers 4-0. It was their 3rd championship title.

Winning manager Jason Porsche praised his own club as well as the opposition, calling the Gulpers "a fine team."

"It wasn't as easy as it looked. We had to play good baseball to beat them," he said. "We always seemed to come up with the key hit at the right time and to make the plays on defense when we had to. That's how you win the Vim! Series."

The Atoms took first place in the Vim! League Harbor Division and rounded out the year with a 52-38 record.

MDIL Playoffs

The Nucleus Radchickens ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Kitteredge Rad Rabbits 9-8 to win the Mount Desert Island Series.

Nucleus won the series 4-2, capturing the title for the 4th time.

"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Nucleus manager Paul Manchild. "It's a great feeling."

The champs finished the regular season 35-25 and claimed first place in the Small Bertha Division.

In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and first baseman Bally Crabtree said the Radchickens have "great fans and they deserve this. I am so happy for our fans right now."

CBO Playoffs 2319

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

CBO Playoffs: Association Semifinals Round Results

Well, this is awkward. For the first time in CBO history, an Association Round resulted in all sweeps. It had happened multiple times before in the Wildcard Round, especially in the seasons with only two wildcard three-game series. Let's see what those results look like heading into the Association Championship Series Round.

NCA: Fort Hagen vs Lexington

Game 1: Fort Hagen 9, Lexington 3

Silver Shroud Top Synths, 9-3, to Begin ASF

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud started the Association Semifinal Round in style, winning on the road against the Lexington Synths at Super Duper Mart Stadium by a score of 9-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Silver Shroud right-hander Hunter Kitchen threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball.

Fort Hagen used a timely hit from Innis Sark to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Silver Shroud ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Kitchen said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Super Duper Mart Stadium in Lexington.

Game 2: Fort Hagen 7, Lexington 4

Fort Hagen Hands Lexington 7-4 Loss

A sweep is in sight.

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud overcame a spirited performance by Lexington left fielder Dude Lebowski to knock off the Synths, 7-4, at Super Duper Mart Stadium in Game 2 of the Association Semifinal Round. Lebowski was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once but could not will the Synths to victory. Fort Hagen now sits on a 2-0 advantage and has its eyes on sweeping the best-of-5 series.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Red Jay Jones came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Lexington pitcher Surge Jowle, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fort Hagen on top, 4-3.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Jones, "and then get after it again."

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 3: Fort Hagen 5, Lexington 4, 10 inn.

Fort Hagen Advances to Association Championship Series

It's a sweet sweep for the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud and they have won the Association Semifinal Round. The Lexington Synths were not able to keep pace with the Silver Shroud and dropped the series in short order, losing, 5-4, in the deciding game.

"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Lexington manager Jon Castro.

Fort Hagen entered the bottom of the 9th trailing by a run. Dizzy Bass was walked by Lexington's Hunter Kim to lead off the inning. After a sacrifice bunt moved Bass to second, the Shroud's Rock Mobley tied the game with an RBI triple. He ended up stranded at third.

In the bottom of the 10th, the Silver Shroud struck the walkoff game and series winner. Lexington regular season starter, Hyand Lowe, came in as a reliever for the Synths. Nauseous Revere then led off the inning with a single. Blaine Stabb followed with a line drive off the right field wall, brining in Revere on the walkoff double.

It's now on to the Association Championship Series for Fort Hagen after their 3-0 series win.

Leading the way for the winners was left fielder Mobley, who was named MVP. For the series, Mobley hit .417 with a .462 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud will play against the Easy Town Assaultrons in the next round. Easy Town won their series against the Sunshine Tidings Chemists 3 games to 0. The Association Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal Round finishes.

NCA: Sunshine Tidings vs Easy Town

Game 1: Easy Town 8, Sunshine Tidings 6, 11 inn.

Babz Blasts Chemists, Assaultrons Take Game 1, 8-6

The Easy Town Assaultrons took the first game of the Association Semifinal Round in dramatic fashion, topping the Sunshine Tidings Chemists, 8-6, in an extra-inning walk-off win. Assaultrons center fielder Eden Babz went 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With two out, Babz hit a fastball from Jonathan Teagle for a 2-run home run. The Assaultrons, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Our team found a way to get it done," said Babz.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Easy Town Field in Easy Town.

