On the more Fallout end of the spectrum, on a whim I have a 10-day weekend at the same time I found a copy of Fallout 76 I'd acquired in a bundle about 11 months ago. I know you've said you haven't played that one, and while I won't spam, I can pass along anything that might be particularly relevant if I find anything.
Definitely demotivating! I had a mixture of anger, frustration, anxiety, and depression all at once! I put a lot of time into this league, so I want to see it thrive for many more years to come!

I don't know if I will ever play Fallout 76 unless it somehow gets revamped into a single player game. However, I do plan to work in some of the canon from that game into my multiverse at some point. There are some connections between Boston and Washington DC that I have yet to fully explore, so Fallout 76 does fit in here.

Hope you enjoy playing it!

2305 CBO Offseason

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

22 December 2305

Moe Discovers Joe

“You know we have a building with nothing but books and holotapes,” Diamond City Swatters owner Moe Cronin started in our sitdown this week. “It’s called a li-berry. L-I-E-berry. You should check it out for your stories.”

Cronin, but Moe as we’ll call him in this story, is not a man that you paraphrase. You quote him. As owner of the two-time champion Swatters and founder of Swatters, Inc., the official bat supplier of the CBO, Moe knows baseball. You know what else he knows? Joe. As in Joe Cronin.

“Our names almost rhyme,” Cronin said. “I think he might be my grandpaps. Like I was named after him or something. What a coincidence.”

Joe Cronin was a legend in Boston before the Great War. In fact, he was born exactly 400 years ago this year in San Francisco, a pre-War city on America’s West Coast. He later got into baseball and ended up as Boston’s star player and manager from 1935-1945. He became strictly the manager in 1946 and 1947. In 1947, he became the general manager of the Red Sox and stayed in that role until he was named the president of the American League, the league Boston played in, 1959. He stayed in that role until 1973, never having experienced a Boston championship during his career in baseball.

Because of his discovery, Moe has finally learned what the numbers on the Great Green Jewel meant.

“Apparently, they used to retire the numbers of the best players,” Moe said. “Can you believe that? My grandpaps wore number 4. That’s his number right there.” He pointed at the bright 4 that had been repainted by Abbot, the stadium’s painter.

Learning about the reason behind the numbers on the wall, Moe has decided to honor all the retired numbers in baseball history, with a ceremony especially for #4. He has also released the full list of all retired numbers—20 in all, including one new one that he will retire.

“Did you know the Red Sox were in the World Series the day the bombs fell in 2077?” Moe asked as though we had never discovered that fact in the 10-year history of the CBO. “They were going to win it, too, with a fellow named Matt Murtagh. I think he has a great grandchild playing in the CBO, too. A fellow named Maxx. Think that’s a coincidence?” Matt Murtagh wore #11, which will be added to the other 19 numbers.

In all, the following numbers are considered “retired” for the Swatters team: 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, 21, 24, 26, 27, 30, 33, 34, 42, 45, and 49.

“It’s an honor to honor Boston history,” Moe said.

Because of the retired numbers, seven current Swatters players were required to change their uniform numbers:
SS Teddy Sturgeon – 4 to 44
RP Dummy Potluck – 5 to 55
3B Allen Bishop – 6 to 7
SS Mrap Phillips – 8 to 38
CF Witcher Craft – 14 to 31
2B Chris Milteer – 21 to 10
C Dirt Potter – 34 to 12

Long-time CL Josh Samm, who has worn #24, was not required to retire his number with the promise by Moe Cronin that his name would also be honored along with the other player whose #24 was retired, Dwight Evans. However, Samm stated that it was not fair to his teammates that he would be an exception, so he agreed to change to #54 with the understanding his name would still be attached to #24 in Diamond City history.

“I want to retire a lot more numbers before I die,” Moe said. “That means we won a lot of championships.”

2306 CBO Preseason

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

4 January 2306

Starlight Team Changes Name for Film, Becomes Just Killers

The Starlight Lady Killers have dropped the "Lady" for 2306 in anticipation of Starlight Production's debut film, "The Killer of Linden Street."

According to the press release and the voice over in pre-film commercials, the film is a "chilling journey back in time with the most terrifying true tale ever told. This is the story of the Pint-Sized Slasher."

The Killers have changed their logo to a picture of the popular pre-War Halloween mask based on the tiny terror serial killer that slaughtered all neighbors on Linden Street sometime before the War.

Starlight owner Irish Cait, who has been back from the mission to find the source of creature attacks on some settlements, held a press conference to announce the movie debut. She stated that she likes the Starlight team being the Killers but that the current logo is only intended to be used as a promotional stunt and is not intended to be the permanent logo.

Said Cait, "I never was keen about the idea of us being Lady Killers since I am a lady. Well, almost. I understand the meaning and all, but it's a little unnerving when we're simulating actually killing ladies and not what the phrase intended. I'd like to find good balance in the future for the Killers team name, which what I always call us anyway."

The 2306 circle logo can be seen below.

February 2306

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

1 February 2306

The February Super Post

CBO News and Notes

We last put out a super post at the beginning of November, but there has been a lot going on. Let's get you updated in what you need to know from the offseason.

