it's just relative to the pack itself. within the pack, all golds have one rate, all diamonds have another (which is x% of golds), and perfects have another (which is a lower y% of golds)

Ah, OK, I will stop spreading false truths about the spotlights. I think the main takeaway from these, though, is that they do not guarantee a Perfect like a Perfect Pack, so they cost less, but since they could (about 11-15% chance), they are not cheap either.

For the Speaker Spotlight, the odds are fairly simple: 25% chance of Perfect, 75% chance of Diamond. Lots of really memorable players in this set for those of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s. I actually got the Rookie Dave Smith already, from ripping my 500th standard pack. Also love seeing there's a Big Hurt on the list. I bought a First Baseman's glove for little league because Frank the Tank was my favorite player.

OK, I think I am getting it now. I bought a Speaker Spotlight and pulled:
96 OVR - Pete Donohue, SP
90 OVR - Tommy Bridges, SP

So best I can derive from my single data point is that the pull is a step function. The sum of the percent of each tier (perfect, diamond, gold, etc.) is the chance of getting cards at that tier (for Speaker packs, it was 25% perfect, 75% diamond), then the multiplier is the number of those cards in a pack at that given tier (again, for the Speakers it meant either 1 perfect or 2 diamond). The chance of getting any individual card (like a 90 ovr Bridges) is the x1 percentage (Speakers: 1.56%), but the odds of getting any individual card increase as you go down-tier because you are getting multiple cards. In another post, one of the OOTP guys said they use expected value as a basis for pricing, which makes sense if you increase the number of cards at a tier as you go down-tier. Therefore, if a generous whale gave me enough PP to buy 10,000 Speaker Spotlight packs, I would expect to have 313 Tommy Bridgeses, and 156 Frank Thomases.

My Speaker pack also came with four historical irons, two of which were the same card.

I pulled that Mike Schmidt from a Standard Pack last week and he took my Low Silver from worst to first by filling a deficit I had at 2B.
