Not for this league...not yet...
We've been evaluating 2006 for use with SGCBL. And it's been a little bit of a struggle (as all change is). But it's not the interface or some missing old feature that's finally killed 2006 for use with our league. Nope. The final nail in the coffin came tonight during testing when one of my human GM's was FIRED. And, as far as I can tell, there's no way to turn off that "feature".
 I can see where it would be fun to have a league where the participants are fighting for jobs with different teams. Sorry, guys, but that's not the way our league works. Our guys are team owners and GM's (you should have seen the flare up over the fact that they wouldn't be able to set their own ticket prices in the new version). They are not going to take kindly to being fired, even if their team sucks. And then where do they go?? Do I have to reassign GM's all the time as Commish? And what if they get fired in the middle of a sim week and the AI takes over and messes up their team? We'll sit out another season and wait for a few more patches. (Which makes me incredibly sad.)

Please do your best to provide the following information:
1. What, specifically, were you doing when the problem occurred? Include the specific screen you were on when the problem occurred. 2. What happened? Was there an error message? If so, what was the specific message? 3. Were you able to repeat the error with this same game? With another game? If so, what steps did you take? 4. If relevant, what do you think the program should have done? 5. What is your league configuration (fictional/historical, etc.) 6. What stage(ingame date) were you at in the game? Additionally, if your problem is related to system performance, memory utilization, or the like, please include details about your computer's hardware and operating system.

I keep thinking that I must be missing something. There's gotta be an option here for it. I know we've run out of fingers and toes to count the number of times someone has said "Where is that option/report/list?" and someone else finds it easily. But I can't find it.
Also, before I posted this, I thought I really was overreacting, because: A. Mostly they'll get fired at the end of the season. B. I can just put them back. But "B" isn't true! I have to delete the human GM and re-add them to manually assign them to a team (as far as I can tell). Thus, killing any continuity for the GM record.

Nope. Wrong answer. I have it all set up and uploading to my web site to test the html upload (which works fine). I already reported an issue with the fact that you can no longer broadcast a game.
I will try again, though. Like I said, I messed up the schedule (when I went into the editor, it wiped out a bunch of games). So, maybe that caused it. If it's not supposed to fire GM's when you have the online setup, then that would be great. I will re-import and try again.

Perhaps this really is not supposed to happen with the Online League option checked, and it was just an isolated burp. I started another test, and I have tried intentionally screwing up teams with a human GM, and I cannot get him fired. That's a good sign!!

Well, I spent most of the day yesterday trying to recreate this. First, I just set up a very simple fictional league with a couple of human GM's to run through seasons really, really fast. I did everything I could to tick off the team owner, and still couldn't get the human GM fired. So, that's good.
Unfortunately, when I tried to convert my online league and set it up to try, I kept getting game crashes. I haven't been able to sim a single game, yet. I am still plugging away at it, though. I think we'll wait for the patch before making a final judgment. Sorry for the panic earlier (it was late and I was tired).

I've been running test sims after importing my online league and one of the managers was also fired at the end of the season. And I do have the game set for "Online League Mode"

Both of these leagues came via import?
Has anyone tried creating a brand new league, running it as though it was an online league, and seeing it if still fires human GMs?

Yes, I did try a brand new, non-imported league, and it worked fine. I intentionally tried everything I could to get the human GM fired (released all the major leaguers and promoted single-A players, paid a $350 million/year contract for a scrub, traded a star player for a dollar). I had him finish at least 50 or 60 games out of 1st place for 3 seasons straight, and the owner didn't fire him.
Still working on the imported league test. Stupid real life (and game crashes) keep getting in the way.

If the imported team test shows fired human GMs, maybe toggle the Online League mode setting, and see if that helps?