Commissioner Nate Howard has been battling a rise in creature attacks around the COmmonwealth. More on that story below. For now, Commonwealth newcomer who claims to have played in a baseball league out west called the Mojave Baseball League, Jimmy LaRue, is the acting commissioner in Howard's absence. Several of the owners who had been Howard's companions when he took over the Commonwealth assisted him, but some have returned, including Starlight owner Irish Cait, who had a big announcement last month.

Salem has a new owner. Barney Rook sold the rights to the team with a contract that Salem would stay put for at least 15 years. Businessman Nelson Latimer is now the sole owner of the team and has begun the process of establishing a second HQ in Salem to go with the HQ in Diamond City's Hangman's Alley district.

The CBO has a new league, the Massachusetts Minor League that serves as the AAA affiliate. The BMU is now considered AA, and the GBRL is still classified as R.

The youth leagues have some changes, including four more communities joining the BYDL. Also, the CCYL and PJPL merged to become the Southern Commonwealth Youth League thanks to a functioning railway running from Sandwich to Providence. Also, two more squads joined to make it 16 teams in the newly formed SCYL. Future plans are to merge all youth leagues that serve the CBO.

As we mentioned above, Cait had a big announcement. In partnership with the Starlight Productions entertainment studio, the Starlight baseball team is now known as the Killers (formerly Lady Killers) in a joint promotion of the first film to debut from the new studio, "The Killer of Linden Street" featuring the Pint-Sized Slasher as the villain.

And finally, as an update from LaRue about the continuing creature saga currently affecting the Commonwealth:

"I received an update about the situations that are affecting multiple settlements, including those in Salem and Fort Hagen as part of our CBO franchises. It is also something I was aware of in the Mojave in terms of creatures and modern technology.

"Nate (Howard) has discovered the root of the occurrences and is currently working out methods to end the threat. As we have discovered, there is a group of super mutants possessing a higher-than-average level of intelligence. These super mutants have bred and created other creatures, feeding them high volumes of Stealth Boys. Creatures fed Stealth Boys include some of our giants: behemoths and queen mirelurks.

"Nate has been able to eliminate the known giants near Salem and is currently seeking those giants west of Boston. While a 'creature farm' has been located and destroyed in the Beverly area, just north of Salem, Nate has expressed that there may be more facilities, thus the targeted attacks in two specific areas and a few other random attacks in other areas.

"We will keep all posted, but as of now, we consider the immediate threat in the Northeast eliminated and hope to eliminate additional threats in the West. Until then, please stay vigilant and report any suspicions of Stealthboy usage by creatures or other humans to your local authority Minutemen or Brotherhood of Steel soldier.

"While Nate is in the wilderness, I will continue to serve as Interim Commissioner. I have been in contact with Nate, and he is looking forward to the 2306 season, as are all of you."

2306 Nuka Cup

In addition to addressing the state of affairs, Interim Commissioner LaRue also spoke of the 2306 Nuka Cup to be held in the host settlements of University Point, Nordhagen Beach, County Crossing, and Egret.

Like last season, the first round will feature a Round Robin of the six teams playing each other in a three-game series, with the top two teams in each bracket advancing to the quarterfinals. There, the teams from the University Point regional will play teams from the County Crossing regional, and the top teams from the Nordhagen Beach regional will play the top teams from the Egret regional. Winners will advance to the semifinals and then the finals for the chance to win the 2306 Nuka Cup. Last season, Roxbury defeated Jamaica Plain in the finals.

Teams traveling to each host location in order of seeding (2-6):

University Point: Easy Town, Oberland, Starlight, FHE, The Slog
County Crossing: Roxbury, Concord, Diamond City, Bunker Hill, Quincy
Nordhagen Beach: Jamaica Plain, Salem, Spectacle Island, Finch Farm, Goodneighbor
Egret: Sunshine Tidings, Atom, Lexington, Vault 81, Fort Hagen

The Nuka Cup will run from Sunday, February 25 through Saturday, March 24. Spring training games begin on March 25 with the regular season beginning on Tuesday, April 3.

We showed the changes to the other minor leagues in November, but we did not show the restructuring of the Boston Minor Union.

Teams new to the minors include the Marlborough Firemen, Mayoral Shelter Tricentennials, Plymouth Pilgrims, Woburn Bobbleheads, and Worcester Cannons.

Below are the teams showing home and away uniforms.

You know, the creepy clown horror theme (or horror in general) aren't really my thing, but I can see how the people in universe would go pretty crazy for it, so probably a fitting change. Similarly, I think we all here in real life would roll our eyes at such a commercial tie in, but in Fallout, it's rather on the nose haha.

It does seem to be something that is not very American. I know from when I lived in Korea that the KBO teams were all called by their corporate sponsors rather than their city. My local team was the Samsung Lions in Daegu.

As far as the Pint-Sized Slasher is concerned, he is definitely a one-year logo. I didn't even change the uniforms, but I am considering making their logo a little more imposing in the future.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

12 February 2306

The Aging Pitcher Problem?