Game 2: Easy Town 2, Sunshine Tidings 1

Easy Town Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair

A strong performance from pitcher Eta Candy was not enough for the Sunshine Tidings Chemists, who were stopped by the visiting Easy Town Assaultrons, 2-1, in Game 2 of the Association Semifinal Round. The Assaultrons never truly figured out the right-handed Candy, who threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Still, the Assaultrons now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-5 series.

In the bottom of the 6th, catcher Bill Barnes gave Easy Town the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Assaultrons had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out double off Sunshine Tidings pitcher Eta Candy changed that -- and Easy Town went on to win.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Sunshine Tidings manager Alfonso de Anda.

The next game is set to be played for Thursday, September 11th , 2319 at ArcJet Systems Stadium in Sunshine Tidings.

Game 3: Easy Town 10, Sunshine Tidings 5

Easy Town Takes Association Semifinal Round

After their 10-5 win today at ArcJet Systems Stadium over the Sunshine Tidings Chemists, the Easy Town Assaultrons will advance to the Association Championship Series. Easy Town won the series by a 3-0 margin.

Leading the way for the Assaultrons was center fielder Eden Babz, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP.

"I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus."

J.J. Gray earned Game MVP honors, going 2 for 5 with a home run, two runs, and four RBI.

The Easy Town Assaultrons don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lexington Synths - Fort Hagen Silver Shroud series. Fort Hagen leads the series 2 games to 0. The Association Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal Round finishes.

SCA: FHE vs Atom

Game 1: Atom10, FHE 1

Bingham Excels, Atom Wins Association Semifinal Round Game 1

The Atom Cats started the Association Semifinal Round in style, downing the visiting FHE Yao Guai at Coolest Field in Town by a score of 10-1 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Cats first baseman McMack Bingham went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4.

Bingham had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Cats went on to win.

"It's nice to see a lot of guys make contributions," said Cats manager Josh Mustang.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coolest Field in Town in Atom Cats Garage.

Game 2: Atom 5, FHE 2

Atom Pins 5-2 Loss on FHE

The Atom Cats moved to within one game of the Association Championship Series, downing the visiting FHE Yao Guai at Coolest Field in Town by a score of 5-2. Cats left-hander K-9 Creep had a strong outing in which he threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Cats a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Association Semifinal Round.

Atom center fielder Mogens Rideout helped the Cats go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Rideout hit a run-scoring single off FHE pitcher Lane Phrasemaker.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Creep.

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 10th , 2319 at BosCom Circle in Fairline Hill Estates.

Game 3: Atom 7, FHE 3

Atom Wins Association Semifinal Round

Mogens Rideout said he expected the Association Semifinal Round to be "a battle from start to finish."

In the end, it was nothing more than a minor skirmish, as the Atom Cats encountered little resistance in sweeping the FHE Yao Guai, to advance to the Association Championship Series.

"It may have been a sweep, but it still was a tough series," said Rideout.

Atom won the final game by a 7-3 count and were led in the series by Rideout, who was named MVP. On the series, he hit .538 with 0 home runs. He also drove in 4 RBI and scored 1 runs.

Mesquite Williams was named Game MVP after allowing two earned runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 7.1 innings pitched. He is now in a 19th-place tie for all-time postseason wins (8).

The Atom Cats will play against the Egret Ninjas in the next round. Egret won their series against the Diamond City Swatters 3 games to 0. The Association Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal Round finishes.

SCA: Egret vs Diamond City

Game 1: Egret 8, Diamond City 7

Swatters Hammered by Gilmore, Drop Game 1 to Ninjas

The Egret Ninjas started the Association Semifinal Round in style, winning on the road against the Diamond City Swatters at The Great Green Jewel by a score of 8-7 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Ninjas center fielder A-Train Gilmore excelled. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times.

Egret needed the clutch hitting of Pol Johnston to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ninjas on top, 8-7. For the game, Johnston had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Johnston said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Great Green Jewel in Boston.

Game 2: Egret 9, Diamond City 1

Blitzed by Palmer, Ninjas, Swatters Sink Further in ASF

Riding the 3-hit performance of second baseman Buns Palmer, the Egret Ninjas got a road win against the Diamond City Swatters, 9-1, in Game 2 of the Association Semifinal Round. Palmer was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Ninjas, who now lead the best-of-5 series, 2 games to 0.

A-Train Gilmore, the Egret center fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to make the score 3-0, Ninjas. For the game, Gilmore went 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Gilmore told the Egret Observer.

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 10th , 2319 at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina in Egret Tours Marina.

