In a master class of power boxing, current WBC SMW champ, David Benavidez, put on quite a show easily taking the belt via a UD from Adonis Stevenson - all 3 judges had the fight 147-133.

Taking place in the Bell Center in Canada, David dropped Adonis 4 times (combo in the 9th, cross & hook in the 13th, another combo in the 14th).

David landed 398 shots (39%) to 179 (15%) from Adonis.

Adonis is now 22-2 (20 KOs) at 175 - his other loss to Dmitry Bivol also by UD but David's win was much more impressive & thorough.

Anthony Joshua made his 5th title defense with a 1st round blowout combo at 2:04 of fellow Brit & big puncher - Fabio Wardley.

I even used Ice Tea's updated rating of Fabio - a 7.

AJ's now 21-0 with 19 KOs.

In what appeared to be a dominating performance from Steven Nelson, the American took the title via a MD over Alem Begic in Germany: 145-139, 145-140 & for some odd reason the Thai judge had the fight even at 142.

Nelson dropped Begic for 8 in the 11th from a hook & an uppercut cut sent Alem to the deck for 9 in the 12th.

Nelson also won PL - 310 (25%) to 252 (17%).

The UK's Scott Fitzgerald got a 2nd crack at a world title after a previous title shot (Abass Baraou for the WBA) ended in the 10th due to a cut. Scott lead on 2 of the cards & was tied on the 3rd card.

Bud Crawford moving out of the 154 pound division lead to this vacancy & the WBO tabbed former WW champ, Boot Ennis, as the other fighter for the vacant belt.

For the 1st 4 rounds both fighters gave as good as they received. Then in the 5th, Boots took it to another level putting a real beating on Scott & a combo dropped the Brit for a 3 count.

Boots went out to finish matters in the 6th & ended it at 2:54 with a right hook.

Boots was up on all 3 cards: 48-47, 48-46, 49-45.

Ennis also up on PL: 135 (32%) to 126 but Scott landed an astounding 61% of his punches.

Making his 1st defense, Xander Zayas was able to convince IBO champ, Jermell Charlo, to come to Puerto Rico due to the intense fan interest.

In a fight that lacked big fireworks & one that Jermell seemed to control in most exchanges, Zayas was able to eke out a SD with Dave Moretti having the fight 143-142 & R. Maldonado 146-140 - both for Xander while Duane Ford had Charlo up 145-140.

Jermell won PL: 318 (27%) to 227 (26%).

JC drops to 22-2-1 (8 KO's) - his other loss years ago due to a cut before he won the IBO belt - having made 11 title defenses.