When the 2306 season begins, there will be 96 starting pitchers and up to
300 total pitchers in the league on Opening Day. For many teams, they have high hopes that their pitching staffs will make the difference between them being a contender and a team looking to reload for the future.

Unfortunately, what we are seeing is that the group of good pitchers is aging rapidly, and the young guys are not replacing them at a high enough rate.

Diamond City Swatters Scouting Director Tom Lakes thinks so, too.

"We're always looking for talent," Lakes said, "but we're also having problems finding guys ready or close to ready that are under 30. There just aren't that many, and they are worth more than we can pay to get them."

Assuming they do not make significant moves before the season begins, the four starters are Sheng Kawolski (33), City Moore (38), Aldo Sanch (28), and Mike Dawson (25). According to OSA scouts, they are respectively rated 80, 51, 46, and 44. The Swatters organization has no pitchers with a potential above 36 in their three levels of minors.

"We can say that our pitching staff lacks talent," Lakes said. "Every team's pitching staff lacks talent."

One team that was a heavy buyer in the offseason was Starlight. Their biggest talent gain was trading for SP Digger Vadim (27), considered one of the top pitchers in the league and under 30. However, to give him up, the Killers had to give up three top talents in LF Ken Debate, assumed to become a star soon, and good prospect pitchers in Pat Skinner (22) and Saw Valdez (20). According to Starlight manager Austin Shuler, the Killers are in "win now mode." They also have acquired within the last calendar year 1B Oren Gep from Diamond City, C Biter Trout from County Crossing, and RF Hurr Lee Reyes from Lexington.

"Our minors are suddenly empty," Shuler said.

All of the teams with top pitching staffs have some players they are afraid will fall off the cliff, in baseball terms, with sudden dead arms.

Atom Cats manager Fourth Wall acknowledged the same.

"We've enjoyed one of the best pitching staffs in the league through various players," Wall said. "But now we have those cliff divers to worry about."

Atom's "cliff divers" include SP Bow Rome (37), SP Tristan Marble (34), and CL Chopsticks McWilliams (35). Rome had a career-best 19 wins in 2305, along with his second-best ERA of 3.66. However, the Cats are not expecting similar results.

"We're trying to get as many innings as possible and outscore the other team," Wall said. "We need to make sure we send up nine guys to hit the hell out of the ball to punish the other team's divers."

OSA only rates 15 pitchers as being "excellent," which is 68/80 or above in their rated abilities. Four of those players are over 30. Six more are approaching 30.

Lakes believes that there should be more focus on developing pitchers. He also wishes that chems were allowed in the league, if only stimpacks.

"(Stimpacks) would help," he said. "If not (stimpacks), we probably need to coach our youth more on being good pitchers. I think some teams are just lofting up softballs and waiting for their turns to bat. We need more pitching talent coming into the league."

The CBO office was unavailable for comment, along with OSA scouts. Regardless, there is a problem brewing for the league, including rising ERAs. For example, in the NCA, the ERA in the past two seasons were 1st and 3rd in CBO history. In 2306, the SCA had its highest ERA since 2300.

"I don't want 10-8 games," Wall said. "I want 3-1 games."

I think it fits with the 50's futurism, as it's a very 50's vibe. I don't think American sports would ever reach the level of corporate sponsorship that Korea or Japan have, but there's definitely an alternate history where America has *more*. I think specifically what would be required would be the scandals of the big corporate game shows being rigged never having become public knowledge, and given how rife the world of Fallout is with corporate sponsorship, I'm betting that's just the sort of low key thematic change that's perfect for the setting.

I think a lot of futurism highlights vapid consumerism as an overwhelming part of life. Two examples of futuristic oversaturation I can think of right away are Blade Runner and Starship Troopers. Well, the consumerism of Starship Troopers was at least a different take where regular people become a part of the live advertising.

Hell, today, in the real world, I just complained to my wife because I was trying to show her footage of the tornado that hit Fort Lauderdale, and we had to wait for a 60-second life insurance ad before we could watch the 20-second clip.

Ha, on that front, I have good news and bad news. The good news is: Fallout 76 is basically a single player game. I've got about 5 hours in it, and it basically has been just a single player game with some weird vibes because it technically is designed for an online world, in two major ways (daily challenges and whatnot, and then only major npcs being given fleshing out, though those npcs that are fleshed out do feel just as well developed as in Fallout 4 so far, maybe even better).

The bad news is, while you can just ignore other people running around your game world (really, it's super easy), because I have more money than sense I paid $100 for a year subscription so I can host private sessions so I will be 100% left alone and now it is a single player game haha.

But yeah, just wanted to let you know, if you wanted to play it solo, it 100% is not a problem at the current gamestate. Indeed, it almost feels like it's more of a hassel to play it with friends than it is to play it solo.

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

3 March 2306

2306 Nuka Cup

The first week of the 2306 Nuka Cup is now complete, and, oh boy, do we have some fun surprises thus far. There are four groups of six teams with the final four teams in the playoffs in 2305 acting as tournament regional hosts. Of the four hosts, only one has won its two series, while two of the hosts have lost both of its series to the 6th and 5th seeds in the regional. Let's take a look at the results and standings.