Game 3: Egret 7, Diamond City 4

Ninjas Dominate, Sweep Association Semifinal Round

The Diamond City Swatters were simply overmatched by the Egret Ninjas in the Association Semifinal Round.

The end result was a sweep, as Egret has cruised to the Association Championship Series, with the final win coming at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina by a score of 7-4.

Big Dog Monaghan allowed just three earned runs on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 7.0 innings to earn Game MVP Award. He is 2-0 in two starts in the postseason.

"We're clicking and running on all cylinders at the moment," said A-Train Gilmore, who was named MVP of the Association Semifinal Round. "We're a dangerous team when we play like this."

For the series, Gilmore hit .500 with a .571 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Egret Ninjas don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Atom Cats - FHE Yao Guai series. Atom leads the series 2 games to 0. The Association Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Association Semifinal Round finishes.

CBO Playoffs 2319

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

12 September 2319

CBO Playoffs: Association Championships Round Preview

NCA: #4 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud vs #2 Easy Town Assaultrons

Season Series: Fort Hagen 3, Easy Town 1

April 26-27 @FtH: FtH 8-6, FtH 12-6
July 2-3 @ET: FtH 4-3, ET 5-4

Analysis

This is Fort Hagen's 13th playoff appearance and Easy Town's 10th. Each team has won a Sole Survivor Series. In their histories, the Silver Shroud and Assaultrons are in the playoffs in the same year for the fourth time. They have met each time.

In 2298, the Trons topped Fort Hagen, 3 games to 1 in the NCA Championship Series in a battle of which team would be the first to represent the North Charles Association in the first year of the CBO.

The teams met earlier in the playoffs two other times. In 2300, it was the Association Semifinals, with the Shroud taking the series, 3-2. They last met in 2304 with Easy Town winning the Play-in Series, 2-0.

These two teams have also been two of the more successful teams in the history of the CBO. For Fort Hagen, they have appeared in four Sole Survivor Series with one victory (2312). The Shroud have been to the NCA Championship Series 7 times, going 4-3. Easy Town has appeared in three Sole Survivor Series with their lone victory in 2317. This is the 4th time they are in the NCA Championship Series with a record of 3-1.

The Silver Shroud won the first three regular season game before the Assaultrons captured a victory in the fourth and final regular season matchup.

Fort Hagen's Dizzy Bass hit .417 with a homer and two RBI. Innis Sark hit two home runs in the series, the only of eight Silver Shroud hitters who hit a home run to hit two or more. Halep Gutteridge, Bill Barnes, and J.J. Gray all homered for Easy Town.

The Shroud pitching did a great job against the probable Nuka Hitter Award winner, Eden Babz. Babz went 0 for 10 against Fort Hagen in 2319, something that is probably burning holes in his shoes coming into this series. Cutter Redman had the most succes for the Trons on the mound, going 0-0 with a 1.59 ERA in 5.2 innings.

Prediction

This is going to be a battle. Easy Town had the better record overall, but the Silver Shroud owned the season series. These are the two best hitting teams in the NCA, both with decent pitching staffs. In the end, we think the home-field advantage will make the difference on which team moves on to the Sole Survivor Series. Easy Town 4, Fort Hagen 3

SCA: #6 Egret Ninjas vs #1 Atom Cats

Season Series: Atom 3, Egret 1

April 24-25 @Atom: Atom 9-6, Egr 10-8(13)
July 5-6 @Egr: Atom 5-3, Atom 11-0

Analysis

Egret has been a nice underdog story so far, beating all odds in a tough association to emerge as the #6 seed into the SCA Championship Series where the #1 Atom Cats are waiting.

This is the Ninjas' 7th trip to the playoffs and the Cats' 11th. Atom was CBO champions once, in 2313. The Ninjas have never played in the Sole Survivor Series. The two teams have only been together in the playoffs once before, and they met that season. In 2305, Egret won the Play-in Series, 2 games to 1.

For each team, this is their third appearance in the SCA Championship Series. The Ninjas reached this level in 2305 and 2309, going 0-2 in those series. Atom was there in 2301 and 2313, winning both series on their way to the Sole Survivor Series. They lost the Series in 2301 but won the championship in 2313.

During the 2319 season, the Cats had the advantage in the season series, winning 3 of 4. Egret's one win was a 13-inning affair, showing that Atom is a tough draw.

Offense was not anything outstanding in the season matchups. SP Josh Brown (1-0, 0.00) dominated the Ninjas, pitching 10.1 innings of shutout ball. Egret's Shane Powers (.462/3/10) was the most impressive hitter in the season series.

