With Kreidler thankfully sent down, Javy got the start in CF and performed admirably. Boy, do we need Meadows back!

Offensive lights went out last night. Hoping for another series win tonight! I like the pitching match-up tonight (but then, I liked last night too!)

Another series win!! Turns out Javy is a better CF than a SS. Which makes sense. It wasn't his range but his arm that was the issue. That play he made today in CF where he turned his back on the ball and went on a dead 115 foot run to make the catch was elite. If he is that comfortable to play like that out there, he will fil the depth chart hole just fine until Meadows comes back.

Agreed. It has been surprising to see how well he has adapted to CF! If he can continue to be 'not putrid' at the plate, this will work for now.

Just noticed this. I can't tell you all how much fun it is to see the Tigers playing so well that they have a dumb-take peanut gallery! I hope it lasts.

Javier Baez had a good game! What?
Not sure whether batting him ninth and putting him as far out of his manager's eye as possible is gonna be a long-term solution, though. ![]() Unrelated, the Tigers are 7-0 this year when I'm watching. ![]() ![]()

Houston will be a challenge; Good that Flaherty opens the series.

Wow, 7 games against the Angels and Rockies after this series with Houston. Time to make hay while the sun is shining.

Olsen looked great through 5. I am not used to seeing Vest do anything other than come in and dominate so that was rough. Salvage today and move on to the angles and rockies happy hunting grounds.

Who is this guy masquerading as Javy Baez?
He is playing an amazing CF.

Maeda was DFA'd. Decent guy and had a great run in Minnesota but he just hasn't had anything since Detroit signed him.

Sadly, no. Detroit has two more years at $24mil. per
There is no 35-year-old Javy contract coming that exceeds $10mil/yr unless the earth tilts off its access and is hurtling toward the sun at a rate that intersects before the end of the 2028 season.

The thing with Javier Baez is partially also: how long does he fancy being a centerfielder?
Or: when does Javy get it (back?) into his thick head that the shortstop job is his and his alone?