Note: teams highlighted in green in the standings represent the two teams that would be representatives if the quarterfinals would start today.

Group A - University Point

The defending champions have looked like they are still in celebration mode. What the University Point Deathclaws have not done is start off the season with a strong sense of proving they are ready to defend that championship.

The Deathclaws dropped two of three against The Slog and then followed that up by getting swept by being swept by FHE. The Ghouls and Yao Guai combined for just eight more wins than University Point last season.

Speaking of the Ghouls and FHE, both are atop the standings after each winning both series this week. The Slog swept Oberland in their second series, and the Yao Guai won two of three over Easy Town. This regional is topsy turvy with the two lowest seeds atop the standings and the two highest seeds at the bottom of them.

Group B - County Crossing

This regional is the one we are most confident the two top teams will end up being the representatives of the regional. Well, we guess we are confident.

Only one team has won both series in the first week: third-seeded Concord. The Radstags won two of three over #4 Diamond City and then did the same over #6 Quincy.

The Gunners are the only team that has not won a series with Quincy dropping all three games against #1 County Crossing.

Every other team is sitting at 1-1, including Roxbury, who was able to sweep #5 Bunker Hill but then dropped two of three against the Swatters.

The Radstags play both of the top two seeds this week, so we'll see then how this regional will shape up. Should Concord win one or both of their series, they will probably cruise into the #1 seed in the quarterfinals.

Group C - Nordhagen Beach

Only one team in this regional has lost two games: Nordhagen Beach. Just as the champions have come out of the gate cold, so have the CBO's runners-up. The Party Boys are not partying after dropping series to #6 Goodneighbor, two games to one, and then doing the same against Brotherhood League rival Finch Farm.

Another BL team is the sole undefeated team: the #3 Salem Witch Hats. The Hats won two over Spectacle Island and then swept the Hancocks to go 2-0 in their series.

#2 Jamaica Plain is 1-1 with a series win over the Four Leafs and then a series loss to the Reapers. Right now, this regional could go in any direction, but we put our money on the Red Rockets.

Group D - Egret

The host Ninjas may have taken the next step up, or at least, they are trying to show it. After selecting to play the first game of the day instead of the last game, Egret has shown extreme enthusiasm entering the 2306 season. A parade at the Marina was held, showing all three levels of the minors in full display: the Brookline Bandoliers, the Plymouth Pilgrims, and the Beantown Brewers.

Not only did Egret show enthusiasm, but they followed up, sweeping the #6 Fort Hagen Silver Shroud and then winning two of three over #5 Vault 81.

Two other teams also are currently undefeated. #2 Sunshine Tidings defeated both the Dwellers and #4 Lexington. #3 Atom also won both of its series over the Synths and Shroud.

That makes this regional an almost three-squad race with three teams at 2-0 and three at 0-2. Unless something crazy happens, the two representatives will be among the top three seeds.

Well, not being bothered would be nice. Paying $100... well, that's not happening until I have all the time in the world, which I don't, to get my money's worth.

At some point, however, I do plan to dive into the established canon to include in this story. I have no plans to ever begin a new dynasty called, "Fallout 76's Appalchia Baseball Association." But I am NOT saying there will never be an ABA . . . Foreshadowing? We shall see!

2306 Nuka Cup

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

10 March 2306

2306 Nuka Cup

Two weeks of the Nuka Cup Tournament is now complete. We already know of two teams definitely going to the Quarterfinals Round and nine who will not be there at all. Let's take a look at each of the regionals and scenarios for each team still alive.

For tiebreakers in even series records, here are the tiebreaker rules:
1. Head-to-head matchups
2. Overall record (if still tied with two teams, move to #5)
3. For three or more teams tied: head-to-head vs other tied teams
4. For three or more teams tied: overall record
5. Runs differential
6. Home Run Derby

Group A - University Point

The last seed in this Regional and the worst team in the North Charles Association, the The Slog Ghouls have opened up a can so far in this tournament, winning three of their four series and standing as the only 3-1 team in the University Point Regional. On the opposite side, the #2 seed, Easy Town, is 1-3 and eliminated from consideration. All they can do is to play spoiler in their series against the host Deathclaws.

Here are the last matchups:

Easy Town vs University Point
FHE vs Oberland
Starlight vs The Slog

The Slog: For the Ghouls, win two or three games against Starlight (1-1), and they would be the #1 team out of the regional. Should they lose, they would have the tiebreaker advantages over University Point, Oberland, and FHE, but not the advantage over the Killers. First, they would want to avoid the sweep, which could eliminate them if FHE defeats the T-51s. Second, they would want to root for University Point to lose at least one game versus the Assaultrons. However, an alternative method to win the #1 seed is also to lose but Oberland and University Point wins, in which case The Slog would win tiebreakers.

University Point: They need to defeat the Trons, probably in a sweep. They would also want to cheer on The Slog and Oberland in their series.

Oberland: They need to defeat the Yao Guai in an elimination series, probably in a sweep. They would then cheer on Easy Town and The Slog.

Starlight: They must win the series versus the Ghouls. They could be the #1 seed if FHE and Easy Town both win their series.