Prediction

Atom has the better history and a better record in 2319, won the season series, and is better across the board statistically, except stolen bases and Bullpen ERA. Otherwise, Egret is a team coming up, while the Cats look like they are the team to beat in the playoffs as the CBO's top team. We think this will be a short series. Atom 4, Egret 1

Gray attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 16th , 2319 at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 3: Easy Town 7, Fort Hagen 3

Babz Blasts Silver Shroud, Assaultrons Take Game 3, 7-3

Riding the 3-hit performance of center fielder Eden Babz, the Easy Town Assaultrons got a road win against the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 7-3, in Game 3 of the Association Championship Series. Babz went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Assaultrons, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.

In the top of the 4th, Easy Town took the lead on a 2-run single by Red Eagle. At the time, the Assaultrons were trailing 3-2, but Eagle's hit with two outs against Fort Hagen pitcher Alex Mazique put them in front, 4-3.

"We played hard and won," said Babz. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 4: Fort Hagen 5, Easy Town 3

Raucous Hubris Comics Park Crowd Propels Silver Shroud to 5-3 Victory; Series Tied at 2

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud knotted up the Association Championship Series at Hubris Comics Park, thanks in large part to left fielder Rock Mobley. Mobley went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI as he overpowered the Easy Town Assaultrons, enabling Fort Hagen to grab the 5-3 win and move into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.

Blaine Stabb hit a 2-run home run off Cutter Redman in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Silver Shroud ahead, 5-3. In addition to the homer, Stabb had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"We ground out the win," said Stabb. "That's all that matters."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hubris Comics Park in Fort Hagen.

Game 5: Easy Town 9, Fort Hagen 3

Silver Shroud Hammered by Gray, Drop Game 5 to Assaultrons

Easy Town shortstop J.J. Gray was the key at Hubris Comics Park, as he powered the Assaultrons to victory in a critical Game 5 of the Association Championship Series. The Assaultrons took the 9-3 win over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

With Easy Town leading 6-1 in the top of the fifth, Astro Puptent hit a 2-run single off Fort Hagen pitcher Sappy Castro. It put the Assaultrons ahead 8-1.

"We came out aggressive," said Assaultrons manager Prince Arthur. "We came out swinging the bats."

Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday at Easy Town Field in Easy Town.

Game 6: Easy Town 8, Fort Hagen 6

Easy Town Wins Association Championship Series

After their 8-6 win today at Easy Town Field over the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, the Easy Town Assaultrons will advance to the Sole Survivor Series. Easy Town won the series by a 4-2 margin.

The Shroud's Red Jay Jones was named Game MVP in a losing effort. In the game, Jones went 4 for 4 with a walk, two runs, and an RBI. Halep Gutteridge drove in four runs for the Assaultrons.

Leading the way for the Assaultrons was center fielder Eden Babz, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP. In the series, Babz was 9 for 23 (.391) with three doubles, a home run, three walks, seven runs scored, and two driven in. He had seven stolen bases, including three in Game 2, tying the postseason record for steals in a game. He is the all-time steals leader in the postseason (37).

"I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus."

The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship Series finishes.

SCA: Egret Ninjas vs Atom Cats

Game 1: Egret 10, Atom 4

Powers Blasts Cats, Ninjas Take Game 1, 10-4

The Egret Ninjas started the Association Championship Series in dominant fashion, blowing out the host Atom Cats at Coolest Field in Town by a score of 10-4 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Ninjas third baseman Shane Powers went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.

Douglas, Massachusetts-born Buns Palmer came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the Ninjas trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Egret on top.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Egret manager Matt Ballhawk Getman told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coolest Field in Town in Atom Cats Garage.

Game 2: Atom 8, Egret 4

Ninjas Hammered by Bingham, Drop Game 2 to Cats

The Atom Cats defeated the Egret Ninjas, 8-4, in Game 2 of the Association Championship Series. Making an impact was first baseman McMack Bingham, who was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win moves Atom into a 1-1 tie with Egret in the series.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Mogens Rideout had a game-changing hit. The Cats center fielder slammed a 2-run double off Sugar Bear Myndee, making the score 7-4, Atom.

"We lost," Egret manager Matt Ballhawk Getman said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina in Egret Tours Marina.

Game 3: Egret 3, Atom 2

Monaghan, Ninjas Take Dramatic Game 3 for 2-1 Series Lead

The Egret Ninjas nearly wasted a strong game from starter Big Dog Monaghan, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 11th inning walk-off win over the Atom Cats today.

