Stu Tate
Don't know if anyone needs an image of Stu Tate, who appeared in two games for the '89 Giants. But here he is.

Topps Vault Folder MB
Quote:
624-25 Tony Taylor, 626-629 Ron Taylor, 630-633 Hawk Taylor, 634-635 Carl Taylor, 636-637 Bruce Taylor, 638-639 Frank Taveras, 640-641 Ken Tatum, 642-643 Jarvis Tatum. Glad to see these because you just can't get enough Hawk Taylor. Just on our known Vault checklists, there have now been 39 images of Hawk Taylor released. Another Tony Taylor (625) added Thursday. Folder KD's latest
Jerry Tabb was one of many failed No. 1 picks of the Chicago Cubs (1973, No. 16 overall), even though his pedigree was more than enough to justify his selection. While at Tulsa, he wound up being named Most Outstanding Player in the College World Series as his school finished second.
Tabb made his MLB debut late in 1975, failed to record an extra base hit and was shipped to the Athletics before any of the card companies could act. The Vault has already opened to a number of his images, both with Chicago and Oakland, but Wednesday's Vault release is the first we've seen of Tabb in his home pinstripes. FOLDER KD: 436-437 John Urrea; 438-441 Jose Uribe; 442-443 Willie Upshaw; 444-445 John Upshaw (Detroit minors); 446-449 Cecil Upshaw; 450-451 Pat Underwood; 452-453 Jim Umbarger; 454-455 Mike Tyson; 456-457 Stan Swanson; 458-459 Rusty Torres; 460-461 Angel Torrres; 462-465 Pablo Torrealba; 466-467 Jeff Torborg; 468-469 Ellis Valentine; 470-471 Sergio Valdez; 472-475 Mike Vail; 475-477 Stu Tate; 478-479 Randy Tate; 480-483 John Tamargo; 484-485 Greg Talamanrtez (Orioles minors); 486-487 Jerry Tabb; 488-489 Darrell Sutherland; 490-491 Bob Sykes; 492-493 Steve Swisher; 494-495 Rick Sweet. A new baseball card update has been completed for seasons 1956-1973 including separate files for APC and DMB. Let me know if there are any errors. When I uploaded them (took a few hours to upload the 8 GB worth of files), I had report of several failures and some were uploaded multiple times. I have eliminated the extras so all that remains are the newly updated zips. This is a huge update (over 1800) which is why I uploaded all seasonal zips as well. Included are over 300 vintage photos from Guy (Getty). If you only download the update please know that if you paste into a previously downloaded season folder that you will be pasting over the previous best card for those players. So never do that. If you want all cards in a season, skip the update and just download the season(s). They include all cards.

Is the Vault closing down for the winter?
Vault Folder KD abruptly turned into NFL images Thursday after these last, largely anonymous batch of images. As pinch-hitter with limited resources, I have to admit that some of these are best guesses, but I put a question mark.
FOLDER KD 496-499 Steve Stone; 500-501 Jerry Stone (Padres min.); 502-505 George Stone; 506-507 Eric Stone (Tigers min.); 508-509 Tim Stoddard; 510-511 Bob Stoddard; 512-513 Mike Stoker (Braves min.); 514-515 Ron Theobald; 516-517 Duane Theiss; 518-519 Bob Tewksbury; 520-521 Tim Teufel; 522-523 Jeff Terpko; 524-525 Greg Terlecky; 526-529 Frank Tepedino; 530-531 Mike Tennant; 532-533 Gene Tenace; 534-535 Wil Tejeda. As for the Vault... I would think we'd be used to their schedule by now. But, yes, they have their baseball off-season beginning around mid-November and ending in mid-to-late March, give or take a week on either end. If we aren't done with baseball postings for the year just yet, we will be in about another week (not including the second go around "buy it now"s). |

Pat Darcy as a Blue Jay
Pat Darcy Register Statistics & History | Baseball-Reference.com
This is Darcy's BR page with minor league stats - no indication of time in the Jays' system, and no transaction information indicating he was ever affiliated with Toronto. When was he with them, or could it have been another franchise you meant? |

Russ Nixon (1935-2016)
Russ Nixon, who spent eight of his 12 major league seasons as a backup catcher playing for the Boston Red Sox, and who later managed the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves, passed away this past week at the age of 81.
Nixon played for the Red Sox, Twins and Indians from 1957-1968 and had a last ditch effort to catch on with the White Sox end with his release at the end of spring training 1969. He would go on to coach for the Reds from 1976 until being named to replace John McNamara in 1982. He himself was fired midway through the 1983 season, and went on to coach for the Expos and Braves until being selected to replace Chuck Tanner as Braves manager early in the 1988 season. He was fired by G.M. Bobby Cox during the 1990 season, and was eventually replaced by Cox himself at the onset of 1991. And the rest, as they say in Atlanta, is history. Nixon was a coach for the Mariners in 1992, and managed in the minors until 2005 and worked as an instructor until 2007. |

1972 Cleveland Indians
My ongoing quest to finish a 1972 card set of the tribe wearing the 72 red, found a Dick Tidrow option on the ebay completed listings. A not too bad Brace image. Also found an upgraded Alex Johnson that Krantzbucks sharpened the color and removed signature. It is posted on his colorization thread.

A serious question
Please answer this in a private message if you feel any nerves at all about it, but it's the only reasonable way I know to ask this is to ask it here:
Does anyone know of any kind of membership thread, apart from the OOTP site, something under the radar, about trading, comparing, discussing custom cards? I know this is a taboo subject here, and I've learned it should be. But to discuss customs with like-minded individuals would be educational and enlightening to me, at least. |