FHE: They need to defeat the T-51s in an elimination series. A sweep would be helpful but not pertinent. They can only earn the #2 seed since a tie for 1st would require one of the three or more teams' tiebreakers in which they would be at a disadvantage. Therefore, they want to root for The Slog to win as well as Easy Town.

Likely finishes: We are going to predict UP, Oberland, and Starlight all to win their series as the higher-rated teams knowing they need the series wins. Should that happen, four teams would be 3-2 and tied for 1st place. In that case, the #1 seed would be The Slog and the #2 seed would be University Point.

Group B - County Crossing

Only one team is eliminated due to a poor showing, Quincy, while another is mathematically eliminated in the County Crossing Regional. #2 Roxbury and #4 Diamond City are currently each 3-1, meaning they both have the inside track to move on from this regional. Let's take a look at scenarios.

The matchups:
Roxbury vs County Crossing
Bunker Hill vs Concord
Diamond City vs Quincy

Roxbury: Currently listed as the frontrunner due to their overall record, the Rad Sox are in position to clinch a Quarterfinals Round spot with a series win. To earn the #1 seed, they would need to win and have Diamond City lose to Quincy. Should the Sox lose, they would need some help in the final standings, starting with Bunker Hill beating Concord and the Swatters winning their series. Then, Roxbury would also need to win one game against the Bloodbugs to be the #2 seed.

Diamond City: If the Swatters win their series over Quincy, they are the #1 seed in the regional since they won the head-to-head matchup with the Rad Sox. If they lose, they could still be the #1 seed in a four-way tie with Roxbury, County Crossing, and Bunker Hill. If the Swatters lose and the Sox win, they would need the 75ers to defeat the Radstags to be the #2 seed.

County Crossing: The Bugs cannot clinch 1st place, but they can be the 2nd-place team. They need a series win over the Rad Sox. Then, they need Concord to down Bunker Hill to win tiebreakers in both a three-way tie for second or four-way tie for 1st to earn the 2nd seed.

Concord: The Radstags have one scenario to earn the #2 seed. They need to win, they need Roxbury to win their series, and they need Quincy to overrun the Swatters.

Bunker Hill: The 75ers are technically eliminated because they would lose every tiebreaker scenario. Their series is just an exhibition for them.

Group C - Nordhagen Beach

The host Party Boys started off slowly, but they are now in position to get one of the spots in the Quarterfinals in a tough final matchup. Two teams, Spectacle Island and Goodneighbor, are both done since they trail Jamaica Plain and Finch Farm by two with just one series to play.

Here are the matchups:

Jamaica Plain vs Nordhagen Beach
Finch Farm vs Salem
Spectacle Island vs Goodneighbor

Jamaica Plain: Simply, the Rockets get the #1 seed with a series win over Nordhagen Beach. Should the Red Rockets lose, they also need the Four Leafs to lose. In that case, there would be a four-way tie for 1st place, and the Rockets would get the #2 seed due to tiebreakers. If Jamaica Plain loses and Finch Farm wins, then the Rockets would be eliminated.

Finch Farm: The Leafs also need a series win to earn a spot in the Quarterfinals Round. If they win and the Red Rockets lose, then they are the #1 seed. If Finch Farm loses, then they would be eliminated.

Nordhagen Beach: The Party Boys need a series win, and they are in. They could be the top seed from their own regional if they win and the Witch Hats win their series. In a four-way tie for first place, the Boys would be the team to win all tiebreakers. Should the Leafs win, Nordhagen Beach would be the second team in. A series loss, and the Boys are out.

Salem: The Hats have the toughest road to making it through this regional. They cannot be the #1 seed from the regional. To earn the #2 seed, Salem would need to win their series over Finc Farm and have the Rockets eliminate Nordhagen Beach.

Group D - Egret

The Egret Regional is the easiest to break down. At 4-0, both the Ninjas and Sunshine Tidings have secured their spots in the Quarterfinal Round. All they need do now is to play their series to determine who will be the top seed and who will be the second seed. All other teams are eliminated.

Matchups:

Sunshine Tidings vs Egret
Vault 81 vs Atom
Lexington vs Fort Hagen

2306 Nuka Cup

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

14 March 2306

2306 Nuka Cup

The Round Robin round of the regionals are complete, and eight teams are standing. In the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals rounds, the higher seed will be the home team.

In the Quaterfinals Round, the winner of the regional bracket will be the home team. For example, the winner of the University Point Regional will host the second-place finisher of the County Crossing Regional.

In the Semifinals Round, the regional winners will host if they play a second-seeded team. If both teams have the same seed, then the team with the top overall seed will be the host. The same will be true in the Finals Round.

All remaining rounds are the same three-game series with the team winning two or three games considered the series winner.

Group A - University Point

Starlight had only one possible way to become the #1 seed from the University Point Regional, and they got just that. In the four-way tie scenario where the Killers, The Slog, FHE, and University Point was tied at 3-2, Starlight would be the #1 seed due to tiebreakers with a 2-1 advantage over the other three teams, including the other team that went 2-1 against 1st-place teams, the Ghouls.

