Kiki Jones
Can't guarantee that Jones is in a St. Pete Devil Rays uniform, but he might be. The photo is from the Tampa Bay Times of March 2, 1998, and it's a newspaper based in St. Pete. Jones had already been working out with the parent Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=decell001mic P.S. The Tampa Bay Times of March 14, 1997 (p.7c) confirms that he was on the Charleston roster as of that date. However, on the same day, it was reported that he was in a game with the parent Tampa Bay Devil Rays' split squad against the Phillies. It was called the junior Devil Rays vs. the junior Phillies. That could account for the Devil Rays' uniform in the photo. Last edited by Cusick; 09-09-2019 at 09:40 PM. Reason: Add P.S. |

According to Beckett Mike DeCelle has a card in the 1997 River Dogs team set, however, there does not seem to be a picture of it anywhere online.

The one I saw, which included the picture of Duncan Campbell you posted, stated: "He was born on October 21, 1934 in the Cruz de Rio Grande, Bluefields, Son of Mr. Aubrey Desmond Campbell and Mrs. Ofelia Potoy." I was not able to find the Costa Rican reference. |

Duncan Campbell
Just wanted to mention that despite Campbell's not playing a huge number of games at the AAA level, he did manage to earn himself a spot on the Pirates' 40-man roster in the spring of 1962. In my view, when prospects succeed in getting themselves one of those spring training roster slots with the big league parent club, that in itself is a special accomplishment.

White Sox 60's farmhands
Here are John Gray and Haley Young , both of whom played in the final years of Negro league baseball for the Indianapolis Clowns. Both men were signed by the Chicago White Sox. Gray was first an outfielder who took up a catcher's mitt. He was not outstanding at the plate but good enough for a backstop of that era. John Gray played from '56 to '60 never advancing above C ball.
Haley Young Jr. was the more accomplished of the two hitting 16 home runs at Class A in 1965. Both were briefly classmates at the Colored high school of Ft. Lauderdale in the 1950's which is now Dillard High School, the alma mater of the NFL's Bennie and Brian Blades. https://klmitchell.com/2017/05/05/a-...aley-young-jr/ Last edited by PinsonHOF; 10-02-2019 at 08:52 PM. |

I was not able to find the Costa Rican reference. https://www.1800beisbol.com/baseball..._de_nicaragua/ This is the link to the main article I found on Duncan Campbell. In it the author refers to him as The Costa Rican in the first paragraph. This is the only information I have on this ambiguity in nationality and in order to read the article I had to click on the auto Google translation. This might explain the discrepancy. |

Duncan Campbell's father
Here is a link to a Wikipedia entry for Aubry Campbell Ingram , the founder of the Boy Scouts in Nicaragua, It states he was born in Bluefields so the earlier Costa Rica reference for Duncan Campbell was likely a mistake. In this link it mentions his son Duncan being a professional baseball player.

Here a couple of Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves farmhands who pitched well but never made to the big club. Ken Nixon and Joe Cisterna . In one minor league season Joe went 19-8. He died in a car accident at age 29 in 1972.

Joe Cisterna
I made this very basic player card for my Baseball Mogul Diamond game. I drafted Cisterna for the Louisville Mammoths and subsequently traded him to Atlanta in 1966 for Of Jim Beauchamp. I wanted Joe Cisterna to finally get a call up to the Braves.

NOT Frank Robinson in Ogden
Just saw this on here, four years too late. The smiling guy in the back row? THAT'S not F. Robby. The guy in front of him, to his left, is F. Robby
