Happy Opening Day! Excited to see how the new expansion teams do. Might be a tough one for the Radscoprions as they don't seem too interested in improving the lineup. At least not much depth should've kept them mostly unscathed in the expansion draft lol

April 2320
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 12 April 2320 Atom with Best Start; NCA Looks Balanced The Atom Cats are the team with the best start, while their fellow Minutemen League mates, Quincy, has the CBO's worst record with just one win. Providence has been the best of the expansion teams, starting out at a CBO-best 6-1 before dropping their last two. Cape Cod has lost a CBO-worst seven straight. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Atom Cats (148.0, o) 2) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (129.1, ++) 3) Lexington Synths (127.1, ++) 4) Vault 81 Dwellers (125.1, ++) 5) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (124.1, --) 6) The Slog Ghouls (124.1, ++) 7) Concord Radstags (122.1, ++) 8) FHE Yao Guai (121.1, ++) 9) Providence Super Mutants (121.1, -) 10) Oberland T-51s (103.1, --) 11) Southie Brews (103.1, ++) 12) Egret Ninjas (102.1, ++) 13) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (102.1, ++) 14) Salem Witch Hats (102.1, ++) 15) Malden Grognaks (100.1, --) 16) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (100.1, ++) 17) Goodneighbor Hancocks (80.9, +) 18) Cambridge Coursers (79.9, ++) 19) County Crossing Bloodbugs (79.9, --) 20) Bunker Hill 75ers (77.9, ++) 21) Easy Town Assaultrons (77.9, --) 22) Far Harbor Fog (77.9, --) 23) Roxbury Rad Sox (77.9, --) 24) Starlight Killers (77.9, --) 25) Nuka World Thrills (74.9, --) 26) Nahant Celtics (57.9, +) 27) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (57.9, --) 28) Diamond City Swatters (55.9, +) 29) University Point Deathclaws (54.9, --) 30) Spectacle Island Reapers (52.9, --) 31) Cape Cod Mirelurks (28.0, --) 32) Quincy Granites (11.0, o) Brotherhood League The Slog has a one game lead over Salem, Nordhagen Beach, and Malden. Easy Town, Far Harbor, and County Crossing are two back, while Nahant takes up the rear at three back. No team in the NCA has better than a 6-3 record or worst than a 3-6 record. For the Ghouls, winning is an expectation. After winning the Sole Survivor Series in 2314, The Slog has missed the playoffs two of the past five seasons. That includes last season when the bottom fell out on the way to a 59-71 finish, their words season since 2311. This season, the Ghouls have started out fast, thanks in part to scoring runs and holding their opponents down. The Slog is tied for 2nd in runs scored (43) and 4th in runs allowed (29). For hitters, SS Zap mast has started out hitting .333 to lead the team 2nd in team average (.268). LF Hammer Longball (.219/3/9) leads in homers and RBI. On the mound, SP Buzzcut McDonald (3-0, 1.64) has had an excellent start, winning all three times he started a game. The starters have the best ERA (2.47) with Maverick Rizzy (0-1, 2.31) and Chemmix Tailorman (1-0, 2.63) also below 3.00. Institute League With a four-game winning streak, Lexington is now tied with Concord atop the IL. Fort Hagen is a game back as the only other team above .500. Bunker Hill, Starlight, Nuka World, and Cambridge are all two back in a tie for 4th place, while Sunshine Tidings is alone in 7th. The Chemists are expected to be one of the best teams in the CBO this season, a step up from being the 6th seed in 2318. Instead, they are off to a poor start in all areas of the team. Sunshine Tidings are 12th in runs scored (29) and tied for 10th in runs allowed (39). One player not struggling is 2B Johnboy Zikmund (.406/3/9). Rookie LF Pepper Spicer (.270/2/4) has also contributed on offense. On the mound, ace McRicky McWilliams (0-2, 6.88) has struggled. Second-year pitcher, Eta Candy (2-0, 2.63) has been the best pitcher. Minutemen League As mentioned, the Cats are the CBO's top team at 7-2, while the ML is also host to the two worst teams in the CBO. Jamaica Plain is a game back of Atom, followed by Southie at two back. Goodneighbor is alone in 4th place at 4-5, while University Point and Spectacle Island are each tied for 5th. The Mirelurks and Granites round out 6th and 7th place. The Cats are absolutely dominating on the mound, giving up just two runs per game (18) to lead in runs allowed and Starters ERA (1.95). Offense is tied for 3rd in runs scored (42). 