Since the Ghouls held tiebreakers over the Deathclaws and Yaou Guai, the sixth-seeded team is the #2 seed representative of the University Point Regional.

Group B - County Crossing

The Roxbury Rad Sox got what they needed, defeating County Crossing and watching Diamond City lose their series to Quincy. That makes the Sox the winners of the County Crossing Regional.

With both Concord and the Swatters finishing tied for 2nd, the Radstags get the nod due to their earlier series win over Diamond City.

Therefore, Roxbury will host The Slog in the Quarterfinals Round, while the Radstags will visit Starlight.

Group C - Nordhagen Beach

When this regional began, the host Party Boys started 0-2, losing to both the 6th and 5th seeds. The path to make the Quarterfinals Round looked impossible. However, in the last three series, Nordhagen Beach got exactly what it needed, winning all three series and then having a four-way tie that gave them the tiebreakers edge. That makes the Boys the #1 seed from the Nordhagen Beach Regional.

Despite losing their last series to the Boys, Jamaica Plain is the #2 seed as the #2 seed, winning tiebreakers over both Finch Farm and Salem for the right to play the winner of the Egret Regional.

Group D - Egret

This regional was all about seeding in the final series, with the Sunshine Tidings Chemists winning two of three over the host Ninjas.

That means that the Chemists are the winner of the Egret Regional and face Jamaica Plain at home in the Quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the Ninjas will travel to Nordhagen Beach for the Quarterfinals matchup.

2306 Nuka Cup

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

18 March 2306

2306 Nuka Cup - Quarterfinals

The Quarterfinals Round began with three interassociation games and one interleague game.

Traditional powerhouse such as Roxbury, Nordhagen Beach, and Jamaica Plain are all here, along with 2305 playoff representatives Sunshine Tidings, Egret, and Concord. The two bonus teams are Starlight, which looks to be a legit playoff contender in 2306, and The Slog, which finished at the bottom of the North Charles Association in 2305. Let's look at each series matchup with a small recap of the game.

Concord Radstags (County Crossing Regional 2) at Starlight Killers (University Point Regional 1)

This series featured the 2nd-place finisher in the Institute League in 2305 traveling to the 1st-place finisher. The Killers look to be a legitimate playoff contender in 2306 with an aggressive trade philosophy in the last few months that produced SP Digger Vadim, C Biter Trout, 1B Oren Gep, and LF Hurr Lee Reyes. However, Concord and Sunshine Tidings will be formidable opponents in what looks to be a much-improved IL.

March 15: Concord 5, Starlight 3

The Killers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Radstags closed the gap in the 2nd inning and never looked back on their way to victory. Despite the loss, Reyes was named the Game MVP, going 2 for 2 with two home runs, two walks, two runs scored, and three RBI. Concord's 2B Sherwood Forest hit a two-run home run in the top of the 4th to put the Stags up 4-2.

March 16: Concord 8, Starlight 1

The Radstags clinched the series by winning the first two games. The Stags scored five in the top of the 1st off Starlight SP Sam Molina. Concord's SP Emperry Alizm earned the Game MVP honors by allowing one earned run and seven hits in 8.1 innings with two walks and four strikeouts. No one had a particularly outstanding game for the Stags, but 3B Peter Tatoeater, SS Sean Koester, and C Tenthree Leader all had two RBI apiece.

March 17: Starlight 5, Concord 2

In a game that did not matter for the tournament, the Killers got a win in the series thanks to a three-run 8th inning. Game MVP Reyes was the reason, hitting a three-run homer. He finished 2 for 4 with a double, a home run, a run scored, and four RBI. SP Jonathan Newman got the start for Starlight but the win went to RP Larry Undertaker.

The Slog Ghouls (University Point Regional 2) at Roxbury Rad Sox (County Crossing Regional 1)

On paper, this series just did not feel fair as the Ghouls were awful in 2305 and the Rad Sox were kept from a third-straight title by being upset by Egret in the playoffs. While the Sox are slightly different in 2306, they are still probably the favorites to win it all in 2306. As for The Slog, well, this preseason tournament is expected to be the highlight of their year, though they do have some young talent in the franchise.

March 15: Roxbury 12, The Slog 3

As expected, the Rad Sox wasted no time, overwhelming SP Tiger Fanne early, scoring two in the 1st, three in the 2nd, and another in the 3rd to jump out to a 6-0 lead. The Sox scored in every inning they batted but the 4th. Roxbury's LF Young Goodman hit two home runs to earn game MVP honors. Teammates SP Whokill Poole (the winning pitcher), RF Deerlord Fugivmee, and SS Purple Gupta all also homered.

March 16: Roxbury 4, The Slog 3

The Rad Sox got the walk-off win in the bottom of the 9th. With runners on first and second on back-to-back singles to start the inning by 1B Duncan MacCready and SS Gupta, pinch hitter Dustin Shotgun hit an EBI double off Ghouls' RP Trent Gentilcore. Roxbury clinched the series with the win and will face Concord in the semifinals.

