I sold Whitey Ford and put a nibble out for a player then this morning I bought Whitey Ford back and he was put on a 14 day hold...WHY ?

Because it's the same card ostensibly that you're trying to put back on the roster; selling a card and buying another copy is treated pretty much the same as sending a card to the reserve roster and trying to bring him back right away. He's gotta go through the cooldown.