3B Zeke Zoonatik (.345/1/5) is the team leader in average, with RF Candy Kline (.270/3/8) is the homers and RBI leader. The top three pitchers all have an ERA below 3.00 with K-9 Creep (1-1, 1.20) and Melvin Terminator (2-0, 1.12) with ERAs below 2.00. Railroad League This is the one league without a solo 1st place team at nine games into the season. All of Vault 81, Glowing Sea, Providence, and FHE are tied at 6-3. Oberland and Egret are each a game back, with Roxbury two back, and Diamond City in last place at three back. The Swatters have bee successfully, including winning the Sole Survivor Series just two seasons ago, on their dominant starting pitching. While the pitching staff is not doing that bad, tied for 5th in runs allowed (28) and 5th in Starters ERA (2.91), the offense is extremely poor. Diamond City is dead last in the CBO in runs scored (14 or 1.56 per game), 8 back of the next worst team, Spectacle Island. LF Ready Freddy Mobley (.323/1/5) is the only player hitting above .300. The return of SS Alex Bragman (.300/0/0) should help. But the rest of the offense has been atrocious. On the mound, everyone but ace Macho Lopez (0-2, 4.24) have an ERA below 4.00. Fourth-starter, Buffalo Jung (2-0, 1.20), has been the best and has two of the Swatters' three wins. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 12 - Paul Stains capped off a phenomenal week on the hill by nailing down North Charles Association Player of the Week honors today. The 31-year-old Witch Hats hurler tossed a total of 18 innings last week, collecting 2 wins, 21 strikeouts and a 0.50 earned run average. he has pitched a complete game in all three starts. Comparisons: 2319 NCA LgAvg = .269 2320 NCA Lg Avg = .231 2319 NCA LgERA = 4.50 2320 NCA LgERA = 3.73 2319 SCA LgAvg = .266 2320 SCA Lg Avg = .227 2319 SCA LgERA = 4.25 2320 SCA LgERA = 3.43 The current averages represent the lowest in CBO history. There was only one other season where league ERAs were below 4.00, 2316. I think I changed the historical year to 1994(?) during that season. The settings show 1998 as the historical season, but it also shows thes as the expected league average: .270/.336/.424. Hopefully that evens out over the course of the season. There are some great hitters with stupid averages currently: 3B Jacob Tarberry - .145 (Career = .311) 2B Jack of Diamonds Cordero - .205 (Career = .311) C Red Jay Jones - .229 (Career = .335) CF Pro Jabonete - .205 (Career = .320) 3B Miko Miko - .208 (career = .314) Some good hitters are hitting well, so I have no idea why. If I don't see improvement, I guess I tweak for 2321. Glowing Sea is not even last in their association in average (14th at .202), but FIVE players in the lineup are still batting below .200 with one more at .200.

April 2320
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 26 April 2320 Malden Takes Top Spot The Malden Grognaks have taken over the CBO's top record, winning seven-straight to get there. They now have a half-game lead over Atom as these two teams have leads in their associations. As one of the coldest teams in the CBO, the expansion Cape Cod Mirelurks hold the top spot in the 2320 Draft as we approach the end of the first month of the 2320 season. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Malden Grognaks (145.9, ++) 2) Atom Cats (139.5, +) 3) Southie Brews (127.1, -) 4) Vault 81 Dwellers (123.1, -) 5) Diamond City Swatters (115.8, ++) 6) Salem Witch Hats (108.8, ++) 7) Lexington Synths (107.4, -) 8) Cambridge Coursers (99.1, ++) 9) FHE Yao Guai (98.1, -) 10) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (97.1, --) 11) Starlight Killers (94.0, --) 12) Egret Ninjas (92.0, ++) 13) Concord Radstags (91.0, -) 14) Nahant Celtics (89.7, ++) 15) Bunker Hill 75ers (89.0, +) 16) Oberland T-51s (88.0, ++) 17) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (87.0, --) 18) Roxbury Rad Sox (84.7, --) 19) Providence Super Mutants (81.7, +) 20) The Slog Ghouls (81.7, --) 21) Far Harbor Fog (77.9, ++) 22) Easy Town Assaultrons (77.3, o) 23) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (77.2, ++) 24) Quincy Granites (76.6, ++) 25) Spectacle Island Reapers (76.2, --) 26) County Crossing Bloodbugs (75.9, --) 27) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (74.9, --) 28) University Point Deathclaws (74.2, --) 29) Goodneighbor Hancocks (70.6, -) 30) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (70.6, +) 31) Nuka World Thrills (58.5, --) 32) Cape Cod Mirelurks (40.1, -) Brotherhood League At 9-1 in their last 10 and winners of their last seven, the Grognaks have powered their way to a 3.5-game lead in the BL, the largest league lead in the CBO. Salem is the only other team above .500. The Slog and Nahant are both a game below .500, with County Crossing and Far Harbor two games under. Easy Town is a half-game back of them, and Nordhagen Beach is a half-game back of the Trons. Malden does not exactly look the part, but despite being 13th in batting average (.225), the Grognaks are able to produce runs (97 for 4th in the NCA). 