March 17: Roxbury 4, The Slog 1

The Sox got the only sweep in the quarterfinals. CF Ben Pawlak earned Game MVP honors, going 2 for 2 with a home run, a walk, a HBP, two runs, and three RBI. SP Chet Arthur held the Ghouls to just one earned run and two hits in 7.0 innings.

Egret Ninjas (Egret Regional 2) at Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (Nordhagen Beach Regional 1)

Egret has started to look as though they want to be around as a contender from the outset, as they showed in 2305 when they jumped out to a stellar start and rode out those early victories to earn the 4th seed in the South Charles Association playoffs. The Party Boys are always in the playoffs, coming up just short of their second title when they lost in five games to University Point in the 2305 Sole Survivor Series.

March 15: Nordhagen Beach 2, Egret 1

The Party Boys' SP Tommy Beach pitched eight shutout innings, allowing four hits, walking two, and striking out eight. CL David "AntAgonist" Kidd allowed a solo home run in the 9th by the Ninjas' RF Rick Pickle but held off any more runs to earn the save.

March 16: Egret 6, Nordhagen Beach 4

The Ninjas jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over Nordhagen Beach ace Beachboy Nut on their way to victory and a setup for the rubber match on Saturday. Egret SP Evan Before was named Game MVP, allowing two earned runs on four hits with a walk and seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings. 1B Joe Mahaney had two hits, including a two-RBI double, and three RBI overall.

March 17: Nordhagen Beach 2, Egret 1

In yet another low-scoring game, the Boys' pitching proved to be on top. Nordhagen Beach SP Deedee Martinson earned the victory and Game MVP honors by allowing one earned run on two hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 8.0 innings. Kidd came on in the 9th to earn the save. The Party Boys went into the bottom of the 6th trailing 1-0, but an RBI double by 3B Bertie Cuttooth and a sacrifice fly by 2B Jumper Hayes gave the Boys the permanent advantage to move on to the Semifinals Round where they already know they will host regardless of the Jamaica Plain-Sunshine Tidings winner.

Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (Nordhagen Beach Regional 2) at Sunshine Tidings Chemists (Egret Regional 1)

This was an intriguing matchup with two championship-quality teams for 2306. The Red Rockets earned the third seed in the SCA in 2305, while the Chemists were the #1 seed in the NCA.

March 15: Jamaica Plain 7, Sunshine Tidings 5

The Red Rockets took the early series lead, boosted by a five-run 5th inning to help them take a 7-2 lead at the time. Rookie LF Ken Debate, who was part of the Vadim trade with the Killers, led the way for the Rockets, going 2 for 2 with a double, a home run, two walks, two runs scored, and two RBI.

March 16: Sunshine Tidings 8, Jamaica Plain 0

The Chemists got revenge to set up a rubber match for the two teams. Sunshine Tidings SS Lernz Tentsleep was 3 for 4 with a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI for the Game MVP nod. Probably SP Eugene Gym should have been the Game MVP, throwing a complete-game shutout and going 2 for 4 with two RBI.

March 17: Sunshine Tidings 8, Jamaica Plain 1

The Chemists got another blowout victory to move on to the semifinals at Nordhagen Beach. SP Mike Rubric was Game MVP, allowing one earned run on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts in 7.0 innings. LF David Seaweed, 3B Ross Merchantman, SS Tentsleep, and RF Baktu DaWell all went deep for Sunshine Tidings. Debate homered for the Red Rockets' only run in two games.

2306 Nuka Cup

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

21 March 2306

2306 Nuka Cup - Semifinals

We are down to four teams in the semifinals, and we are pretty sure these four teams will be around for the playoffs in 2306, especially since all are highly talented teams that were there last year. Let's take a look at how the two matchups went on the way to the 2306 Nuka Cup Finals.

Concord Radstags (County Crossing Regional 2) at Roxbury Rad Sox (County Crossing Regional 1)

This series was between both placers from the County Crossing Regional, meaning they both already played each other in the Round Robin Round, with the Sox coming out on top, two games to one.

March 18: Roxbury 9, Concord 8

In this high-scoring affair, the Sox came on late, overcoming a 5-1 deficit in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game, 5-5. Then, after the Radstags scored three in the top of the 7th, the Rad Sox answered with four runs again, taking the 9-8 lead, which they held for the final two innings. SS Purple Gupta was the Game 1 MVP, going 2 for 3 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. RF Deerlord Fugivmee drove in four runs, two of them on the go-ahead triple in the 7th. 1B Cody Flatt hit a three-run, pinch-hit home run for Concord in the top of the 7th.

March 19: Concord 7, Roxbury 5

Concord used a five-run 4th inning to jump out to a 6-0 lead on their way to victory. 1B Dusty Brownell went deep twice, finishing 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBI, to earn Game MVP honors. 3B Peter Tatoeater was 2 for 4 with a grand slam, a run, and four RBI. 1B Dustin MacCready was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI for the Sox.

March 20: Roxbury 4, Concord 1

Rad Sox ace Nuka Laloosh got the best of the Radstags, allowing one earned run, a Melon Sanderson blast in the top of the 9th to break a 0-0 tie. Concord's SP Emperry Alizm allowed no runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts in 7.0 innings.

Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the 9th, the Sox clinched the series with a walk-off win. PH Kyle Boohoo walked to start the inning, summoning the Stags' Dan Beantown from the bullpen. With one out, 3B Donn Mattingley singled and Young Goodman walked to load the bases. CF Ben Pawlak then took a 2-2 pitch over the right field wall for the game-winning grand slam. Roxbury now moves on to the 2306 Nuka Cup Finals.

Sunshine Tidings Chemists (Egret Regional 1) at Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (Nordhagen Beach Regional 1)

With University Point out, the Party Boys maintain home-field advantage throughout the rest of the Nuka Cup. This matchup features the 2305 top two seeds from the North Charles Association, with the Party Boys being the representative of the NCA in the 2305 Sole Survivor Series, while the Chemists were upset in their first series by County Crossing.

March 18: Nordhagen Beach 8, Sunshine Tidings 2

The Party Boys had an easy time in this one, taking a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd and then adding four more insurance runs in the 8th. Four Boys went deep in the game: Jonathan Angelou, Bertie Cuttooth, Maxx Murtagh, and C Andrew Meager. Cuttooth was 2 for 4 with the homer, two runs, and two RBI to earn Game MVP honors. Sunshine Tidings' Baktu DaWell went deep in the third, a two-run blast off Ugio Church for his team's only runs.

March 19: Nordhagen Beach 6, Sunshine Tidings 5

The Party Boys took a 4-0 lead heading into the 6th inning and held on to clinch the series and declare their home spot in the 2306 Nuka Cup Finals. Sunshine Tidings' 3B Ross Merchantman was the Game MVP despite the loss. He went 2 for 4 with two home runs, two runs scored, and four RBI. LF Michael Fogcrawler was 2 for 4 with a home run, a run, and an RBI for the Boys. Tommy Beach pitched the victory despite a four-run 6th for the Chemists and allowing five runs overall.

March 20: Nordhagen Beach 7, Sunshine Tidings 4

In a game that was merely an exhibition, the Party Boys still used ace Beachboy Nut in what turned out to be a no-decision. Nordhagen Beach trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the 8th but scored five runs in the inning to take control of the game. C Mike Swift was the Game MVP, going 3 for 4 with a run and two RBI. Sunshine Tidings' 2B Paul Warwick finished 2 for 4 with a home run, a run, and two RBI.

2306 Nuka Cup

BNN Weekly Report

This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL

by Nat Wright-Kawolski

25 March 2306

2306 Nuka Cup - Finals

Two powerhouses are the only two teams remaining. Roxbury is trying to return to its championship ways, looking to defend its 2305 Nuka Cup victory while also looking to overcome its upset defeat in the SCA semifinals in 2305. Nordhagen Beach is coming off its third trip to the Sole Survivor Series and its second loss in the championship series. They are also looking to win their second Nuka Cup, the first since 2301 when they won both the Nuka Cup and Sole Survivor Series.

March 22: Nordhagen Beach 6, Roxbury 5

The Party Boys pulled out to a 6-1 lead after five innings and held on for the victory. Despite only four hits on the day, the Boys found their way, including Jonathan Angelou's big grand slam in the 3rd inning. Angelou drove in five runs to earn Game MVP honors. Roxbury's C Biddy Swenson was 3 for 4 with a home run, a run, and four RBI.

March 23: Roxbury 5, Nordhagen Beach 1

Urm Rehfeldt outdueled Eugene Church in a battle of top second pitchers in the CBO. Rehfeldt allowed one earned run on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 7.0 innings. 1B Duncan MacCready won the Game MVP by going 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, a run, and three RBI.

March 24: Roxbury 7, Nordhagen Beach 0

Whokill Poole pitched a good 8.1 innings of shutout ball, allowing nine hits and striking out eight. RF Deerlord Fugivmee was 3 for 4 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI. Chris Connexx's three-run 1st inning home run made the difference in the game. Nordhagen Beach finished the series with just 18 total hits as Roxbury repeated as Nuka Cup champions.

2306 Season Pass Tournament

2306 Season Pass Tournament

by Evan Guy

31 March 2306

The 2306 Season Pass Preseason Tournament has come to an end with a good number of upsets and surprises throughout the tournament. The final saw the #7 Grand Hotel Atoms defeat the #15 National Park Gulpers, both of the Vim! League, 6-5 in 10 innings.

In the bottom of the 10th inning, LF John Nobles walked with one out. RF Greg De Groot then hit a walk-off double to give Grand Hotel the victory. 1B Clean Mullis of the Atoms was the championship game MVP, going 3 for 5 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. De Groot doubled twice.

National Park pitcher Bubble Andrews had a decent outing in the no decision. Andrews pitched 6.0 innings, allowing three earned runs on nine hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. 2B Max Standing had the best offensive outing for the Gulpers, going 2 for 5 with a run and two RBI.

Last season's tournament champion, Victory, came into the tournament as the #8 seed. They won their first three games to get into the final three, but they were defeated by the Atoms, 7-4, and then the Gulpers, 6-3, to end their chance to defend their title.
