Wins Problem

I've seen a few starting pitchers that were in for four innings or less when he was pulled (for whatever reason). However he still picked up the win without pitching the required 5 innings.

Are they spring training games? Others have posted this but to my knowledge it was always in ST which is ok. However, if it is regular or post season then it is a problem.

I can only assume it would be a ST game...why else would you pull a pitcher with a no-hitter?

It was not Spring Training. The pitcher was pulled because of an injury.

I thought that if no pitcher pitched at least 5 innings it was up to the discretion of the official scorer who got the win. Looks like your starter did well enough to earn it to me.

I thought the starter *had* to go 5, regardless, and the 'discretion' rule only applied to relievers after the first pitcher.