2B Jack of Diamonds Cordero (.205/6/8) is among the league leaders in home runs. Five other players have hit at least three homers apiece to rank Malden 3rd in homers (28). On the mound, the Grognaks are 1st in runs allowed (60), along with being 2nd in Starters ERA (2.82) and Bullpen ERA (2.15). Three starters have sub-3.00 ERAs: Quincy Jones (2-1, 2.41), Beasty Boyd Hollen (4-2, 2.45), and Vault Boy Barnette (5-0, 1.67). CL Alphabet Abdelnaby (10 SV, 0.82) leads the CBO in saves. Institute League The IL is tight in the top six spots with all teams 3.5 games within 1st place and the top five spots each two games within 1st. Lexington is the current king, leading both Cambridge and Fort Hagen by a game. Concord is alone in 4th with Starlight and Bunker Hill tied for 5th. Sunshine Tidings and Nuka World round out the league standings. The Thrills are trying to find their footing in their debut season, but they have found the going tough. They are not bottom rankers, but just do not have enough oomph to win regularly. Nuka World is tied for 10th in runs scored (85) and 9th in runs allowed (87). Rookies, LF Lip Durocher (.307/4/14) and 1B Cone Chek (.329/2/15), have been pleasant surprises. C Malificent Shaw (.362/3/9) has seemed to have reignited his career at 36. Mound work could be better but both rookie SP Gussy Ridel (1-3, 2.65) and former Ninja, SP Sheldon Mayoral (3-3, 2.87), have pitched well. Hangman Alley (0-3, 6.66) may be done. Minutemen League With an 8-2 mark in their last 10 and a five-game winning streak, Atom is just behind the Grognaks and Diamond City as the CBO's hottest team. Hot on the Cats' trail is Southie, going 703 with a three-game winning streak. Jamaica Plain is 5.5 back, with Spectacle Island and University Point both six back. Goodneighbor and Quincy are tied for 5th, with the Mirelurks all alone in 7th. Cape Cod, like Nuka World, is trying to find its footing but has not yet figured out how to win on a 2 out 5 rate that they hope for. In their case, offense is a problem, currently 16th in runs scored (57) and 15th in the SCA in average (.202). Rookie 1B Phil Curnew (.281/6/12) is hitting well. C Timelord Marvel (.261/3/9) is the only other hitter on the team hitting .250 or above. Pitching is 12th in runs allowed (86). SP La'Ray Kalel (2-2, 2.17) is another former Silver Shroud (Nuka World's Shaw) reviving his career. Rookie SP Matthew Mainstreet (0-3, 3.44) is holding his own but will not be the long-term ace. CL Charlie Rose (3 SV, 0.00) has not had many pitching opportunities, but he has been perfect so far. Railroad League What once was a hot start, sharing the CBO's top record, has turned into a race to the bottom for Providence. They are now tied for 6th in the RL. Vault 81 is currently in 1st. The Swatters, who were in 7th in the last update, are now on a seven-game winning streak, pushing them two back of the Dwellers. FHE is in 3rd with all of Glowing Sea, Oberland, and Egret in a tie at .500. The Super Mutants are tied with Roxbury at a game under .500. For Vault 81, dominance is no longer in their vocabulary. Very good still is, despite some flaws in execution. The Dwellers are 3rd in runs scored (93) but tied for 10th in runs allowed (84), despite a decent 6th ranking in ERA by starters (3.37). RF Pockets Wrench (.373/7/17) may be the early Nuka Hitter Award winner in the SCA, looking to match his 2318 honor. Three starters currently have a sub-4.00 ERA: Mirko Polanecky (2-2, 3.05), Francisco Araiza (4-1, 2.41), and Zack Million (3-1, 3.21). CL Lonely Gale (6 SV, 7.36) seems to be struggling in his new role from starter to closer, but 5 of his 6 runs allowed in eight appearances came in one game against FHE. He has allowed one earned run in his last five appearances, picking up four saves in that time. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week April 19 - It was an extraordinary week for Scott Eacott of the County Crossing Bloodbugs. First he goes on a hot hitting streak, batting .414, then he is voted the Player of the Week in the North Charles Association. Last week Eacott went 12-for-29, racked up 4 home runs and 9 RBIs and scored 7 runs. It was a heck of a week for the County Crossing center fielder. Eacott is currently batting .328 with 5 home runs, 10 runs scored and 12 RBIs. His OBP is .358. One of the league's most exciting young players, Ditcher Doyle Cobbler of the Southie Brews earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 23-year-old center fielder had a lofty .435 average (10-for-23), collecting 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Thus far this