Free Agent Update and Sign on the same day

Receiving a message that updates you on negotiations or shows a rumor about it and then receiving the actual signing email on the same day seems a little odd. I don't know if that was intended or not but I thought I would point it out, since it seems like a lot of people have experienced it but I couldn't find it posted in here.
