Both for him and Bobby, the IRL talent - which was there but, you'll admit, fairly one-dimensional for both - didn't seem to translate to their OOTP versions for this save. Neither was terrible, but Bobby's glove didn't seem right, and Johnny similarly gave back a lot in the field of what he put in at the plate (-35.7 ZR). Which caused a really lean period for us while they were in action. No disrespect meant to their legendary status in the RSN pantheon.

As for Teddy, who is my favourite white player of all time, Yaz will have to be extra special to not seem like a step down. I guess that's how it was IRL for the poor bugger.

I'm even willing to sacrifice our 1959 by playing TSW everyday to increase his chances of passing the Babe in HR, although I know the 650 or so he'd end up with have little chance of surviving the pill-poppers down the track.

Given the premise of this exercise, to have the guy the save is named after overhaul the guy that wrecked the franchise would be poignant indeed.

Historical minors is not for the faint-of-heart, even more so when you have strict eligibility-related house rules in place like I do.

Not sure how others out there try to keep track of all of their players and prospects, but I rely on good old Microsoft Excel to maintain mine.

I'll usually set up my AAA as an AAA+ squad that I lock in place. These are guys ready to go but squeezed out for now.

The overflow and longer-term hopes go to AA and are also locked there, with fringy guys tracked but left to float about the system at the whim of the AGM, to whom I entrust control of promotions and demotions throughout the season.

Just thought some of you following along might find this of interest. Here's how the main squad and prospects group look at OD, 1960.