season, Cobbler has hit .356 with 8 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 18 times. April 26 - Lexington sports fans can't stop singing the praises of McGrath Maguire, who has been selected the North Charles Association Player of the Week. Maguire was in a comfort zone all week, finishing with a .500 average (11-for-22), 4 RBIs and 3 home runs. This year, Maguire is batting .393 with 11 hits, 3 home runs, 4 RBIs, 2 walks, .433 OBP and has scored 8 runs. Mikita Sato is respected by most Southie Brews fans for his no-frills style of play. The 26-year-old third baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .412 average (7-for-17) with 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 5 runs scored. So far this year, Sato has 5 home runs and a .314 batting average. CBO Noteworthy News April 13 - BNN is reporting a rumored trade between the County Crossing Bloodbugs and Malden Grognaks has been finalized. The deal, which is expected to be announced sometime during the next few hours, will reportedly send 27-year old RHP Alphabet Abdelnaby to Malden in return for 23-year old minor league RHP Mutt McArthur and 19-year old minor league LHP Parker Christie. The clubs were noncommittal on the trade, but did not deny it. This season, in 5 relief appearances, Abdelnaby has rung up 5 saves. He has 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in 4.2 innings while registering a 0.00 ERA and a 0-0 won-lost record. Opposing teams have hit .118 against him. April 18 - The Nahant Celtics have parted ways with 22-year old minor league C Waldy Poleska in a trade with the Quincy Granites for 27-year old RHP Mel Stud Quijas. Celtics general manager Olivares confirmed the deal in an announcement this morning. During this season, he has made 6 relief appearances, earning a 0-0 record with no saves. In 6.2 innings Quijas has struck out 6 with a 0.00 ERA. April 20 - What a day for Bill Lazarus. The 33-year-old The Slog center fielder reached the 2000-hit mark today and the Ghouls whipped the Cambridge Coursers 5-3. Lazarus told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 2000, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball." Lazarus is the 21st player in CBO player to earn 2000 hits. He is next closest to Nick Maris, who finished with 2026 career hits. He went 2 for 3 in the game to reach the milestone. Looking at his career numbers, Lazarus has played in 1756 games with a .286 batting average. Among his 2001 hits are 412 doubles, 75 triples and 81 home runs. He has also scored 1017 runs and driven in 619 runs. April 21 - Homm Betazed's bat has been smoking lately, and it continued today as he went 1-for-2 in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Bunker Hill 75ers at The Cauldron at Gallows Hill. The 25-year-old shortstop has now hit safely in 20 consecutive games for the Witch Hats. Homm Betazed walked in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a two-run double in the 7th. This year, Betazed has hit at a .365 clip with 23 hits, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 10 runs scored. April 22 - Cambridge Coursers starter Toon Alljet said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move. "I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Alljet recalled. The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career. The Cambridge right-hander no-hit the The Slog Ghouls, 3-0, at Tarberry Field Forever, finishing with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts, facing only 31 batters. "I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Alljet admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too." April 23 - It was the best of both worlds for the The Slog Ghouls at Tarberry Field Forever, as they defeated the Salem Witch Hats, 13-3, and also snapped Homm Betazed's 20-game hitting streak. The 25-year-old Salem shortstop failed to get a hit in 2 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Betazed, we just wanted to win the game," said Ghouls skipper Melvin Ceja. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Betazed frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." This season, Betazed is hitting .354 with 23 hits, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs, scored 10 runs and played in 19 games. April 26 - Acknowledging that it may not be the biggest splash, the Fog announced today that they have acquired 26-year old minor league RHP Kit Kauffman and 23-year old minor league LHP Stair Oydz from the Cape Cod Mirelurks in exchange for 23-year old minor league 3B Shaq McNeal and 22-year old minor league C Arturo Mortensen. "Every little bit helps," announced the Fog, "this deal should improve both squads."