Monaghan pitched well in the 3-2 win at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win allowed Egret to seize a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 Association Championship Series.

Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 26-year old center fielder A-Train Gilmore had a real shot to win the game. Atom pitcher Melvin Terminator was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Gilmore hit a run-scoring single. The Ninjas had a walk-off triumph.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Gilmore.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina in Egret Tours Marina.

Game 4: Atom 12, Egret 5

2B Mayhew Lights Up Ninjas for 6 RBIs as Cats Tie ACS

The Atom Cats defeated the Egret Ninjas, 12-5, in Game 4 of the Association Championship Series. Making an impact was second baseman Lee Mayhew, who belted 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. The win moves Atom into a 2-2 tie with Egret in the series.

Mayhew had a consequential at-bat in the top of the fifth for the Cats. Coming up with runners on 1st and 2nd and Atom trailing 3-2, he hit a 3-run home run.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Mayhew. "And not try to do too much."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina in Egret Tours Marina.

Game 5: Egret 6, Atom 2

Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Ninjas, 6-2

Game 5 was big. So was Hub Purdue.

In leading Egret to a crucial 6-2 victory over the Atom Cats at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina, the Egret starter rose to the occasion, tossing 6 good innings. Purdue threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball as the Ninjas defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Association Championship Series.

Egret first baseman Plastic Augmon helped the Ninjas go up, 3-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Augmon hit a 2-run single off Atom pitcher K-9 Creep.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Purdue told BNN. "Whatever it takes."

The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 19th , 2319 at Coolest Field in Town in Atom Cats Garage.

Game 6: Egret 7, Atom 4

Egret Takes Association Championship Series

The #6 Egret Ninjas are riding high after knocking off the #1 Atom Cats in the Association Championship Series.

"We're feeling confident now and that's half the battle," said Shane Powers, who was named series MVP. "You play confidently, you play well and it shows up with results like this."

Egret won the final game by a 7-4 count at Coolest Field in Town and the series 4-2. The Ninjas' Beast Miranda was named Game 6 MVP after a 2 for 3 performance with a double, a walk, three runs, and two RBI. Powers drove in two more runs for Egret.

For the series, Powers hit .308 with a .333 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.

Since the beginning of August, the Ninjas have gone 29-12, by far the best record in the CBO in that stretch.

The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship Series finishes.

Sole Survivor Series 2319

BNN Report

News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

22 September 2319

Sole Survivor Series: #2 Easy Town Assaultrons (71-59) vs #6 Egret Ninjas (71-59)

Season Series: Egret 3, Easy Town 0

July 14-16 @ET: Egr 7-4, Egr 7-5, Egr 11-2

Analysis

Rinse. Repeat. CBO Commissioner Jimmy LaRue has recently cursed every top seed in the playoffs, noting how he considered reducing, instead of expanding, the number of teams in the playoffs. Well, last season's opening line in the Sole Survivor Series preview is now "expanded":

"For the second-straight season, we have a #5 vs #1 matchup in the Sole Survivor Series. Before that, it was #6 vs #3. That is a trend of three straight seasons where one team in the Sole Survivor Series had "road-field advantage" throughout the playoffs." Now, we are seeing the fourth-straight season of a #5 or #6 seed making it to the Sole Survivor Series.

Easy Town has the unique feature of being the first and only team to lose to a #6 seed, Quincy, in the Sole Survivor Series. They were also the only team to face a #6 seed. Now, they are the first team to face two #6 seeds in the Sole Survivor Series. The Assaultrons are also playing in their third SSS in three years, having lost to the Gunners in 2316 before beating Quincy as the Granites in 2317. After missing the playoffs last season, they are back. The Trons were also in the first official SSS in 2318, a loss to Goodneighbor in their only appearance.

The Ninjas do not have much to brag about when it comes to their playoff history. This is their seventh playoff history and first Sole Survivor Series appearance. Before this season, Egret had been to the SCA Championship Series just twice before (2305 and 2309), both losses to University Point. Now, they are just the second #6 in history to make it to the Sole Survivor Series, playing against a team in which they have the same record and swept the season series, 3 games to 0.

