Why am I getting the "These players are no longer eligible"

I never got this before in any previous versions. EVERY time I start a new season, somewhere along the way, early on, I get the "Players A,B, C, D and E are no longer eligible for 'X League'"

It is usually from A+ ball and below, but I had it happen with AA once.

It is a real annoyance and I can't figure out why they are no longer considered eligible.

ANY help would be appreciated. Thx.

Are you playing a standard game? Some of the minor league levels have service time maximums. It is either this, they are above the max age for your minor league club, or a foreign player on a minor league that only allows certain types of players

Don't think AA has a limit, but it's 5 years for A+, 4 for A, 3 for R (+ no foreigners for DSL)

Yes, it's pro years or age. Not sure when this was added but I think it was v26, at least I never saw it before that. Listing the players is a nice addition. It would be nice if the report listed the reason(s) the player is ineligible.

I wish there was a way to manually run it for any league you choose, whenever you want to do so. Either manually put in the selected leagues upcoming start date or have OOTP just read it from the events. The problem "as is" is it gives you this list on opening day and you are scrambling. If a user could run it before FA, January, or whenever it would make planning ahead a lot easier.

Thx

I am playing the Pirates with some mods.

I am in year 3 and this popped up. It never did before. Any way to turn it off?

Thx for the reply. So there is no way around it? I have to live with it? Why would they add something that you can't toggle on and off like the 5/10 rule and other stuff.

Age and service limits can be changed at any time on the league rules tab.

If you go to the top of the screen where it shows the league drop down menu (it will probably be showing "MLB" since you play the Pirates) - hit the drop down arrow for MLB and change the league to whatever minor league you're having the issue with. Once you did that, then go to league settings menu and from there the rules menu and you'll have the option to either completely turn it off, or to adjust it to a high enough limit where it won't cramp you down.

As md40022 said you can turn it off or make it what you want. No worries there, it's OOTP.

Here is what I am seeing. What do I turn off or adjust to a high enough limit? It looks like '0' gives me unlimited?

Thx very much for your reply.

AAA and AA do not have any limits set by default.

A+ and down do.

5 service years for A+
4 for A
3 for R

Its also a good method to use to make sure your lower leagues don't get loaded down with old talent. I use it as a check. When I get the message it means I didn't pay close enough attention to the rules and now I need to go look at that player and either move him up to a level he is eligible for, or just cut him loose. I find that it helps me keep my minors rosters at a reasonable level. I mean if a guy has accumulated that much service time and I haven't noticed he is good enough to promote it's probably time to cut him loose.

Yes. I've been notorious for letting my guys age a bit too much down in the minors. I always like to get some fringe-MLB talent that are veterans on my AAA roster knowing I'll need them as depth for the big-club during the season. Guys in their late 20s, maybe even an early 30 or two, who have some MLB experience. On my end that sometimes turns into a domino situation where a few AAA get bumped down to AA, and a few AA guys get bumped to A+, etc... So I actually like that this rule was incorporated, whether it was in 26 or 27. It kind of serves as a reminder for me to go through those rosters and get rid of the dead wood..... the warning prompt for me might as well be, "hey dummy, you've got some old guys on your single-A team - fix that."