May 2320
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 May 2320 The May 1 Super Post, Part 1 CBO Top Performances Hitter - In a month where pitching ruled, one batter stood out most in his performance. On April 4, Roxbury's Kevin Deux-Gas had the top day of the month, scoring 88 points to top three others at a game score behind him. In an 8-0 victory over Spectacle Island, Deux-Gas went 3 for 3 with a double, a home run, two walks, three runs, and four RBI. Pitcher - Before the month ended, there was an obvious winner: Toon Alljet's no-hitter on April 22. And then, six days later, a new winner emerged. On April 28, the Rad Sox's rookie Howard Chalmers pitched the second no-hitter of the month, topping Salem in a 2-0 win. In the complete-game affair, Chalmers not only allowed no hits but also walked none and struck out 10 Witch Hats. The only thing preventing the third perfect game in CBO history was a 1st-inning error that allowed Homm Betazed to reach when Honer Trinkl mishandled a ground ball hit to him. Tommy Beach pitched the first perfect game in 2299 and Jaa Thirtysix pitched the second one in 2314. Chalmers now has the 28th no-hitter in CBO history. CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Eden Babz, the Easy Town center fielder, certainly made a name for himself this past month. He banged out a .419 batting average with 36 hits, 8 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 26 times. That kind of hitting earned him the North Charles Association Batter of the Month honors for April. SCA Hitter - Ditcher Doyle Cobbler may be much younger than other hitters in the South Charles Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in April to win the Batter of the Month award. The 23-year-old Southie center fielder hit .305 with 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and 22 runs scored. NCA Pitcher - Paul Stains of Salem excelled on the mound in April with a 6-0 record and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the North Charles Association. Stains restricted opposing batters to 33 base hits and a .158 batting average. He rang up 66 strikeouts in 61 innings of work, surrendered 10 walks, and fashioned a 1.92 ERA. His breakout month featured a .340 average with 7 home runs, 21 RBIs and 9 runs scored. PL Pitcher - When Springfield relief specialist Skips Miranda came into the game, it was as good as over. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in April, as he hit .417 with 11 home runs, 33 RBIs and 24 runs scored. The end result was the right fielder being named the South Region Batter of the Month. This season, Fogcrawler has hit 20 home runs and posted a .403 batting average. NR Pitcher - In April, when the name of Killian Alchemist appeared on the Plum Island lineup card it was a virtual lock on a victory. He started 8 times and chalked up 7 wins and 1 loss. With those stats it was also a virtual lock that he would be named the North Region Pitcher of the Month. Alchemist shackled opposing batters on 52 base hits and a .220 batting average. He rang up 70 strikeouts in 61.2 innings of work, surrendered 19 walks and fashioned a sparkling 2.77 ERA. This year, Alchemist has posted a record of 10 wins and 1 loss with a 2.68 ERA. He has appeared in 12 games and struck out 112 in 94 innings. SR Pitcher - The #1 pitcher this past month in the South Region was Rizz Chippada of the Attleboro Deejays. He worked the hitters over real good, finishing April with a superb 6-0 record and a 0.93 ERA. The Deejays star made 7 starts and surrendered 31 hits in 58.1 innings. He struck out 63 and walked 25. This year, Chippada has a 9-0 record with a 1.09 ERA in 11 starts.