Easy Town has the better offense in this series by far. The Trons were the top scoring team in the CBO. Two factors were leading the CBO in triples (39) and stolen bases (187). Easy Town is good at getting on base, turning single bases into double and triple bases, and driving runs home. It all starts with superstar CF Eden Babz (.358/25/109/78 SB), now the all-time steals leader in postseason play, thanks a lot to his team making its third Sole Survivor Series since he arrived as the 4th overall pick in 2311. He was also a rare CYL to CBO positional player. 1B Donnie Gray (.268/18/72) and SS J.J. Gray (.319/15/73) help to make a tough middle of the order for the Trons.

Easy Town's pitching was not as successful, finishing 18th in the CBO in runs allowed. Ace SP Cutter Redman (7-10, 3.53) was decently successful in his first full season with the Assaultrons after a 2318 trade with Glowing Sea. Red Eagle (15-9, 4.54) benefitted from run support. The third starter, Astro Puptent (5-15, 6.42) is a continuing void in the back half of the rotation. Tee Browning (3 SV, 4.71) is now the closer after Shawn Dunn (23 SV, 4.98) struggled in the role. In all, the Trons need good hitting and their top two pitchers to hold down the Egret hitting.

The Ninjas' hitting is not anything great, finishing 15th in scoring in the CBO. However, when they faced the Assaultrons, Egret went off scoring 25 runs in three games, including SCA Nuka Hitter Award candidate, 3B Shane Powers (.323/25/93) going off with a .462 average, two homers, and nine RBI in the three games. He was the SCA Championship Series MVP. Outside of Powers, Egret had good hitting throughout most of the lineup, with tthe emergence of 2B Buns Palmer (.332/11/37), a trade acquisition from Easy Town in the offseason, who started most of his 53 games started in early June through the end of the season. He took over for sometimes starters, Tuft Davis, Plastic Augmon, and Timon Blades, offering a surge to the offense.

Egret's pitching gives them an even better chance than the offense, 9th in runs allowed. In the SCA, they were tops in FIP (4.00) and WAR (20.4). The top two starters, Big Dog Monaghan (11-9, 3.60) and Jafar Khassanov (11-10, 3.98) can dominate at times. Hub Purdue (8-12, 4.90) can sometimes hold down the fort but just has to be better than Easy Town's Puptent if they face off. The bullpen was very good, but RP Pin Tell (9-1, 1.32) and CL Outie Lett (30 SV, 2.87) were great. Tell is considered a finalist for the Fallon's Reliever Award.

When comparing the lineups expected for Game 1, it appears that the Trons should have every advantage in a spot vs spot analysis. Easy Town has the better offense by far, though Egret's depth is impressive in comparison. Scouted talent may be one thing, but both offenses can go off regardless of the scout number next to their names in the scouting reports. Pitching favors Egret, but the Ninjas may not have all of the advantages with Khassanov expected to get the Game 1 start vs Easy Town's Redman. In an ace vs ace matchup, as we'll see below, that would be a different story for each starter.

The position vs position matchups look this way with a change in just naming the expected starters for the first three games in direct competition. These are based on OSA scouting ratings only, not 2319 productivity. Easy Town vs Egret in order of players:

Game 1 SP: Cutter Redman < Big Dog Monaghan
Game 2 SP: Red Eagle < Jafar Khassanov
Game 3 SP: Astro Puptent < Hub Purdue
Top RP: Shawn Dunn < Pin Tell
CL: Tee Browning < Outie Lett
C: Bill Barnes > Hugo Steadymaster
1B: Donnie Gray > Deez Phantom
2B: Finnan Hunt > Buns Palmer
3B: Halep Gutteridge > Shane Powers
SS: J.J. Gray > Joe Bureau
LF: Joey Bell < Pol Johnston
CF: Eden Babz > A-Train Gilmore
RF: Slammin' Sammy Holloway > Beast Miranda

Prediction

With both teams finishing 71-59, we actually have a different tale to tell. Should the teams have switched associations, we are convinced that the Ninjas would have been the #1 SCA seed, while Easy Town may have missed the playoffs entirely. It is a similar situation as it appeared last season, too, when everything seemed to align for Cambridge to defeat Diamond City. That did not happen. Egret won all three games at Easy Town during the regular season, which seems to mean that one team may actually be better than the other. The Trons know how to win, though, and they can score a crazy number of runs. In all six of their playoff victories in 2319, the Assaultrons have scored 7 or more runs. Egret has done that in 6 of their 9 victories, including all three against a much more dominant pitching staff, the Swatters. We see the patterns now in what we think will be a high-scoring series. Easy Town is good and will fight, but we think that the Ninjas are no longer a secret about how good they can be, the CBO's best since the start of August. Egret 4, Easy Town 2
