BUG (minor): ask mgr/chc for lineups

Minor bug, but it flummoxed me for about 10 minutes or so.

I fired up the game and started using the MAL quickstart. Jumped into Spring Training and asked my manager to create all the lineups. Blank lineups ensued -- in fact, the lineups that were already there were cleared. Tried asking for just v. LHP or RHP, etc., no change. Tried asking my bench coach, no change.

So then it occured to me that the depth charts were probably fubar. I went in and asked my manager to create all the depth charts, which he did. I went back to lineups and asked him to create all the linups, and whoomp there they were.

So obviously it's not a critical bug, but it seems to me the game should pop up a dialog or something to indicate that the depth charts need to be completed first. At the very least, it ought not to clear away the existing lineups.

Thanks for bringing this up because I had the same thing happen to me last night several times. Although even when my depth charts were complete my bench coach/manager would not fill out a lineup card. I just figured he was being stubborn.

Yup I saw this last night too. Just one person missing from the depth chart causes blank lineups if you ask for help.

Yep Kleric, I think you are right. I didn't have problems tonight after making sure my depth chart was full...guess this wasn't necessarily a bug.

Sure it's a bug. We can debate whether or not it should let you know that your depth charts are not complete, but under no circumstances should it erase your lineups.

I'd be surprised if this is actually a big. Previous OOTP's required you to set your depth chart before auto-generating a line-up, too.

It makes sense, AFAIC. How can you set the batting order if you don't know who's playing the field?

The difference is:
  • 6.5 pops up a box warning you to check your depth charts. OK, obviously not a bug so much as a preference. But...
  • 6.5 does not erase your lineups if you have one position/player missing from the depth charts! I just went into 6.5 and cleared the Catcher spot in my depth charts, then did an auto-linup. I got new lineups that were missing a catcher, not blank lineups.

Fill your depth chart out.