May 2320
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 10 May 2320 Malden, Atom Distance Themselves from Pack The biggest story right now is the pitching phenomenon in an expansion season. The CBO has now seen FOUR no-hitters, as we will cover in the Noteworthy News section below. That number has already surpassed the CBO record of three set in 2299 and tied in 2312. As a side note, Baker Dozen, who was one of the three in 2312, is one of the four in 2320. he matches Derek Green as the only player with two no-hitters. Dozen is the SCA Player of the Week. In the standings, both the Malden Grognaks of the NCA and the Atom Cats of the SCA are beginning to look to be the definitive powerhouses of the CBO. The Grognaks are five games better than the next-best tram of their association, the Cambridge Coursers, while the Cats have a four-game advantage over the Swatters. In the race for worst place, the Cape Cod Mirelurks are three games back of Nuka World. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Atom Cats (135.9, +) 2) Malden Grognaks (133.5, -) 3) Diamond City Swatters (116.1, ++) 4) FHE Yao Guai (106.8, +) 5) University Point Deathclaws (105.1, ++) 6) Cambridge Coursers (103.8, +) 7) Southie Brews (102.8, --) 8) Vault 81 Dwellers (102.7, +) 9) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (101.7, ++) 10) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (98.6, --) 11) Egret Ninjas (97.2, -) 12) Goodneighbor Hancocks (95.5, ++) 13) Salem Witch Hats (95.1, --) 14) Easy Town Assaultrons (93.0, ++) 15) Nahant Celtics (90.3, ++) 16) Lexington Synths (89.2, --) 17) Concord Radstags (89.0, o) 18) Oberland T-51s (88.0, --) 19) Bunker Hill 75ers (86.8, o) 20) Roxbury Rad Sox (84.8, +) 21) Starlight Killers (84.8, -) 22) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (84.4, ++) 23) The Slog Ghouls (83.8, --) 24) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (81.3, -) 25) Spectacle Island Reapers (79.4, +) 26) County Crossing Bloodbugs (76.4, --) 27) Glowing Sea Radscorpions (72.2, o) 28) Providence Super Mutants (69.4, --) 29) Far Harbor Fog (67.0, o) 30) Quincy Granites (64.8, -) 31) Nuka World Thrills (59.5, o) 32) Cape Cod Mirelurks (44.7, o) Brotherhood League Malden leads Salem by six games, seeing that gap widen by two games in the last 10 played. Those two teams are the only above .500 in the BL. Easy Town is the only other team besides the Grognaks to go over .500 in their last 10 and now are at .500 on the season. Nahant, The Slog, Nordhagen Beach, County Crossing, and Far Harbor round up the rest of the BL standings. The Party Boys have won five-straight to escape 7th place, following a five-game losing streak before it. For the expansion Fog, 2320 is supposed to be a rough season. Many thought they may end up being the 32nd team in the standings to complete 2320, and that could still be the case. As it stands now, though, Far Harbor only trails Providence in the expansion standings. Both the offense and defense are 16th in runs scored (115) and allowed (157), though, which is indicative that they will finish below their current .400 winning percentage. A few outstanding players have been LF Paydirt Wynter (.343/7/15), third-overall pick in the 2319 Rookie Draft 1B JaRussell Marcus (.239/7/13), SP Arriba Clement (1-2, 2.59), SP Sluggo Pyne (5-4, 3.93), and CL D.C. Washington (9 SV, 1.46). Institute League The IL remains jumbled with pretty much every team but the Thrills in the 1st-place running. Cambridge is in 1st by a half-game over Fort Hagen, which has lost four straight. Lexington has gone 3-7 in their last 10, tied with Far Harbor for the worst stretch in the NCA and with three other bottom dwellers in the SCA. Sunshine Tidings is two back, Concord is 2.5 back, and Starlight and Bunker Hill are 3.5 back. Nuka World is 7.5 back but already considered out of the race. Cambridge may or may not be a good team capable of winning the Sole Survivor Series , but they are currently in the best position in the IL. The Coursers are 5th in runs scored (139) and tied for 5th in runs allowed (127). 2B Arbor Creek (.312/6/28) has been the team's best hitter. On the mound, SP Scooter Yaghmour (4-3, 2.61) and rookie SP Toon Alljet (2-3, 2.05) have been outstanding. Minutemen League The Cats have the CBO's best record at 24-9, thanks to being tied for second in the CBO by going 7-3 in their last 10. Atom has yet to lose three-straight on the season. Southie is in 2nd at 4.5 back, but fell back by three games after going 4-6. University Point is the CBO's hottest team, going 8-2 in their last 10, to push themselves into 3rd place. Goodneighbor rounds out the teams above .500 with an 18-17 record. Jamaica Plain is nine back, while Spectacle Island is 9.5 back. Quincy and the Mirelurks round out the standings in the ML. The Brews have been solid on offense, ranking 1st or 2nd in every offensive category, including runs scored (166) and home runs (46). CF Ditcher Doyle Cobbler (.285/10/25) is second behind Egret's Shane Powers (13) in home runs. Cobbler leads the team in average and homers and is tied with RF Clean Blake Dean (.280/7/25) for the team lead in RBI. On the mound, Southie is tied for 8th in runs allowed (128), thanks in part to the starters being 14th in ERA (4.05). Ace SP Jobe Christie (5-2, 2.67) has been