Statement on PT Moderation
Hello, everyone. We wanted to address some of the concerns raised by the community from last night regarding moderation.
The Moderation Team is overseeing all aspects of Perfect Team to maintain a balanced playing field, among other things. This is a major responsibility by the team, which they take very seriously. The team also has a variety of ways to enact penalties, so they can vary based on the violations of our Terms of Service. While some penalties may go unnoticed (e.g. no access to Card Shop, Clubhouse, Achievements, etc.) others are clearly visible (e.g. team name and/or logo change, no access to tournaments and drafts, removal from PTCS, etc). The team thoroughly researches the violations to apply appropriate actions when detected and/or reported by the community. Some violations take time to investigate, while others get swift action. Investigations occur frequently, and the vast majority are conducted without the community being aware. We want to communicate to you that the violations that arose again last night were handled in a manner that the team felt was appropriate for the behaviors of those accounts. We don’t normally reveal actions taken and against whom for a variety of reasons. However, we will reveal some things to you here. Following our first tournament data dump, several members of the community approached us with some details that appeared to be a violation of TOS; spamming tournaments in order to lose on purpose, known as “tanking.” We needed time to verify the violations, so an investigation started. It took longer than expected because more accounts were discovered, and we had to verify the links between them. Once we had a clear picture of the amount of accounts, the violations and severity, the Moderation Team put together plan to penalize the offenders. Some of these penalties included and weren’t limited to removal of records and prizes, bans from tournaments and drafts, restarting at the bottom of the league pyramid with PP achievements turned off, bans from PTCS and PTMS, among other things. While a permanent ban didn’t apply to all of the accounts involved in this instance, the player became severely hampered for an extended period. They’re also aware that another violation would result in a permanent ban. Repeated violations are taken even more seriously, and have stricter penalties, including permanent bans. Through this process, the player requested a username change, and the Moderation Team granted it. We get this request a lot from members of the community and we generally oblige. We did know that in this instance, he would have all of his data linked between his old username and the new one, and we wanted to maintain that transparency. That happens for anyone who requests a username change. We give our community the data to analyze all aspects of the game, so they can learn, compete and have fun. We’re very proud of that, and the effort our community members put into it. As we mentioned earlier, we take repeated violations very seriously. This player created another account while serving the penalty. This is a violation of our TOS, and can be found under section 4 – Use of Perfect Team Mode: (n) Ban you from the creation of any new accounts if your existing or inactive account is/has been subject to discipline for violating any portion of this agreement. This player has now become a repeat offender, and permanent actions have been taken against all of the accounts. Like you, we get very frustrated with cheaters in our game. Cheaters have been very creative through the years, and many accounts have been penalized and/or banned. We ask for your patience, as it takes time to evaluate and investigate violations. We do our best to moderate our game, and welcome any in-game reporting and tips that could help the Moderation Team. Thank you.
