Billy Cowan 1963 - Topps tweak

It's a great app for sure but sometimes you need something additional. In this case removing the color cast on the original was done in an old copy of Photoshop Elements and was as important as the Remini enhancement. Here's another from the original submission here. |

Oh WOW!...
I really appreciated for what you and others have done for updating the History of Ballplayers photos... that may have appeared to be lost but but now are salvageable - thanks to these latest techs, as well as, taking the time and energy to do them for Baseball and the Diehards... Many thanks, mate!

Jack Powell 1913
The Facepack and Baseball Reference image does not depict 2-game Browns pitcher Reginald "Jack" Powell. I have found a confirmed photo of him from 1915 when he was studying law at Washington University in St. Louis.

Eureka!!
An amazing find! It's wonderful in seeing the depth, the width, the height, as well as, the hidden inner core of how much the Media has expanded.. You rock!!

Cy Warmoth 1916
Nice upgrade for Warmoth as I didn't have anything for him with the Senators that was usable. Image courtesy of RMY auctions.

Facepack upgrade, pictured with the 1922 Cincinnati Reds during spring training. He didn't get into a game that season, making him another 1 game major leaguer.

Jake J. Smith 1911
The image on the left is the Facepack and Baseball Reference image for Smith. The image on the right is a confirmed image of him playing independent ball in 1913. Does anyone know where, or for which team, the player on the left comes from? I'm trying to ensure it actually depicts Smith.

In any case, a confirmed image is always preferable. Could you please provide more detailed source information for the 1913 image?

I've attached the full mini-bio that was printed in the November 9th, 1913 edition of The Pittsburgh Press. While it gets his age incorrect, the rest of the info seems to match up. Also, while hardly a closing legal statement, there were very few 6'5" 200 lb left handed pitchers from Pennsylvania in those days. I'm uncertain who the player is that is pictured in the Facepack but I don't think it's Smith.

Jake Smith 1911
Had recorded an image of Jake Smith from the Dallas Morning News of March 25, 1914. Had trouble finding that image this morning, but finally came upon it within the past hour. Have concluded that the collector who discovered it had the wrong guy. Jake Smith was indeed with the Dallas Giants in 1914, but there were three things wrong with the Smith in the photo of four Giants in the Dallas newspaper of March 25th. 1) The caption identified him as W. Smith. 2) He is pictured wearing his glove on his left hand. Jake Smith was a left-handed pitcher. 3) The caption says this Smith had already been cut by the Dallas Giants. Jake Smith was not cut by the Giants until May of 1914.

Jake Evans 1879
Evans came out surprisingly good after the Remini treatment. He is pictured with the 1881 Troy team.