the most outstanding pitcher. The Bullpen ERA (2.57) is 2nd in the SCA, though CL Boots Echenstein (8 SV, 4.15) is struggling. Railroad League With a five-game winnings streak, 6-4 in their last 10, and 15-4 in their last 19, the Diamond City Swatters have taken over 1st place in the RL and the second-best record in the SCA. They were in 7th-place before their nine-game winning streak in April. Vault 81 and FHE are each a game back. Egret is alone in 4th place as the last team above .500 in the RL, followed in an incremental game back each by Oberland, Roxbury, and Providence. Glowing Sea is a half-game back of the Super Mutants. Providence has flirted with being above .500 but are now four games below that mark and likely to continue to move downward in the standings. Offense has been a bit better than expected, ranking 11th in the SCA in runs scored (116) and 7th in average (.229). LF Forrest Carvalho (.273/1/11) is the leader in average. LF owen Meredith (.190/4/10) is the leader in home runs, and 1B Hunter Lacoste (.242/3/14) and one of the Meng brothers on the team, Prax Meng (.265/2/14), lead in RBI. Meng is out with an injury, while his brother, Frak Meng (.500/0/0), is earning some playing time. The Super Mutants are 16th in runs allowed (157) and Starters ERA (4.35). SP Meshawn Sutu (3-4, 2.38) has been the best pitcher with rookie and ace, StLee Jensen (3-4, 3.80), next in ERA. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week May 3 - Rookie 21-year-old A'Trey-U Jones made a few Salem headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and North Charles Association officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 9 hits in 21 at-bats to put up a .429 average. Jones collected 6 home runs, 7 RBIs and scored 8 runs. To date this year, Jones is batting .242 with 12 home runs. One of the league's most exciting young players, Shane Powers of the Egret Ninjas earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games. For the week the 24-year-old third baseman had a lofty .429 average (9-for-21), collecting 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and 7 runs scored. Thus far this year, Powers is hitting .275 with 12 home runs, 32 RBIs and 20 runs scored. May 10 - What a performance by Clownie Blammo of the Cambridge Coursers! The catcher really tore up North Charles Association pitching and easily claimed the Player of the Week Award. The 31-year-old hit .429 with 4 home runs and 7 RBIs. For the week he was 9-for-21 and scored 5 runs. Batting .206 to date, Blammo has 4 home runs and 13 RBIs. FHE Yao Guai pitcher Baker Dozen was as hot as a firecracker last week, making him the most recent recipient of the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He blistered and burned batters on his way to a 2-0 record in 16 innings, registering a 1.12 ERA. Dozen had 9 strikeouts and held the opposition to a .115 average. In 9 starts this season, Dozen has fashioned a 6-0 record and a 2.16 ERA. CBO Noteworthy News April 28 - The Roxbury Rad Sox relied on no-hit stuff from starter Howard Chalmers to defeat the Salem Witch Hats, 2-0, at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury. "It's quite a thrill," Chalmers told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it." To get his name logged in the South Charles Association records, he stopped Salem cold and hitless, surrendering no walks and fanning 10 of the 28 batters he faced. Roxbury manager Hannes Koellerer was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Chalmers "made managing easy today." "I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter." So far this season, Chalmers has a 4-1 record, 6 starts, 40.1 innings, 35 strikeouts and a 3.79 ERA. April 28 - A spokesperson for the Nuka World Thrills today confirmed that Hangman Alley will not be back next year. The Thrills starting pitcher has decided to retire. To date in his career, Alley is 122-123 with an ERA of 4.61 and 1342 strikeouts. May 1 - Plucky Epperson extended his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games in the 5-2 University Point triumph over the Cape Cod Mirelurks. The 24-year-old Deathclaws first baseman collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats. "Of course it's going to end," he said. "I'm just enjoying it until then." Plucky Epperson singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. Thus far this year, Epperson has hit .364 with no home runs and 10 RBIs. May 2 - Nothing could stop rookie A'Trey-U Jones -- certainly not the Far Harbor Fog pitching staff. The 21-year-old first baseman for the Salem Witch Hats sent four baseballs soaring out of Fog Park and made his name a part of history. It is the 6th time in CBO history that a player hit four homers in a game. Behind his barrage, the Witch Hats earned a win, 5-1, over the Fog. "In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Fog manager Scam O'Ohoh said later. "He clobbered us." Jones's dream game included 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 homers, 4 runs driven in and 4 runs scored. "I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Jones told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys." A'Trey-U Jones hit a solo-shot off Arriba Clement in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Arriba Clement