All-Star eligibility - how does the AI determine this?
Specifically for starting pitchers.
There are several notable omissions on the computer generated list to pick from. Sure, I could use the manual selection, then I'd have to pick the entire All-Star team and don't want to do that. I'd just like the guys who are 3rd and 4th in ERA for starters to be able to be voted on the team. There are players who have fewer innings pitched and starts that are on the list, so it's not that they are ineligible and they have been on the same team the whole time, so it's not like they've split time between leagues, which I guess I could see as a reason for exclusion. Devs: Any way for me to edit this so that they are on the list as they should be? Robert, help!

When you go to the manual all-star selection, the CPU-picked teams are there.
You can remove and replace the players you want, or you can remove all players and start from scratch.

Yeah, hate to "force" them on to a team - would much rather vote and see how it shakes out. Guess that's a last resort unless Matt or someone else can guide me here.

I have struggled with how All-Star pitchers are selected, and it turns out the top 3 vote-getting starters are automatically selected, no matter how terrible they are. So yeah, when I am playing a serious sim I end up having to select the pitchers. |

Isn't there a way to turn off popularity as a factor. that should free up some spots for merit-based choices. Same with ensuring each team doesn't get a rep (in case it is on).

Doesn't matter. I have seen pitchers with a higher popularity get fewer votes than a pitcher with a lower popularity who is also having a worse season. It doesn't seem to be deterministic enough to trust blindly by turning a few knobs. |

Only semi-related, but I recently had a closer that wasn't good enough to win reliever of the year, but was apparently good enough to win pitcher of the year instead.
That one made me shake my head a bit. (small league, short schedule weirdness, I let it slide) |

Played a couple of days with this off (was "low") no change, they still aren't offered.