in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Legs DiCocco in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Lucedes Windwhip in the 8th. This season, Jones is batting .242 with 23 hits, 12 home runs, 19 RBIs, 11 walks, .327 OBP and has scored 22 runs. He has played in 27 games. May 2 - It was a special day at Third Rail Stadium for Goodneighbor's Emperry Alizm. The Hancocks ace logged his 250th career win against the Reapers. In the 8-4 decision Alizm tossed 7 innings, surrendered 6 hits with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. "I'm real fortunate that I had the opportunity to play with such good players during my career," said Alizm. "I just couldn't have drawn it up any better. I'm glad I did it in this uniform, too. Goodneighbor is a great organization to play for." Alizm has a won-lost record of 250 wins and 194 losses with 3051 strikeouts and a lifetime 3.74 ERA. He is third all-time behind Beachboy Nut (303) and Derek Green (260) in career wins. May 3 - Oberland and Atom made a trade today. In this move, the T-51s shipped 32-year old LF Foo Fieterz to the Cats for 23-year old minor league 1B Dorek Lesniak and 21-year old minor league LF Thunder Bassett. The Oberland GM told reporters, "I think this trade is beneficial to everyone involved, including the players." For the year, Fieterz has hit .218 with 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and scored 13 runs. Lesniak has put up a career batting average of .279 with 138 hits, 18 homers and 73 RBIs. May 4 - Spectacle Island and FHE have agreed to a trade today. 23-year old LHP Paul Bird will go to the Yao Guai. In exchange the Reapers will receive 23-year old minor league LF Cliff Booth, 19-year old minor league 1B Arfi Arrington, 19-year old minor league RHP Fergus Tal-Shachar, and a 1st round draft pick. This season, Bird has 1 win and 3 losses and a 5.65 ERA. May 7 - The Nahant Celtics were just hoping for a solid outing from Emanuel Dougherty. Instead, they got something special. The 24-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Salem Witch Hats, helping the Celtics take the 10-0 win. "I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Celtics. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special." Dougherty's repertoire has a cutter, changeup, and slider, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Salem hitters off balance all game long. The Nahant hurler fanned 12 and walked 1 in his history-making performance. "His cutter looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Salem manager Nick Radio joked after the game. His record this season is 2-5 in 8 starts and Dougherty has a 5.85 ERA. May 8 - FHE Yao Guai first baseman Duncan MacCready will retire at the end of the season, according to reports out of team headquarters. MacCready, 39, has been considering retirement since last season sources say, though he has declined to speak publicly about retirement. "Duncan still likes baseball," one source said, "He wants to play, but he also knows he's getting up in age and the skills are not what he wants them to be. He says it's physically getting harder to go out there every day. That's why he's hanging up his spikes." Lifetime MacCready is batting .293 and has totaled 148 home runs. May 8 - Plucky Epperson of the University Point Deathclaws tagged 1 hit in today's 6-4 loss to the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at Hallucigen Stadium at UP to run his hitting streak to 25 straight games. "I realize it's unlikely to have a 25-game streak and not have a couple losses mixed in," he said later. "But it still takes the fun out of it." Plucky Epperson flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th and grounded out in the 7th. Epperson is swinging at a .346 pace on the year with no home runs, 10 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He has played in 31 games. May 8 - It was a terrific day for Baker Dozen of the FHE Yao Guai at BosCom Circle. The right-hander stood out with a fantastic 5-0 no-hitter against the Egret Ninjas. "I knew I had a no-no going in about the sixth inning when I noticed no one was talking to me anymore," he said, referring to the time-honored superstition of avoiding the pitcher so as not to jinx the no-hitter. "Don't let people fool you. Everybody on the field and in the ballpark knows what's happening. They just pretend they don't." For the game, Dozen totaled 4 walks and 6 strikeouts in a very strong outing. "His mechanics were perfect, and I don't think he threw one bad pitch in the whole game," FHE manager Cozy Burmaster said. "He was that good." BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, CCBL, and CYL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 12 May 2320 CYL Regular Season Ends: Plum Island, Plymouth Top Seeds For the majority of the Commonwealth Youth League ballclubs, they will have to wait until next year to make the playoffs. They missed their chance this year and will be spending the offseason living the good life and also getting ready for next year, when hope always springs eternal. But for a few select teams, they are still in the hunt. They have made the playoffs. This is their day in the sun. This is their chance to win league championship. This is their moment of fame and glory. This is their chance to win the Youth Series.
